See the First Pics of Draco and Scorpius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
This week has been a whirlwind of introductions to the adult versions of the Harry Potter characters that fans love so much, as well as the next generation of magic makers. First, we were given a peek at the Cursed Child‘s Harry himself and his wife, Ginny, as well as their son, Albus Potter. Next, Ron and Hermione Granger-Weasley, along with daughter Rose, gave us more deets about the play that will be hitting the stage in just a few short days. But now, we turn to the darker side, as we’re introduced to an adult Draco Malfoy and his doppelganger son, Scorpius.
With the actors chosen to portray the Malfoy lads looking incredibly similar, even J.K. Rowling commented, “I love Draco and Scorpius — they actually look related!” No doubt! Although it’s a new look for the younger actor, who had to bleach his hair to get the perfect familial appearance, saying, “It was such a game changer. As soon as I saw it, it was like, ‘Okay, I’m playing Scorpius Malfoy — this is real now.’ That was such a big moment.”
Draco Malfoy is now all grown up and appears to be just as malicious as ever, with Alex Price taking on the part of Harry’s former school nemesis. Fans might recognize Alex from roles in Merlin, Penny Dreadful and Doctor Who, which have him perfectly suited to step into the role of the Potter rival.
With a striking resemblance to the man who will be playing his father on stage, Anthony Boyle is taking on the role of Draco’s spawn, er, son. Admittedly, Scorpius doesn’t quite have the obvious brashness that his father had when we were first introduced to Draco as a child, though perhaps the younger Malfoy is worried that he won’t be able to live up to his family’s Slytherin ways as he heads to Hogwarts along with Harry’s son, Albus, and young Rose Granger-Weasley.
We’ll just have to wait until the preview performances hit the stage in London in just two days, letting fans in on the latest chapter of the wizarding world.
