Of all the places we’d imagine Rihanna to be on 4/20, a wedding isn’t exactly the first location that comes to mind. Chilling with Seth Rogan and Snoop Dogg? Maybe. Performing in Amsterdam? We’d believe it. However, Rihanna surprised us all yesterday by skipping over the smoky festivities to be a bridesmaid in her good friend and assistant, Jennifer Rosales’s destination wedding. Now that’s what we call real friendship.
RiRi joined nine other ladies in Hawaii to see her close pal get hitched. From the looks of the photos going around on Instagram (which can be found under the hashtag #davis420wedding), the performer was kind of the most bad-ass bridesmaid that’s ever been. Although she was at a family affair, she still found a way to celebrate the holiday. In pretty much all the snaps shared you’ll find Rihanna sporting a bouquet of flowers as well as an, um… additional accessory, if you catch our drift ;)
Aside from her typically awesome antics, let’s chat about that stellar get-up she was rocking. She remained her wild self throughout the day but kept her outfit super classy in an embroidered, lilac dress. If you feel like you’ve seen this dress before, that’s because the look is straight off Badgley Mischka’s Spring 2014 runway. Since her dress is relatively conservative (for Rihanna’s standards anyway), she spiced up the ensemble with a messy updo and bright purple lips. If you’re looking to emulate RiRi’s epic bridesmaid style at your next wedding or formal event, here are a few ways to copy her look.
1. Lela Rose Draped Dress ($310) You’ll get the feminine color and Grecian draping of Rihanna’s dress in this number, but the embellishments and embroidery? Not so much. But don’t worry, that’s an easy fix. Pop on a crystal headband or glittered belt (or both) to add a little extra bling to your look.
2. Virgos Lounge Ursula Maxi Dress With Embellished Sleeve ($281): If that sparkle is a definite must for you, try this dress from ASOS’ new bridesmaid collection. Here, you’ll get the same soft color, deep v-neck and intricate detailing all found on that Badgley Mischka number.
3. Purple Haze Lipstick ($25): This isn’t just a lipstick that looks like Rihanna’s but most likely the exact shade she was wearing at the event. The star has been repeatedly rocking the color on Instagram and recently revealed that the shade is by Free Spirits, a cosmetic brand run by fellow wedding attendee (and her BFF), Leandra. The bad news is after RiRi shared the info, the shade immediately sold out. Add yourself to the waitlist or try the brand’s matte “Lililicious” shade instead and top with a gloss to get a similar result.
4. Messy Topknot: Replicate Rihanna’s perfectly undone updo with our tutorial on a super similar (and ultra-easy) hairstyle. One major plus side to this look: It only gets better as the day goes on.
