Ryan Reynolds Reveals to Humans of New York How Blake Lively Helped Him Deal With His Father’s Passing

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively may have stunned fans at last night’s Met Gala with their amazing style, but while we were focused on the glitz and glam of the epic annual event, Reynolds took a moment to reveal to Humans of New York just one of the ways that Lively has changed his life for the better. He admits things haven’t always been easy, especially when dealing with his troubled relationship with his dad and his father’s eventual passing.

The two have now been married for five years and are the proud parents to two little girls, and Reynolds has admitted in the past that his wife not only helps him manage his anxiety, but “She really does show me how to be better in almost every way. As a father, a person, everything.” And that also includes how to deal with the heartbreaking moments in life.

And she’s made me a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. Popping up on Humans of New York’s Instagram account last night, the pair both flashed adorable grins while posing cheek-to-cheek. While the snap totally reminds us of how much we love their love, it’s what the 40-year-old actor had to say that reveals how much these two have done for each other. “She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy,” Reynolds began, adding, “She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person.”

But it’s when he spoke of his dad that things got incredibly personal, with Reynolds admitting, “I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times.”

We so often see the cheekier side of these two that it’s easy to forget that behind closed doors, they deal with their own personal struggles just like the rest of us. Thankfully for Ryan Reynolds, he has Blake Lively by his side.

After keeping up with Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce's rom-com love story, and listening to Taylor Swift's songs about Travis on repeat, there is one question on my mind: when are Taylor and Travis going to make their red carpet debut?! My fingers are crossed for the 2024 Met Gala (which is happening May 6, FYI). Not only would it make total sense for Taylor Swift to show up at the Met Gala since she's having the biggest year, like, ever, but the fact the theme is all about the beauty, emotion, and complexity of time makes so much sense when you listen to The Tortured Poets Department. Here's everything we know about Taylor's potential return to the Met Gala.

Yes, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were reportedly invited to the Met Gala for 2024. This event is one of the biggest nights of the year — and it's also one of the hottest tickets in town. Considering both Taylor and Travis are on top of the world, the Met Gala would be the perfect place to make their relationship red carpet official.

The 2024 Met Gala theme is "The Garden of Time." If I were dressing Taylor, I would choose a look inspired by her song "I Hate It Here," which features a ton of imagery from The Secret Garden. "I hate it here so I will go to secret gardens in my mind," she sings. A floral dress in shades of green, pink, and white, especially when paired with clock accessories? Come on!

However, a TMZ source has said the couple declined their invitations and won't be at the event in New York City. It would make sense for them to skip considering Taylor Swift's Eras Tour restarts in Paris that week. However, I definitely think they could make it work — after all, she did fly from Tokyo to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl.

While I was already hooked on this dynamic duo just based on the two of them alone, the trailer just dropped — and it did NOT disappoint. Okay, let's address the elephant — or two-time Superbowl-winning quarter back — in the room first. Hello, Peyton Manning! I swear, this man is everywhere right now, and I'm so here for it! I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh at his "Paintin' Manning" commercials lately.

Anyway, back to the plot at-hand! When Reese Witherspoon's sister and Will Ferrell's daughter get engaged, the both manage to book the weddings for the same day (June 1)...and at the same venue! Classic conundrum! Instead of rescheduling, the two groups are forced to work it out between the two of them, and things get a little hairy.

Throughout the hilarity — and chaos — that ensues, we see a lot of good stuff. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • The two wedding parties battling over the sunset ceremony
