Ruth Bader Ginsburg Is Writing the #Girlboss Book You’ve Been Waiting For

Ruther Bader Ginsburg is basically the ultimate #girlboss. Ever since the 82-year-old Supreme Court Justice was sworn in over 20 years ago, she has served as a symbol for just how powerful women can be. Known for her inspiring quotes (Our fave: “I’m sometimes asked when will there be enough [women on the Supreme Court]? And I say, ‘When there are nine.'”) and her overall badass attitude, Ruth is a role model and an important figure in American history. So, it should come as no surprise that she’s currently (and finally) writing a book.

The book will be titled My Own Words, and is set to be a selection of writings and speeches that have been made by Justice Ginsburg on topics like gender equality, the workings of the Supreme Court and being Jewish. According to a press release by Simon & Schuster, the writings will be selected by Ginsburg and her authorized biographers Mary Hartnett and Wendy W. Williams. Ginsburg will write the book’s introduction and Hartnett and Williams will write the introductions to each chapter. Additionally, Hartnett and Williams are also working on a biography of Justice Ginsburg’s life, which will be released after My Own Words.

My Own Words will be available in hardcover, ebook and audio in January 2017. Emma Watson: We think we may have we found your next book club pick.

Netflix has given us some bangers (hello Nobody Wants This!) but, according to TV viewers, it's also given us some epic flops. Whether the scripts fell flat or the actors had no chemistry, these are the worst TV shows on Netflix you can watch right now — with Rotten Tomatoes ratings of less than 40 percent! Listen, sometimes we all need a good hate watch while we're doing chores right? Is that just me? Anyway, let's get into it.

Here are the 8 worst Netflix shows you can stream in 2025.

1. The I-Land (2019)

Netflix

The I-Land has been compared to Lost, and it's a comparison that (somewhat) rings true. 10 people wake up on an island with one another...and without their memories. Unfortunately the 8 percent RT score proves this series missed the mark. "I-Land was terrible acting, just nothing redeemable," one Reddit user says. "They even green screened most of the beach scenes."

The I-Land stars Kate Bosworth, Ronald Peet, Michelle Veintimilla, Sibylla Deen, Gilles Geary, Kota Eberhardt, and Kyle Schmid.

2. Girlboss (2017)

Karen Ballard/Netflix

Sophia Amoruso might be rebellious and creative, but Netflix watchers aren't a fan of this TV show (and it has nothing to do with the fact we're in the post-girlboss era). "Some of the outfits were really cool but the main character was absolutely insufferable and had no redeeming qualities," one Reddit user points out.

The show, which follows Sophia's rise to business woman through selling vintage clothes online, has a 35 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Girlboss stars Britt Robertson, Ellie Reed, Alphonso McAuley, Johnny Simmons, and Dean Norris.

3. Another Life (2019)

Eike Schroter/Netflix

Another Life follows Niko, an astronaut on the hunt for AI. Except in this Netflix show, AI stands for alien intelligence. That means Niko and her crew are in for some serious alien danger, but unfortunately, according to the 6 percent RT score, that danger isn't enough to hook viewers.

Another Life stars Katee Sackhoff, Justin Chatwin, Samuel Anderson, Blu Hunt, A.J. Rivera, Jake Abel, Alex Ozerov, Alexander Eling, Jay R Tinaco, Lina Renna, Selma Blair, and Elizabeth Ludlow.

4. Sex/Life (2021)

Netflix

Viewers consider Sex/Life — which follows a love triangle between a woman, her husband, and a special someone from her past — to be one of the worst Netflix shows because "the acting and the writing was so, so, so bad," according to a Reddit user. "It was so corny and felt like fan fiction." And the 40 percent RT score agrees.

Sex/Life stars Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos, Margaret Odette, Cleo Anthony, and Darius Homayoun.

5. Echoes (2022)

Netflix

Leni and Gina are identical twins who have secretly swapped lives since childhood. But everything about their perfectly-curated double lives spirals when one sister goes missing. Sound gripping? The RT score of 22 percent says otherwise.

Echoes stars Michelle Monaghan, Matt Bomer, Daniel Sunjata, Ali Stroker, Karen Robinson, Rosanny Zayas, Michael O'Neill, Celia Weston, Gable Swanlund, and Jonathan Tucker.

6. Blockbuster (2023)

Ricardo Hubbs/Netflix

Blockbuster stars fan favorite actors like Melissa Fumero and Randall Park. But not even the incredible cast could save this Netflix show, which follows the last Blockbuster video store in the country, from a 23 percent RT score.

Blockbuster stars Randall Park, Melissa Fumero, Olga Merediz, Tyler Alvarez, and Madeleine Arthur.

7. Insatiable (2018)

Tina Rowden/Netflix

In Insatiable, a recently-thin Patty is out for revenge on anyone who ever fat-shamed her, and a beauty pageant sounds like a great place to start. The show has a 12 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and one Reddit user says they "can’t name one good thing about it." Yikes.

Insatiable stars Dallas Roberts, Debby Ryan, Christopher Gorham, Sarah Colonna, Erinn Westbrook, Kimmy Shields, Michael Provost, Irene Choi, Alyssa Milano, and Arden Myrin.

8. 13 Reasons Why (2017)

Beth Dubber/Netflix

This Netflix show might have been an iconic pop culture moment, but the 35 percent RT rating shows it's not necessarily an enjoyable one. The series follows Clay, who receives 13 voice tapes from a girl named Hannah after she takes her own life — and each tape details one reason she ended her life.

13 Reasons Why stars Dylan Minnette, Katherine Langford, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Miles Heizer, Ross Butler, Devin Druid, Amy Hargreaves, Derek Luke, Kate Walsh, Brian d'Arcy James, Grace Saif, Brenda Strong, Timothy Granaderos, Mark Pellegrino, Tyler Barnhardt, Jan Luis Castellanos, Deaken Bluman, and Gary Sinise.

Sexis often considered taboo...even though it's a natural human need and desire. But — thanks in part to the entertainment industry — it's slowly becoming normalized in the many different shapes and sizes it comes. From quickies in random places to passionate lovemaking, the actors in shows like Bridgerton and Sex and the City show us the sides of sex we're remiss to talk about. And while Phoebe Dynevor is no stranger to a sex scene (literally HOW did she get through filming with Regé Jean?!), she took this "taboo" subject matter to another level in the opening scenes for her new movie Fair Play.

Image via Sergej Radovic / Courtesy of Netflix

Emily (Phoebe Dynevor) is seen getting busy with her fiancé Luke (Alden Ehrenreich) at a wedding. While that's not necessarily gag-worthy, there's one determining factor that could be — she's on her period. Not only that, but there's oral sex involved that Luke happily engages in. It's a highly erotic and graphic scene that has the potential to leave viewers reeling, but Emily and Luke aren't grossed out by what they're doing. They're too caught up in bliss to think there's something wrong about being pleasured during one's period.

I'll be honest — younger me would have immediately ran for the heels at this description because...ew. I'm not personally comfortable with the oral aspect of the scene, but I'm familiar with putting down a towel during period sex. It's all about preference, and no matter where you stand on the period sex issue, it's nice to have a partner that doesn't treat you like a walking science experiment during your period.

What did Phoebe Dynevor say about filming the sex scene in "Fair Play"?

She's actually happy the scene was filmed, and thinks director Chloe Domont did an excellent job showing that sex doesn't have to be skipped the week of someone's period. She told Ellethat male directors would've questioned the necessity of it. "We as women know these things happen all the time, but why are we not seeing it on our screens," she asked.

When does the period sex scene appear in "Fair Play"?

Trigger warning — this sex scene appears at the very beginning of Fair Play. Talk about starting off with a bang!

What is the plot of "Fair Play?"

Fair Play centers around the work culture of a hedge fund company that begins to take a toll on a couple. In a deeper plot analysis, Ellereports that Dynevor's character Emily has a secret engagement to her coworker, but "she gets a surprise promotion, which causes issues in their relationship outside of work." It takes a deep dive into the gender norms that can begin to stifle a relationship if both people have different views of how things are supposed to fall in place in and outside of the home.

What else has Dynevor said about "Fair Play"?

Image via Sergej Radovic / Courtesy of Netflix

She pointed out that it's an excellent marker for how far society has to go in terms of respecting women. She also told Elle, "We have this idea that world is so progressive...but there's still so much progress to be made and so many things that haven't been done or still taboo." To drive this point further home, Dynevor said, "The thing that was really interesting to me is how modern feminism is clashing with traditional masculinity...Emily is really trying to make herself small to make him [Luke] feel masculine."

This is true because we're seeing the effects of attacks on reproductive and maternal health. Not only that, but there's still an expectation for how women are supposed to carry themselves whether they're mothers or not. As far as we've come, the work to fully recognize that women aren't monolithic and deserve to have our voices, time, and efforts respected is ongoing. That we shouldn't have to shrink so that men don't feel threatened or emasculated. That us asking to be appreciated and respected has nothing to do with attacking men's self esteem.

Until we get to that point, films like Fair Play will continue to exist to push the conversation forward.

When can you watch "Fair Play"?

Fair Play will premiere in theaters September 29, 2023 and will be available to stream on Netflix beginning October 13, 2023.

This post has been updated.

Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce have been taking some deserved time off after Tay's whirlwind Eras Tour and Travis' third consecutive Super Bowl. And amid engagement rumors and reports Taylor's "taking a year off" to see how things go with their relationship, this couple has been doing the most important thing: connecting!

Here's the latest update on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce after the Super Bowl.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce finally had a low-key date.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were spotted in Park City, Utah on March 10 (thanks to this clip from DeuxMoi). The couple had grabbed dinner together before hopping into their car, and considering how wild their outings are in New York City — with fans and paparazzi galore — I'm glad they were able to enjoy what looks like a more low-key experience.

Taylor appears to be in a gray coat and black boots, with her signature waves and bangs, while Travis rocks a pale two-piece outfit. And like the gentleman he is, Travis lets Tay inside the white SUV first before climbing inside.

And they continually proves how much they love each other.

The date comes after the couple spent some time away “reconnecting after a very busy year," a Page Six source says, while another source tells the publication a post-vacation outing “went unnoticed.”

“They weren’t photographed or anything,” the second source continues. Way to fly under the radar! But one thing that didn't fly under our radar? Travis and Taylor saying "I love you" on live TV after the AFC championship game.

After the Chiefs won the game, and Travis gave a very passionate speech about how he's "never satisfied" when it comes to football, Taylor and Travis embraced and shared a kiss.

Travis appears to say, "I love you so much," and Taylor seems to reply with, "I love you. I'm so proud of you" (which you can see in this video, and per People's report.) I just love love!
