Remembering the Victims of the Las Vegas Shooting

On Sunday night and Monday morning, the world felt the shock of hearing of the horrific mass shooting that took place in Las Vegas on Sunday night. As of press time, 59 people have died and 527 were injured in what is being called the worst mass shooting in modern American history. Though celebrities and public figures have expressed condolences for the victims and their families, it’s important to remember who they were as individuals. Here’s who they were:

Sonny Melton

Sonny was a 29-year-old married nurse from Tennessee. He was in Vegas with his wife, Heather Melton, an orthopedic surgeon. Heather survived the attack because of an act of bravery by her husband. She told CNN, “He saved my life. He grabbed me and started running when I felt him get shot in the back,” she said. “I want everyone to know what a kind-hearted, loving man he was, but at this point, I can barely breathe.” (Photo via Facebook)

Hannah Ahlers

Hannah, 35, was a daring woman who loved skydiving, poolside vacations, and all-around fun. The mother of three leaves behind her kids and her husband of 16 years, Brian. A friend told the LA Times that Hannah was “possibly one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, with a heart to match,” adding, “she was a devoted mother and wife.” (Photo via Facebook)

Jordan McIldoon

This 25-year-old from Canada’s west coast spent his final moments with another concertgoer, who, in the confusion, ended up by McIldoon’s side. Heather Gooze didn’t want him to end up alone and become a John Doe, so she stayed by his side, relaying his death to his mother when she phoned.

Carrie Barnette

34-year-old Carrie was celebrating a friend’s 30th birthday in Vegas when they were caught in the tragic events of October 1. The eldest of three siblings, Carrie had spent the last 11 years working at Disneyland in her native California.

Rachel Parker

Rachel worked for the Manhattan Beach police department for 10 years in their records department. She had headed to the Route 91 Harvest festival with three other Manhattan Beach Police employees, but was the only one to succumb to her injuries. “She was just a great, great worker, always happy — definitely had her whole future ahead of her,” said Manhattan Beach police spokeswoman Kristi Colombo. “I’m heartbroken and speechless.” (Photo via Manhattan Beach Police)

Denise Burditus

This West Virginia mother and grandmother was at the country festival with her husband of 32 years, Tony, who snapped a pic of them just hours before the shooting took his wife’s life. Taking to Facebook, Tony said of his partner, “It saddens me to say that I lost my wife of 32 years, a mother of two, soon to be grandmother of five this evening in the Las Vegas shooting. Denise passed in my arms. I LOVE YOU BABE.”

Sandy Casey

A middle school teacher who worked with special needs kids, Sandy was “loved by students and colleagues alike and will be remembered for her sense of humor, her passion for her work, her devotion to her students, and her commitment to continuing her own learning and to taking on whatever new projects came her way,” the Manhattan Beach Unified School District said in a statement. “She has made a tremendous difference in the lives of her students and their families, many of whom worked with her over multiple years.

Dana Gardner

Dana Gardner had suffered through a mass shooting before. The San Bernadino native worked as the deputy recorder-county clerk during her hometown’s 2015 shooting. She was at Route 91 with one of her daughters, who was uninjured during the shooting.

Tom Day Jr.

Father of four Tom was with all of his adult kids, all in their 20s and 30s, at the country music festival in Las Vegas this past weekend. Tom’s dad, Tom Sr. lives in the greater Las Vegas area and is currently mourning with his grandkids. (Photo via Facebook)

Charleston Heartfield

The 34-year-old military vet, football coach, and off-duty LVPD officer was at the fest with many other off-duty officers. “I don’t know a better man than Charles. They say it’s always the good ones we lose early. There’s no truer statement than that with Charles,” Hartfield’s friend Troy Rhett told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Our hearts have just been very heavy since hearing the news.”

Angela Gomez

Only 20 years old, the Californian graduated high school in 2015 and was currently enrolled in community college classes.

Bailey Schweitzer

Also 20, Bailey was a receptionist with software company Infinity Communications and Consulting in her hometown of Bakersfield, CA.

Jennifer Topaz Irvine

Jennifer was a joy to her friends and colleagues according to her friend, Kyle Kraska. He told the San Diego Union-Tribune that she was like a little sister to him and that the 42-year-old family law attorney was adored.

Jessica Klymchuk

This single mother of four from Alberta, Canada had finally found love again after years of flying solo. Her fiancé, Brent Irla, took her to Las Vegas for the Route 91 Harvest Festival and was by her side when she died. (Photo via Facebook)

Rhonda LeRocque

The resident from Tewksbury, Massachusetts was with her husband, Jason, at the concert. He thought she had ducked when he had, but unfortunately, Rhonda was shot.

Adrian Murfitt

This Alaskan fisherman had gone to Las Vegas with his childhood friend, Brian MacKinnon, to attend the festival. Of his friend, MacKinnon said, “He made me laugh. He was like an Alaskan cowboy, but when he saw a dog he’d turn into a 10-year-old kid.”

John Phippen

The New Yorker, 56, was with his son Travis, an EMT, dancing away at Route 91 when shots rang out. Travis managed to get his father, who’d been shot in the lower back, into a car and to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Travis was shot in the arm, but didn’t realize it amid the chaos because he was too busy helping his injured father.

Quinton Robbins

With an incredibly heavy heart. My sweetest nephew has passed away. He was the most kind and loving soul. Everyone who…

Quinton was the first Las Vegas native to be identified after the attack. The 20-year-old had recently graduated high school.

Lisa Romero

This New Mexico high school secretary was loved by the administration and students alike at Miyamura High School.

Susan Smith

“She was the office manager, which means she was the hub of the school. She was the center of it,” said Jake Finch, a spokeswoman for the Simi Valley Unified School District. “Everyone who came through those doors she knew. She knew the children, she knew the staff, she knew the parents.” Smith was married with children, but currently, not much is known about her family. (Photo via Simi Valley Unified School District)

Neysa Tonks

Neysa was the mom of three, and worked for a technology company. A GoFundMe has been set up to help support her kids in the wake of her death. (Photo via Facebook)

Chris Roybal

After surviving a tour of duty in Afghanistan, this military vet was in Las Vegas with his mom to celebrate his upcoming 29th birthday.

While I love seeing BookTok-viral novels get turned into movies (hello It Ends With Us!), it's just as fun to see them get turned into TV shows, like Fourth Wing — which is why I had such high hopes for A Court of Thorns and Roses at Hulu...before it got canceled. But believe it or not, the fantasy series cancellation could actually a good thing.

Here's the latest update on the A Court of Thorns and Roses show.

Is the ACOTAR TV show still happening?

KoolShooters/Pexels

A Court of Thorns and Roses TV show has officially be scrapped at Disney’s 20th Television, according to Variety. But ACOTAR fans, don't give up hope! Sarah J. Maas was working with Outlander creator Ronald D. Moore, but now Variety's sources say that after the rights expire at Disney, SJM will be shopping the rights to an ACOTAR show to a different studio and platform.

Honestly, I'm totally here for this because a platform like Prime or Max would provide a different kind of edge and aesthetic to the series that would serve it in a different way. And if we have to wait a little longer for a platform SJM feels most aligned with, I'm willing to stick it out!

On February 27, 2024, Sarah J. Maas reportedly went out to coffee with Margot Robbie. Margot's production company (LuckyChap) has backed projects like I, Tonya, Promising Young Woman, Saltburn. Everything Margot touches turns to gold so I really hope she eventually ends up on the creative team for A Court of Thorns and Roses!

Who plays Rhysand in ACOTAR?

Jared Subia/Unsplash

We never got an official cast announcement, but there are plenty of ACOTAR fancasts.

Hannah Dodd, who plays Francesca in Netflix's hit series Bridgerton, would be the PERFECT addition to the cast, whether she plays Elain or Feyre. And now, I honestly don't know if I'll be satisfied with anyone else ;). "She is ELAIN," one TikTok user comments. "Literally copy paste from my brain Elain."

Deuxmoi (via Marie Claire Australia) revealed some potential actors who could be in the running, like Thomas Doherty, Theo James, and Katherine Langford. Actress Brec Bassigner expressed that she'd love to be considered for a role. "I emailed my team, and I was like, ‘Listen, I don’t care if I have one line. I have to be a part of this,'" she says in an interview with TV Line.

Is ACOTAR getting a 6th book?

Amazon

Yes, ACOTAR book 6 is on the way! We don't know who the new book will focus on, but Sarah J. Maas did say she's excited to bring it to us.

"The next book in that series, I have the ideas and general, vague thoughts. But the nitty gritty of writing and the emotional journeys with the characters — I usually love to go on those journeys with them," she said during an appearance on TODAY.

What is A Court of Thorns and Roses about?

Amazon

A Court of Thorns and Roses follows Feyre, a huntress who's forced to live with the immortal faeries after killing a wolf in the woods. The longer she stays in the Fae's world, the more she begins to love it — and the passionate, alluring faerie Tamlin. But as a dark shadow grows, both their world and Tamlin are put in danger, and it's up to Feyre to save them all.

When did the Court of Thorns and Roses series come out?

Amazon

A Court of Thorns and Roses is the first novel in the series of the same name, and was published in 2015. Sarah J. Maas continued the series with A Court of Mist and Fury in 2016, A Court of Wings and Ruin in 2017, A Court of Frost and Starlight in 2018, and A Court of Silver Flames in 2021.

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) have always been a dramatic duo, but they're taking the drama to new heights right now: they're breaking up, according to TMZ. The Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker BFFs announced they were expecting their first child together, making this all way more complicated than a simple split. And Megan Fox just gave birth to their sweet new baby.

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly may not be together, but they have a lot to celebrate now that their daughter made her grand debut! Machine Gun Kelly eagerly announced her arrival on Instagramby sharing a small black and white video of him holding her toes.

No matter where he and Megan stand, the rapper made it clear he's excited their daughter was born safe and sound. The sweetest part of his caption is him calling the newborn a "little celestial seed."

He also explained that Travis Barker helped welcome their daughter through music, adding, "We composed the score of the birth. What an epic journey. Praise God."

We also love positive the comments on the announcement post are! Even MTV couldn't resist commenting by writing, "congratulations ♥️."

And get this, Megan's birth was aided by music. "We composed the score of the birth. What an epic journey. Praise God," Kelly told E! News. If you're wondering whose music they were listening to, it's none other than Travis Barker!

Did Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox break up?

www.instagram.com

TMZ reported Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly broke up on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. The pair allegedly split on Thanksgiving weekend in Vail, Colorado given "upsetting material" Megan found on MGK's phone. Apparently they haven't been together since the breakup, with MGK going as far as to leave their trip early.

Megan announced she was pregnant on Instagram a month before they allegedly broke up, on November 11, 2024. According to PEOPLE, MGK was "basically telling everyone he knows" about the baby, and that the pair is "doing well" in general. Now, it seems like the tables have really turned in the latter regard.

However, an exclusive source told PEOPLE, "Their relationship has always been bumpy. They love each other but don't have compatible personalities." The source explained that Megan and MGK are "both hot-heads, dramatic and stubborn," noting that they've "worked things out" when they broke up in the past. "When they're good together, they're great," they said. "They will very likely get back together."

PEOPLE reported that Megan and MGK announced their engagement on Instagram on January 12, 2022. However, the Jennifer's Body star only features her pregnancy announcement on Instagram now — and while MGK doesn't have a post on his grid either, you can still see his video of her engagement ring here!

Sydney Sweeney's alleged extended hotel stay has taken a more permanent turn. After postponing her wedding to fiancé Jonathan Davino at the end of February, Sydney turned heads when she stepped out in Barbie pink at the Vanity Fair Oscars party — and then joined Glen Powell at his sister's wedding. Now, according to a few sources, the Euphoria actress and her fiancé have called it quits.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about Jonathan Davino & Sydney Sweeney's breakup.

Are Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino still together?

Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino have called off their wedding. However, the actress is "exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She's all about working right now and very excited about all her projects," a source toldPeople.

The Anyone But You actress is "in the middle of this magical career that she could only dream of a few years ago...This is what she wants to focus on right now."

"What did make her overwhelmed though was her relationship and her wedding," the source adds. "She didn't feel right about it."

Sydney Sweeney was reportedly staying on her own.

According to TMZ sourceson March 11, Sydney Sweeney was having a solo stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel since "around the middle of February." Apparently she hasn't been joined by Jonathan Davino throughout her time, instead sticking with some friends and one of her bodyguards.

We don't have official news on a breakup just yet, but while The Housemaid actress' decision to postpone her wedding definitely made headlines, Sydney's always maintained that she's been too busy with work to rush to the altar. "I am so busy working!" she told Entertainment Tonight when asked about the wedding. "I'm a workaholic and I love it, I love it."

How long have Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino been together?

Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino were together from 2018 until 2025. They kept their relationship pretty low-key since they were first linked in 2018. And in 2023 she revealed why she keeps those details close to her chest.

“Everyone is always so curious about who I’m with and what’s that like, but I think it’s important to have something for me,” Sydney toldGlamour UK. “I’m very open [otherwise]. I talk about so much, and sometimes, it gets me in trouble, but I do try to keep something for me.”

“I’ve been in a steady relationship for a really long time, which is not normal in this industry and not normal for my age,” she continued. “What I’ve noticed about the idea of celebrity is people really love to build someone up and then tear them down.”

Are Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney together?

Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell aren't in a public relationship, but they started major buzz when they both attended Glen's sister's wedding in Texas. And whether there's romance between or not, there's clearly a lot of love.

The White Lotus season 3 has plenty of drama onscreen, but according to actor Jason Isaacs (who plays North Carolina patriarch Timothy Ratliff), there was more than enough drama off camera, too. WHAT! The Harry Potter actor described filming the latest season of Mike White's TV sensation "like a cross between summer camp and Lord of the Flies but in a gilded cage." Now that sounds like a great pitch for The White Lotus season 4.

Here's what Jason Isaacs had to say about filming with theWhite Lotus cast — including Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Sam Nivola — in Thailand.

Jason Isaacs says filming 'The White Lotus' wasn't a vacation.

Despite the fact their White Lotus characters are on vacation, Jason Isaacs says that filming the latest installment "wasn’t a holiday."

"Some people got very close, there were friendships that were made and friendships that were lost," he tells Vulture. "All the things you would imagine with a group of people unanchored from their home lives on the other side of the world, in the intense pressure cooker of the working environment with eye-melting heat and insects and late nights."

"They say in the show, 'What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand,' but there’s an off-screen White Lotus as well, with fewer deaths but just as much drama," he continues.

Some of 'The White Lotus' cast got along better than others.

So it sounds like the environment of filming The White Lotus added a whole new layer of nuance to what we see in the series thanks to some potential IRL tension...now I need a whole series just about filming this show. But just like with any social scenario, Jason says some people hit it off while others didn't get along quite as well.

"I became very close to some people and less close to others, but we still all had that experience together and there’s a certain level of discretion required," Jason says.

And while he became close with his onscreen children, Jason doesn't confirm that real-life dynamic is what we see onscreen every Sunday. After all, acting is the job, no matter what's happening in the real world.

But Jason Isaacs got "very close" with his onscreen kids.

"I just try to be Tim Ratliff in his situation. Does the fact that I spent a lot of time particularly with Patrick [Schwarzenegger], Sarah Catherine [Hook], and Sam [Nivola], and became very close to them, make any difference? I don’t know," he admits. "I’ve played opposite people I barely knew and we looked like we absolutely loved each other. I’ve played with people I know very well and the relationships don’t work. I can talk about the dynamic but whether it bled into the work or not, I have no idea."

Catch up on Everything You Need To Know About The White Lotus Season Finale before the final episode airs on April 6, 2025 on HBO and Max.
