5 Must-Makes for a Glitzy Pantone-Inspired NYE Bash

You know what our motto for 2016 is going to be? Shine bright, a little bit like a diamond and a lot like an opalescent party ;) Since their debut, not one, but twoPantone Colors of 2016 have got our hearts feeling simultaneously warm and calm, an ideal combo for the holidays.

We’re setting our intentions right with a festive Pantone-inspired New Year’s Eve dinner party. Rather than using the actual colors, we used a bunch of opalescent tissue paper and metallic details that shimmer with both Pantone colors simultaneously. I mean, how gorgeous is this scene?

Add in a metallic silver backdrop, gold accented glassware like these cocktail glasses and gold confetti tumblers from the Brit + Co shop, and you’ll find yourself catching a glint of rose quartz and serenity everywhere you look. With these colorful confetti popperss, Rose Quartz sugar-rimmed champagne glasses and DIY tassel silverware holders, you’ve got everything you need for a festive party! This would also be a great theme for a bridal shower, bachelorette party or birthday bonanza. Now, let’s get to it.

Five-Minute Opal Crowns

These crowns can be made in a jiffy. The great thing about working with this shiny tissue paper is that it has a static hold to it, making it easy to self-stick to surfaces. We found these paper crowns from a local party store, but you can make your own with card stock and some elastic string.

Materials:
— paper crowns

— scissors

— tape

— opal/shiny tissue paper

Instructions:

1. Any paper crown or party hat can work for this, but we picked up these paper crowns from a party goods store. Carefully unglue the crown so that it can lay flat.

2. Cut pieces of the shiny opal tissue paper — the size should be at least the height of the crown.

3. Lay these pieces over the crown (we found this added more shine and thickness.)

4. The static of the paper should hold it to the crown as you carefully flip it over.

5. Cut small slits from the bottom of the opal tissue paper to the base of the crown to make it easier to fold the tissue paper up the backside of the crown. Secure the tissue paper with tape.

6. Once the bottom is taped, then cut the outline of the top of the crown. The static of the opal tissue paper should withstand.

7. Tape the crown closed. Done!

This crown is definitely fit for a New Year’s party.

DIY Confetti Balloons

We have some beautiful confetti balloons in our shop, but we couldn’t resist making our own with Pantone colors. Feel free to think outside the box and add other goodies, but remember not to fill it too much, as they might weigh down the helium. If you’re short on helium, you can blow up the balloons with regular air and hang them upside down from the ceiling.

Materials:
— clear balloons

— water bottle with a wide mouth

— scissors

— pen

— shredded or crinkle paper

Instructions:

1. Prepare your confetti by snipping the shredded paper with scissors, mixing it up with colors and/or shapes. We used metallic silver, opal, and a lilac to bring out the hue of Pantone’s Serenity.

2. Find a plastic water bottle that has a bigger-sized mouth. A regular bottle will work, but a bigger bottle will be easier. Cut the bottle in half.

3. Blow up your clear balloon to give it some stretch, release the air and then wrap it over the mouth of the bottle, being careful not to rip the balloon.

4. While holding the bottle, mouth down and balloon attached, fill the water bottle with the confetti and use the back of a pen to stuff the confetti through the mouth.

5. Once the balloon is filled to the brim, carefully remove the balloon from the water bottle.

6. Fill with helium and tie with a ribbon!

Metallic Fringe Backdrop

This super easy hack will mix up your photo booth backdrop or wall decor at any party! Simply trim decorative fringe into individual shapes and hang them on the wall in a pattern you love.

Materials:
— metallic fringe

— scissors

— tape

Instructions:

1. Tape your fringe to the wall and trim the bottom in varying angles. We went for triangles and asymmetrical lines.

2. Tape to wall as a backdrop. Simple as that!

See what we said about simple?

Hand-Lettered Opal Runner

To add depth and shine to our tabletop, we layered rose quartz-colored tissue paper on our tablecloth (use a little piece of double-sided tape to secure it in place.) Then layer a hand-lettered opal runner right on top. We wrote some words for bringing in the new year so guests could enjoy the inspiration while they dine.

Materials:
— opal paper roll

— pink tissue paper

— white acrylic paint pens

Instructions:

1. Feel free to lightly trace the letters with a pencil before you go in with a paint pen. Of course, if you’re feeling bold (like we were!), go straight for the pen.

2. Let dry and lay across the table — we lined it with colored tissue paper underneath so the opal shine popped.

3. To add a decorative finish, we cut the end into a flag shape as it draped off the table.

Onward and upward!

Disco Ball Terrarium

Finally, this is a very easy and elegant way to dress up your tabletop. All you need is a terrarium! Oh, and some disco balls ;)

Materials:
— terrarium container

— opal tinsel

— disco balls of differing sizes

— varying colors of shredded paper

Instructions:

1. We used these amazing faceted terrariums from West Elm. Take a damp paper towel and wipe the glass of any dust and dirt.

2. Fill with opal tinsel and shredded paper.

3. Place varying sized disco balls inside.

Prep your terrarium by taking a damp paper towel and wiping the glass of any dust and dirt. Fill with opal tinsel and shredded paper and place varying sized disco balls inside. So fun!

My love for making latte recipes has come to a halt with the news I need to balance my hormones. I could curse the sky for this minor inconvenience, but I've been testing low-to-no caffeine coffee alternatives to curb my sadness. Thanks to Google, I've found 10 of the best products ever created.

I know this sounds far-fetched, but I think I may opt to drink them more often than relying on things full of acidic caffeine!

Scroll to find the best low-to-no caffeine coffee alternatives that boosts your energy without being harsh on your body.

Low Caffeine Coffee Alternatives

Live Conscious

Live Conscious Beyond Brew Vanilla Latte

Starting off with the first coffee alternative I've tried, Live Conscious' Beyond Brew Vanilla Latte is high on my list because almost forgot I wasn't drinking my Nescaf Gold Instant Coffeelatte mix. My favorite thing about it is how easy it is on my tummy. Coffee usually gives me an extreme case of gas cramps, but this doesn't. I think it's because it's filled with ingredients like turkey tail and other probiotics!

Everyday Dose

Everyday Dose Mushroom Coffee

Next up is Everyday Dose's Mushroom Coffee! Made with 80% less coffee than other brands, it's way better than Dr. Robotnik's recipes in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's easy on digestive and nervous systems because it's full of ingredients like collagen, chaga, and lion's mane. So, you get the boost of energy without the weird jitters and pained run to the bathroom!

MUD/WTR

MUD/WTR Matcha Starter Kit

Is Matcha coffee-adjacent? It depends on who you ask, but it's technically not. I just love drinking it when I feel like I've exhausted my go-to latte drink. MUD/WTR's starter kit only has 55g of caffeine in it which is a better alternative than your go-to coffee drink. Trust me!

No Caffeine Coffee Alternatives

World Wide Botanicals

World Wide Botanicals French Chicory Root Brew-Like Coffee

Not only is this coffee alternative caffeine free, but it's not acidic either! I especially love that how the chicory breaks down into a healthy prebiotic that helps the right kind of bacteria flourish in your digestive tract. Knowing that most illnesses begin in our stomachs, I love how this promotes a healthy version of what coffee lovers typically drink.

Anthony's Goods

Anthony's Goods Instant Chicory Root

Do you need another reason to drink chicory root? Not really, but Anthony's Goods has another alternative that's just as good as World Wide Botanicals' version. Besides being caffeine-free, this product's also gluten-free and has non-GMO properties. The taste is just an extra benefit!

Rasa Koffee

Rasa Koffee Original Adaptogenic Mushroom Coffee

What I want? More mushroom coffee ASAP! This vegan product is also great for anyone who's following a Whole 30 or Ayurvedic diet. It has 13 natural herbs in it and helps you feel less stressed with each cup you drink. How's that for an incentive to reach for coffee alternatives?

Walmart

Cafix All Natural Instant Beverage Crystals

Calling all barley lovers! I've found instant coffee crystals that are 100% caffeine-free! Amazingly enough, Cafix has figured out how to leave out the ingredient that makes some of us experience a post-coffee crash and I love that. I will say it's a little pricey for Instant Coffee, but you don't need to use that much.

Teeccino

Teeccino Turkey Tail Astragalus — Toasted Maple

The name 'Turkey Tail' may sound hilarious, but this blend is so good it's not funny. It's another acid-free, pre-biotic drink that doesn't taste like raw mushrooms (so important) and it brews like your favorite drink. Not bad.

Banyan Botanicals

Banyan Bitter & Bold Coffee Alternative With Chicory & Dandelion

If you don't need a ton of sugar or caramel syrup in your coffee, you'll enjoy drinking this chicory and dandelion mix. It a;so has adaptogens and prebiotics for a bold flavor you'll enjoy before a busy day. Plus, the fact it's caffeine-free is another added bonus.

Sip Herbals

Sip Herbals Peppermint Mocha Superfood Coffee Alternative

Did you really think I'd forget to include something that tastes festive? I couldn't leave this coffee alternative off the list because it combines "antioxidant-rich carob and soothing peppermint" together for a taste that feels like someone's throwing a Christmas party in your mouth.
