20 Reasons Why Prairie Chic Is the New Boho

Buh-bye, boho — spring is all about prairie chic. The free-wheelin’ look fuses romantic, feminine vibes with a bit of tough-girl edge to deliver an aesthetic that speaks to both your sweet and sassy sides. We’re so there. So what does this Laura Ingalls Wilder-inspired style involve, exactly? Pretty much all of spring 2016’s biggest trends: frilly feminine tops, ditzy floral prints, denim skirts and the ever-essential saddle bag. There’s a lot to love. That said, it’s easy for prairie chic to take a sickly sweet turn, so styling is key. Start with a few ultra chic pieces, like the 20 separates, accessories and shoes below, then throw duds like boyfriend jeans, a leather jacket or an architectural top into the mix to turn the It-girl factor up — Alexa Chung and Kate Bosworth would totally approve.

1. Bash Emy Kimono Dress ($205): Meet the ditzy floral dress you’ll never want to take off. The midi silhouette and long sleeves give it an anytime-appropriate edge that can hold it down at the office with a leather gilet or on date night with strappy sandals and a statement choker necklace.

2. Vintage Bangin’ Bloom Embroidered Wool Vest ($98): Skip the blazer or leather jacket and toss on this embroidered beauty over printed tees and relaxed-fit jeans for a laid-back look that’s ready to take on your weekend agenda.

3. Free People Stay Together Dot Blouse ($148): When your standard office attire starts to feel meh, throw this dainty dotted number into the mix. Styled alongside leather pencil skirts and high-waisted trousers, it’ll keep those mid-week blahs at bay.

4. ASOS Western Fanny Pack ($30): ICYMI: Belt bags are officially a thing. For serious out-West swagger, team it with destroyed denim and cutout boots for an off-duty look.

5. Ecote Circus Dreams Lace-Up Pullover Sweater ($148): Glamping goddesses, listen up! This snuggly sweater was made for campfires and chillin’ under the stars. When you’re out of the woods, toss it over silky joggers and chunky-heeled steppers for the ultimate casual Friday outfit.

6. Express Western Turquoise Embellished Buckle Belt ($40): Not ready to go all out? Tack this turquoise stunner onto an everyday dress with a fringe-flecked bag for instant free-spirited vibes.

7. ASOS Curve Denim Button Through Western Midi Skirt ($52): Cropped flares, step aside! Button-front skirts are the way to do denim, prairie-chic style. DO pair it with red-hot steppers and a roll-neck top for an on-point #OOTD that can be styled on the fly.

8. Madewell Beaded Fringe Necklace ($38): This beaded fringe necklace has your festival style covered. Bringing a pop of fresh color to basics and flowy frocks alike, it’ll keep you rockin’ long after the music stops.

9. Nasty Gal Rough ‘n Tumble Bandana Top ($48): What happens when you take one of this season’s must-have silhouettes — the bow-neck blouse — and inject it with a little Western flair? A versatile top you’ll find any excuse to wear. Pair it with cutoffs and ankle boots to hit the main stage in style, then tuck it into tailored trousers or a pleated midi skirt once the work week rolls around.

10. ASOS Jacket With ’70s Western Fringing ($243): Step aside, biker jackets — this spring we’re all about those suede toppers. Opt for swingy fringe for extra festival-ready vibes, then toss it over cropped jeans and flatform kicks for an It-girl take on Americana.

11. Zara Floral Print Patchwork Scarf ($26): Rock two trends at once with this patchwork scarf overflowing with bright blooms. Belt it over a midi dress for a runway-inspired getup that will turn heads the second you walk into the room.

12. Free People Once Upon a Summertime Romper ($148): Good vibes are a given with this flowy romper on standby. Wear it for leisurely picnics in the park with Birks, round sunnies and a chic wide-brim hat.

13. Steven by Steve Madden Faux Leather Saddle Bag ($85): Whether you’re grabbing drinks with the girls or nibbling pain au chocolats at a cafe, take this dreamy sage saddlebag along for the ride. The subtle ’70s vibe feels right in line with the whole prairie-chic thing and is the ultimate companion to flares and billowy skirts, but can hold its own with dressier duds too.

14. Mango Embroidered Blouse ($60): Stuffy button-downs aren’t the only way to do on-the-job dressing. Tuck this sweet eyelet number into a leather pencil skirt for an ensemble that will take you from desk to drinks, no problem — just add statement kicks and bright red lips.

15. A.P.C. Bertille Skirt ($260): From bridal showers to backyard bashes, this floral skirt has every spring event on your agenda covered. You can dress it up with strappy heels and a structured jacket, or keep it daytime casual with an off-the-shoulder top and lace-up espadrilles.

16. ASOS Alligator Leather Embellished Ankle Boots ($68): Keep a pair of these beaded moccasins on standby for a laid-back cool look that will earn you some serious style cred. Whether you’re wearing rolled-up overalls or an airy A-line dress, you’ll reach for these bad boys every single time.

17. Zara Embroidered Kaftan ($70): Lazy girls, rejoice! This cozy kaftan is the key to perfecting your roll-out-of-bed-and-go routine. Soften a killer #girlboss getup by incorporating this number into any office-approved outfit. Or, for a beach-ready look that requires zero effort, layer it over a bright bikini FTW.

18. Free People Bandana Bolo Necklace ($38): No prairie-chic ensemble is complete without an amped-up bandana on hand. The classic accoutrement gets a major upgrade with the addition of a gilded bolo that’s a little bit Western and a whole lot of wow. Make it pop with a basic tee and a perfectly undone topknot.

19. Topshop Austin Western Bootie ($130): We called it — Western boots are THE stepper you need in your arsenal this season. Style ’em with skinny jeans and a button-down shirt (collar popped), with a sophisticated bolo thrown in for good measure, y’all.

20. ASOS Floral Print Tiered Top ($62): White jeans, metallic platforms and this flirty floral top: This is how the modern minimalist does prairie chic. Pull tresses back into a messy fishtail braid with don’t-care appeal, and dust lids with bronze shadow for an effortless glow.

Each time I think there's no more room in my closet, I always make an exception for H&M's new arrivals. I think I should send a "cease and desist" letter to their corporate offices because I've already added 10+ pieces from their spring drop to my cart. It's like I can't get enough of their elevated denim and leopard pieces. Oh, and don't get me started on the cute cardigans they have! See? I can't stop myself!

Scroll to see the adorable H&M spring finds that have me ready to pack up my winter clothes!

H&M

Textured Knit Cardigan

I love cute or quirky cardigansfor two reasons: they're low-maintenance and add pops of color to an otherwise basic outfit. This striped piece is on my radar because it can be worn with the plainest white t-shirt and a pair of slightly oversized cargos for the cutest transitional outfit.

H&M

Cardigan With Defined Waist

What do you wear when you're having a "quiet luxury" day? This cream cardigan!

It has a defined waist that'll help it fit beautifully over a pair of wide-leg or skinny jeans, but that's not all! You can add a button-up shirt underneath it if you want to add a preppy element to your outfit.

H&M

Embroidered Blouse With Peter Pan Collar

Peter Pan's collar has nothing on H&M's embroidered blouse. It almost feels like it should belong in the Victorian age, but that's not a bad thing! Create a modern silhouette by wearing a pair of low-rise jeans and loafers.

H&M

Patterned Linen Shirt

The only reason I'm drawn to this linen shirt has everything to do with the blue floral pattern. It'll make you and I look like we're honoring our grandmother's expensive dining plates. Who knows, maybe your nana will want to have her own shirt so the two of you can match.

H&M

Textured Jersey Vest

Guess what's not outdated? Cute jersey vests that add a touch of elegance to whatever you're wearing. You could be wearing the most distressed pair of jeans you own, but wearing this textured piece over them along with a pair of mesh flats will make it seem like you're familiar with The White Lotus lifestyle.

H&M

Gathered Off-The-Shoulder Top

No, it won't be weird if you wear H&M's red striped cardigan with this off-the-shoulder top! The more color, the merrier IMO! Then again, you don't have to wear anything with this because the bardot affect will show off your beautiful shoulders or the cute tattoo you just got on your collarbone.

H&M

Feather Soft Oversized Denim Shirt

I'm a firm believer that everyone needs at least one oversized denim shirt in their closet. They're an essential piece that can add a casual flair to your look because you can wear it over a thinner top or you can proudly wear a denim-on-denim OOTD!

H&M

Leopard V-Neck Blouse

Yes, I'm still drawn to leopard print even though winter's almost over. Depending on your preference, I think it can be worn as a neutral or statement piece. Since I'm heavy on wearing denim during spring and summer, I can personally see myself wearing this blouse with longline Bermuda shorts and cute mules.

H&M

Printed Sweatshirt

Everyone also needs a cute printed sweatshirt they reach for when their first errand of the day involves a doctor's or dentist's appointment. Being cozy doesn't have to be reserved for winter so don't be afraid to embrace that energy during other seasons!

H&M

Lace-Trimmed Ribbed T-Shirt

I don't have a fancy sound byte for this t-shirt aside from stating the obvious — it's pink and it's needed if neutral colors dominated your winter wardrobe. My goal is to embrace the cutesy and demure vibes of dressing even though life seems like it's on fire.

H&M

Wide-Leg Linen-Blend Pants

Linen-blend pants are the key to look put together without feeling like you're going to be held hostage by material that makes you sweat during spring. Nothing will derail your mood quicker than wearing a cute outfit that makes you uncomfortable.

H&M

Baggy High Jeans

If you're rebelling against the idea skinny jeans are trendy again, let's be friends! On a serious note, these baggy jeans look like they have the perfect fit for anyone's frame so they're in my cart.

H&M

High-Waist Knee-Length Denim Shorts

Did you know you can make denim shorts look stylish as opposed to your former middle school "skater" days? Picture yourself wearing these with a matching denim shirt and a pair of cute heels. No one will be able to resist your "it girl" factor when they see you out and about.

H&M

Denim Bermuda Shorts

Spice things up with these dark leopard print shorts for a spring look that'll get anyone's attention. Half of the stares you get will be from people who are wondering where you bought them from while the other probing eyes will want to know more about you.

That's the power of patterned shorts that aren't interested in being "mini."

H&M

Button-Front Dress

I haven't thought about where I'd wear this yet, but I know that I'd gladly button it up. Between the color and gold hardware, I can't get enough of the contrast on this gorgeous dress.

H&M

One-Shoulder Bodycon Dress

I think H&M just released the perfect solo datedress. Though I'd gladly wear this to dinner with my fiancé, you can wear it if you plan to stop by a bar you know your crush likes to visit. They won't be able to take their eyes off you once they see you in it.

H&M

Pintuck-Detail Dress With Flared Skirt

I automatically thought about summer when I first say this dress, but that doesn't mean it's inappropriate for spring! It has a little cut-out action in the back which makes it great for one of those subtle flirting moments.

H&M

Flounced Chiffon Dress

The '70s is having a moment again because this cute Woodstock-esque dress looks like something a flower child would gladly wear. Seriously, it's a great option if you plan to attend a couple of festivals soon!

H&M

Embellished Mules

Who wants embellished mules to dress up their worn sweatsuits and distressed jeans? I do because they're a great statement piece when you're keeping the rest of the your life as

H&M

Mesh Mary Jane Flats

These Mary Janes are sitting in my cart as I type this because they're one of the highlights of H&M's spring arrivals! I mean, who doesn't want a pair of mesh flats that feel comfortable on your feet?

H&M

Fuzzy Leather Flats

Not a fan of mesh or braided flats? Go for a fuzzier leather option! These scream "I'm the rich auntie" and I personally love that for us!

P.S. Wear these with an oversized denim shirt and H&M's denim Bermuda shorts!

H&M

Snake Print Ballet Flats

Remember when ballet flats used to have the ruched option to make it easier to put them on? I know you're tired of the back of shoes rubbing against the back of foot, so I recommend adding these to your cart ASAP!

H&M

Sneakers

You don't have to spend over $50 to have a cute pair of sneakers that go with almost everything you own. All you need is this pair from H&M and you'll have the answer to your casual outfits' prayers.

H&M

Small Crossbody Bag

Small crossbody bags may not hold your entire life, but you'll be able to fit the important things that matter in this one. From your cellphone to your debit card, you'll have everything you need in something that works with the rest of H&M's spring arrivals!

On today's episode of "TikTok Made Me Do It," we'll be talking about my latest obsession: at-home latte recipes! It would be funny if I weren't joking because the running joke is social media influences people to do too much. But, there are healthy things to pick up from like spending less money at Starbucks because you've become your own barista.

With the help of my Ninja Espresso machine, I've whipped up everything from a cinnamon sugar to a matcha latte, and they've been frighteningly good coming from someone who rarely drinks coffee.

Scroll to find your next at-home latte obsession aka discover the best latte recipes that'll make you place an Instacart order tonight

Jasmine Williams

Iced Caramel & Cinnamon Sugar Latte

This was my first successful attempt at making an at-home latte recipe and it's easily become my favorite thing to drink in the morning. A ton of trial and error was involved, but I've perfected the amount of ingredients I like to use so it's super easy to make.

Ingredients:

3 Teaspoons Cinnamon Sugar

2-3 Teaspoons of Nescafé Gold Espresso Blonde, Instant Coffee

Ghiradelli Premium Caramel Sauce

Caramel Syrup (any brand works!)

Unsweetened Original Almond Milk (I Prefer Silk)

A mini hand frother (if you don't have an espresso machine at home)

Ice

Steps:

  1. Drizzle caramel sauce in your glass of choice and add ice to it.
  2. Using a separate, smaller cup, scoop in cinnamon sugar and Nescafe' Gold Espresso Blonde. Pour in a small amount of unsweetened almond milk and use a handheld frother to mix them together. Set aside once done.
  3. Take the same unsweetened almond milk and pour in a few oz. to the glass you drizzled caramel sauce in.
  4. Pour your cinnamon sugar, milk and, Nescafé Gold Espresso Blonde mixture into it.
  5. Enjoy!

Jasmine Williams

Strawberry & Caramel Latte

Does strawberry and caramel really go together? If you ask this delicious latte, they do! I actually used the same ingredients from my Caramel & Cinnamon Sugar Latte outside of using strawberry syrup instead of caramel! The only tip I have is to avoid being heavy-handed with how much you use because it can be unbearable sweet if you're not eyeing it. Two pumps at the most should do the trick!

Half Baked Harvest

Iced Peach Lemonade Matcha Latte

Summer's only a few months away so it's time to start thinking about easy-going latte recipes that don't feel like you're preparing for a long, harsh winter. This recipe is perfect because it features two unlikely components — peach and lemonade — that sweeten its overall deal! Yum! (via Half Baked Harvest)

The Girl on Bloor

Homemade Nutella Mocha Latte

Your eyes aren't deceiving you — nutella is one of the ingredients in this yummy latte. It's almost replaced my love for hot chocolate which says a lot because no chocolatey drinks ever tasted this good to me before. Plus, the coconut whipped cream really completes the flavor profile! (via The Girl on Bloor)

P.S. It's a sweet drink so make sure you're prepared!

Averie Cooks

Pumpkin Spice Latte

Who am I to tell you pumpkin spice season is over? It's your kitchen so you get to make the rules and if that means you want to make this latte for the rest of 2025, I won't judge you. Don't be surprised if your roommates or partner ask if they get a cup because this easy recipe is delicious, and only takes 5 minutes to make! (via Averie Cooks)

Earthly Provisions

Iced Lavender Matcha Latte

You can never make too many matcha recipes because there's so many ways to have fun with them! For example, this one calls for lavender syrup which blends together with the oat milk and matcha powder you'll also be mixing together. (via Earthly Provisions)

Feel Good Foodie

Golden Milk Turmeric Latte

I highly recommend that you drink this latte recipe during golden hour in the morning. You'll love feeling the soothing milk turmeric as it gently warms your insides. (via Feel Good Foodie)

P.S. You may think you don't need to add cinnamon on top, but it adds an extra layer of warmth that's sometimes needed to prepare you for the day.

The Edgy Veg

Biscoff Latte

Cookie lattes are trending on TikTok, but I can see why. They're comforting without making you feel like you're drinking something seasonal. For instance, this vegan Biscoff Latte calls for actual biscoff spread or any cookie butter of your choosing. As fancy as that sounds, it only takes five minutes to make this tasty drink! (via The Edgy Veg)

The Endless Meal

Coconut Turmeric Latte

Not only is flu season still here, now we're moving into allergy territory. But you know what combats both? This yummy coconut turmeric drink I didn't expect to like. It has all the makings of a typical latte, but the addition of black pepper kicks things up a notch. (via The Endless Meal)

Rachl Mansfield

Magical No-Coffee Cacao Collagen Latte

This recipe's for anyone who's not the biggest fan of coffee. I've since learned that you don't actually need it to make a great latte which may be surprising. All you need is a little blend, hot water, cacao powder, collagen peptides, and dates. Yes, the fruit. (via Rachl Mansfield)

Munching with Mariyah

Homemade Iced Chai Latte

Look, it's another chai latte recipe! It seems like there's only one way to make it, but it's not! You can make a "hot" one or opt for a iced version like this! IMO it's much lighter than other lattes I've drank and doesn't have a weird aftertaste. (via Munching with Mariyah)

Half Baked Harvest

Gingerbread Chai Brûlée Latte

This recipe has Christmas drizzled and mixed all over it, but I don't mind. Like my mom loves to tell me, everyday's a gift so we should treat it like one.

It's the perfect drink to lift your spirits if you've been having a rough work week because the maple syrup, ginger, star anise, and chai tea will instantly put a smile on your face. If you think I'm bluffing, make it at home one time and tell me if you don't chuckle at least once! (via Half Baked Harvest)

Sydney Sweeney broke the internet when she announced she'd postponed her engagement. And when she clapped back at her bikini body haters. And when she went topless on Instagram. But her recent Instagram post from filming The Housemaid just broke our Brit + Co group chat because of just how many times Brandon Sklenar appeared — and one very specific video that had us squealing.

Here's a breakdown of Brandon Sklenar & Sydney Sweeney's new Instagram video.

Brandon Sklenar and Sydney Sweeney get cheeky in a new Instagram video.

Throughout Sydney Sweeney's newest Instagram post, which she calls "a very very late jan x feb photo dump," she posts some reunions with Euphoria costars Maude Apatow and Barbie Ferrera and behind the scenes from The Housemaid (where she stars opposite Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar).

I couldn't help but notice that Brandon shows up multiple times in the photo carousel: a selfie while he, Sydney, and a couple other women wear racing helmets, a photo in an arcade, and then a video where they're trying out a TikTok trend.

In the video, Brandon lifts Sydney up to sit on his shoulders while Rihanna's "Breakin' Dishes" plays in the background. They do more than a couple attempts until they get the video just right — and that includes lots of giggles from Syd, and a moment where she almost falls off his back.

"we love costars with chemistry," one X user says, while another adds, "They look so cute together."

Although, my goodness, if a man lifted me onto his shoulder that easily, I'd be in a fit of giggles too! (Although his strength makes sense given his upcoming role in The Olympian).

A third X user wonders whether the video is just a marketing strategy to drum up conversation — especially after Sydney confirmed all that chemistry with Glen Powell during Anyone But You was literally just to get the internet in a tizzy.

"I wanted to make sure that we were actively having a conversation with the audience as we were promoting this film," she told The New York Times. "Because at the end of the day, they’re the ones who created the entire narrative."

"Once [the movie] did become a success, a lot of the interviews were just questions about [the rumors], so I don’t know if we necessarily were planning on ever talking about the strategy behind any of it," she added in a conversation with Vanity Fair. "We just had very specific questions and when you say no to a question, people think that you’re a b—ch, so."

With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, plenty of people are already celebrating Irish culture and trying to bring a little extra fortune into their lives.

One charming way to tap into the spirit is by naming your little one something lucky. Here are eight of the most adorable baby names that have luck-related meanings.

Scroll to see all the lucky baby names we love for 2025!

1. Evangeline

Zura Modebadze

Evangeline is Greek in origin and derived from the words "eu" and "angelma," meaning "good news" or "good tidings."

This name has gained popularity in the U.S. because it carries a sense of hope and prosperity, making it a wonderful choice for parents welcoming a little girl.

2. Felix

Yan Krukau

With Latin roots, Felix is a timeless baby boy name that means "happy" and "fortunate." If you want to bless your child with a life full of joy, this name definitely conveys positivity and good fortune.

Felix also dates back to the 1st century BC and has ties to the New Testament, as well as several popes. It remains a popular pick in North America, South America, and Africa.

3. Gwyneth

Anna Bondarenko

The name Gwyneth is Welsh in origin and derived from the word "gwynaeth," which means "happiness." It embodies cheerfulness, and "Gwynnie" can even be used as a cute nickname.

It's no secret that actress Gwyneth Paltrow has popularized this name, but it also carries a bit of fantasy, thanks to characters like the priestess Gwyneth Berdara in the beloved book series "A Court of Thorns and Roses."

4. Merritt

Карина Суховерхая

When spelled a bit differently as "Merit," this baby name of Latin origin holds multiple meanings, including "valuable," "worthy," and "deserving of praise." Otherwise, "Merritt," which is British, actually means "boundary gate."

Either way, a baby boy with this name will be lucky, as the ability to set healthy boundaries (and stick to them) is a very sought-after trait.

5. Felicity

Travis Grossen

Derived from Latin, Felicity is another charming name that means "happy" and "good fortune." It's perfect for a little one you hope will bring joy to those around her.

The TV show "Felicity" added to this name's popularity, as well as the release of the American Girl doll Felicity Merriman. Some cute nickname options include Flick and Fee.

6. Asher

Holly Landkammer

While Asher, a name with religious ties, has traditionally been given to boys, it's growing in favoritism as a girl's name as well.

In the Hebrew Bible, Asher is the eighth son of Jacob and the founder of one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Jacob blessed Asher before his death, and Moses said, "May Asher be blessed above other sons."

That's why this name is often said to mean "happy" and "blessed." It's a lucky choice that's particularly popular among Jewish families.

7. Destiny

Subin Cherian

Do you feel like your daughter was meant to be? If so, Destiny may be a delightful fit. Derived from the Old French word "destinée" and the Latin "destinare," it translates to "fate" or "one's certain fortune."

In addition to its divine connections, Destiny also has ties to Hollywood. You may not know that Miley Cyrus' given name was actually Destiny when she was born in 1992. Plus, we obviously can't forget about the iconic girl group Destiny's Child.

8. Chance

Sergey Makashin

Last but not least is Chance, a strong name with British roots and a meaning of "good fortune." Originally a diminutive of Chauncey, it's also tied to the title Chancellor, which is given to high-ranking government officials.

So, to set your little one up for a life full of opportunities and luck, you can't go wrong with choosing Chance as a baby name.
