Fashion designer, stylist, former reality TV star, mother and author (her newest book is Living in Style: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Glamour), Rachel Zoe does it all. She may spend her days styling our favorite celebrities, but she’s also a master when it comes to styling her own home. Rachel manages to create a chic and glamorous space while providing comfortable yet sophisticated spaces for her sons, Skyler and Kaius, to grow and play. Her approach to decorating her home is much like her approach to fashion styling. Sticking to neutral furniture and paint colors helps keep the home classic, while fun, colorful accessories bring every room in her home to life.
In a formal living room dubbed “the white room,” Rachel poses with her husband and son in front of a white canvas teepee perfect for playtime. Though the room is bathed in white, we’re digging the dark accents, especially those black and white striped lamps. Rachel also included dark floors and plush rugs to make the room feel more welcoming.
Get the look of a chic living room like Rachel’s with your very own set of black and white striped lamps ($400). Of course, the room wouldn’t be complete without that amazing sofa. Snag a white tufted sofa ($1,400) for your space to set the tone. Like Rachel did, pull your living room together with a soft and luxurious rug ($14) to keep the space warm and cozy.
Rachel’s home is bright and airy. She loves natural light and is known to “switch on the lamps only when it’s nighttime.” The dining room is anchored by a dark table decorated with white flowers and modern lucite candlesticks, while the kitchen is kept almost entirely white. Rachel says this is “a real family kitchen,” where she often cooks for her sons. We’d love to spend our days whipping up new recipes here!
Dine in style with a dark table ($799) surrounded by molded plastic white chairs ($140). Complete the look with a duo of lucite candlesticks ($46 for pair).
In Rachel’s office, the walls are covered in wood paneling that carries on into a built-in shelving unit. Because this room has a darker neutral base, she chose to decorate with mostly white accents, allowing for a bold orange throw blanket to grab your attention. An office as beautiful as this one should surely get your creative juices flowing!
Take your own creativity to the next level by adding a relaxing lounge chair ($995) for those long brainstorming sessions. Accent it with an orange throw ($25) for a bright pop of color and keep a mod side table ($342) nearby for holding those bits and baubles.
The master bedroom is one of Rachel’s favorite rooms in her home, and we can see why! The family likes to spend time curled up on the “couch bed,” as they call it, relaxing and watching their favorite movies. Rachel brings feminine touches to the master bedroom with colorful accents and a collection of vintage Hermes ads given to her by her parents. The sleek, clean lines of the furniture in this room make the Moroccan floor pouf and round, industrial pendant light pop.
Get the look of Rachel’s luxurious master bedroom by keeping it fresh with white bedding ($100) and cream colored arm chairs ($959). Accent the space with colorful throw pillows ($96) and a soft Moroccan pouf ($150).
The nursery is cozy and plush, without being over the top. Rachel’s goal was to make this space “beautiful, not kitschy.” We think she did an excellent job. We’re loving the chic crib accented by playful artwork and an abundance of stuffed animals.
Give your kiddos the nursery of their dreams. A white + espresso crib ($400) is perfect for a boy or girl. Customize their room with favorite stuffed animals ($10) and cute artwork ($65 for set of six).
Umm, jealous! Not only is Rachel’s closet huge, but it’s filled to the brim with stylish designs — not that that surprises us. And did you notice how organized it is? Her sons’ closet boasts the same style and organization as her own.
According to Rachel, “visibility is key in organizing closets.” She utilizes boxes and compartments to give everything a proper home. Keep your closet as organized as Rachel’s with a storage system ($322). Finish with a zebra rug ($59) for a glamorous touch when you’re getting dressed each morning.
Rachel’s outdoor patio is the perfect spot for entertaining guests on a cool autumn night. She and her husband love hosting dinner parties for their friends in this outdoor room covered by a white trellis. Plentiful greenery makes this space great for enjoying nature in the comfort of your home.
Rachel went for darker furnishings in her outdoor space. Complete your patio with a dark marble table ($408) and black club chairs ($167 for pair). You may have noticed the same style pendant lights in Rachel’s bedroom, and we love how she used them to decorate two totally different spaces. Light up your patio with a series of similar globe lights ($160) to set the mood for your next dinner party.
