Some exes do their best to stay friends, and others totally stay out of each other’s biz once the split has happened. Selena Gomez (who is fully willing to publicly rant about sticky situations and even stuck out her neck regarding the Kimye vs. Taylor feud) doesn’t quite fit into either of those categories. While her ex, Justin Bieber, has become the target of none-too-pleased fans after posting pics of himself with his (young!) girlfriend and in turn sending his fans a clear message about what he thought of their actions, Selena has stepped into the sitch with her own words of wisdom.
While Justin and new bae, Sofia Richie, have been touring Tokyo, Justin has been posting lots of pics of his new gf, and fans are NOT happy. Some peeps are just not pleased their celeb crush has a new lady, but there’s also the fact that Sofia (yes, she’s Nicole’s sis) is just 17-years-old while Justin is 22. Oof.
Those who were unhappy were not at all afraid to let the Biebs know about it with comments that were numerous and nasty, prompting the singer to address his fans directly, saying, “I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like.” Fair enough.
Though it was an admirable effort, it didn’t stop people from adding in their two cents — including Justin’s ex, Selena Gomez.
In a comment that is now deleted (a standard celeb move these days), Selena called Justin out in no uncertain terms, saying, “If you can’t handle the hate, then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol -it should be special between you two only.” She also added, “Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you.”
Perhaps the best place to be is somewhere in between over-posting and posting nothing. Sofia’s Instagram account does include a couple of pics with her new man, but from the looks of it, Lionel Richie’s daughter and Nicole Richie’s li’l sis has turned off comments. Since her past pics were being viciously bombarded with nastiness, it looks like measures have been taken to keep the trolling at bay.
The message is clear here: haters can take a seat.
