10 Ways to Snag Shay Mitchell’s Killer Style Without Breaking the Bank

To say Shay Mitchell’s sartorial game was on point would be an understatement. While her character, Emily, on Pretty Little Liars isn’t exactly setting the fashion world on fire, Mitchell is a bonafide style goddess IRL, with an Insta feed and blog, Amore & Vita, to prove it. And let’s just say we’ve found ourselves swooning over more than a few of her #OOTDs. You might not have the cash to drop on Chanel, Givenchy and Saint Laurent like Shay, but trust us — you can totally channel her killer sense of style — band tees, flirty rompers, bodysuits and all — without going into the red. This is not a drill. We’ve pulled 10 effortless looks straight from our fave Canadian It girl’s Insta account, and are showing you how to recreate them on a dime. Sound good? Scroll on and prepare to swoon hard.

Shay plays the field when it comes to fashion — one day she’ll be rockin’ cutoffs and a duster coat, and the next she’ll be flirtin’ it up in a jaw-dropping number like this. Everything in moderation, right?

1. Topshop Metallic Body ($40): When you have a show-stopping bodysuit like this in your arsenal, there’s only one thing you can do: Take it straight to the dance floor. Toss it on with skinny dressed denim (a Shay signature), strappy heels and a leather jacket, then proceed to turn heads as you paint the town red with your crew.

Badass Band Tee

A post shared by Shay Mitchell (@shaymitchell) on

When she’s not flouncing around in flirty playsuits and sassy separates, you can find Mitchell in laid-back basics with a touch of girlboss edge. Add-ons like velvet chokers and studded heels keep an easy tee-and-jeans routine feeling fresh, without compromising on that casually cool feel.

2. Junk Food Pink Floyd Prism Tee ($45): Enter the psychedelic band tee that will instantly upgrade high waisted jeans and suede skirts to rock goddess status in two seconds flat. For extra don’t-mess edge, team with a Western belt, Oxfords and a bold bib necklace.

Statement Shades

Scrolling through the Canadian cutie’s feed is like hitting the jackpot as far as chic sunnies are concerned. Girl throws shade like none other with an enviable arsenal of show-stopping options.

3. Komono The Stella Rose Dust ($120): Accessories can make or break an on-point outfit, and these rosy stunners are no exception. Pop ’em on with basics and trend-right pieces alike, and proceed to turn heads wherever you go.

Leather Jacket

Every fashion enthusiast knows that a sleek leather jacket has transformative powers. Instantly adding edge to flirty frocks and infusing everyday essentials with a touch of downtown cool, its versatility and effortlessness are unparalleled.

4. Zara Metallic Leather Jacket ($149): As if a classic biker jacket wasn’t already street style bait enough, this metallic stunner had to go ahead and step into the spotlight. Consider it your new official GNO topper, the perfect complement to LBDs, tailored trousers and slinky silk tees that will turn up the heat on your dusk-to-dawn style like what.

Distressed Denim

MDW OOTD ☀️🕶 !

A post shared by Shay Mitchell (@shaymitchell) on

One of our favorite things about the Pretty Little Liars starlet is her fuss-free approach to off-duty dressing. Her signature? Ripped jeans and a throw-on-and-go tee. Max perfection comes in the way of pared-down jewelry, statement sunnies and, of course, an It-girl-approved bag.

5. Mother Denim Insider Crop Step Fray ($238): Shay’s a fan of the skinny style, but right now we’re swooning hard for cropped silhouettes. Between playing Sunday morning coffee runs and checking unique artisanal finds at a much-anticipated art market, these laid-back bottoms will fit the bill. Pointed-toe slides, a utility jacket and wind-blown hair are obligatory as you bounce around town.

Luxe Hoops

Shay’s hair inspo could fill up another post entirely — girl has mermaid hair (the dream) — but her collection of bold baubles are just as enviable — and a little bit easier to recreate.

6. Faris Shoop Hoops ($155): These are not your everyday hoops, people! And it’s not just because they’re Shay Mitchell approved. Made by Seattle-based brand Faris, they blend bold, sculptural styling and minimalist appeal for the ultimate It-girl accessory that would look downright DDG with a knit high-neck midi dress for the office or a floaty bohemian top.

Oversized Sweaters and Over-the-Knee Boots

Introducing your new fave fall combo: snuggly statement sweaters and sultry over-the-knee boots. This off-duty look is the epitome of lazy-girl chic, with the OMG-worthy steppers adding mad polish to incredibly laid-back separates.

7. Ecote Neon Lights Cardigan ($98): Keep the cold weather blahs at bay with this textured knit that defines off-duty dressing done right. Gear up for a weekend getaway in the mountains (or a cozy evening spent snuggled up by the fire) by styling alongside boyfriend jeans, ankle boots and a messy fishtail braid. It’s that easy.

8. Glamorous Tie Back Black Heeled Over the Knee Boots ($78): Whether you’re headed to the office or a chic after-hours soiree, these bad boys are a sure thing all season long. The best part? They’re a layering hack in disguise. Slip ‘em over treggings, skinny jeans or tights to keep those gams warm and cozy on cool fall nights.

Flirty Romper

We’re onto you, Shay. The actress has an affinity for flirty rompers, and we’re willing to bet it has something to do with their one-and-done appeal. Proof that you don’t have to spend hours painstakingly piecing together a polished look, Mitchell nails it with a flowy playsuit, Anna Wintour-approved sunglasses and a stack of dainty necklaces.

9. Nasty Gal Branch Out Ruffle Romper ($78): When an LBD reads too fussy, let loose with this go-with-the-flow romper for a wear-anywhere outfit that comes together in two seconds flat. When you’re not owning the dance floor in strappy sandals and a don’t-mess choker, lay low with lace-up ballet flats and a structured crossbody sac.

Off-the-Shoulder Top

ICYMI: Off-the-shoulder tops are the official It-girl shirt of choice for 2016. Take style cues from Mitchell herself and opt for a long sleeve style that will see you straight through fall. Oh, the versatility.

10. Eight Sixty In Flight Off Shoulder Top ($83): If you let summer pass you by without the most coveted silhouette of the season, you’re in luck. The flirty shoulder-baring top is sticking around for fall. Scoop one up stat and proceed to pair with Mary Jane mules and cropped denim.

Sleeveless  Blazer

The allure of a sleeveless blazer can’t be denied, especially when its full potential is put on display by someone with as much style know-how as Shay Mitchell. The blogger and all around It-girl proved that the bosslady essential has a place outside the office, styling it alongside a sleeveless shirt dress and edgy pumps.

11. Equipment Garner Wool-Twill Vest ($199): Be on your A-game after-hours by putting your trusty vest to work. Boasting major boy-meets-girl appeal, it’s the key to a flawless desk-to-drinks ensemble. Just layer it over a mock neck top, tailored ankle trousers and metallic Oxfords like a pro.

After only two episodes of Only Murders in the Building season 4, Hulu renewed the series for season 5! I'm so excited that the show breaks a recent pattern of cancelling shows after the third or fourth season, giving us more time with our favorite characters, and I'm not the only one.

"Here we go again… my favorite set family. I’m coming home!" Selena Gomez says in an Instagram post, while the official Only Murders account made their own post, saying, "We had our lawyers call business affairs. Turned the 4 into a 5. #OnlyMurdersInTheBuilding is coming back for Season 5!!"

Here's everything you need to know about Only Murders in the Building season 5, coming to Hulu soon.

What is Only Murders in the Building season 5 about?

Patrick Harbron/Disney

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Plot

We finally got our first details about Only Murders season 5 — and we're going in a direction I totally didn't expect. When Sofia visits Mabel and Charles in the season 4 ending, and asks them to find her missing husband, she's disappointed when they turn her down. And since Téa Leoni just joined the season 5 cast, it looks like she's not taking no for an answer.

“I think she’s the great tease at the end of the finale and a little bit of an intriguing bump forward,” co-creator John Hoffman says in an interview with Deadline. “She’s an extension of the little news report in Episode 9 that Mabel makes note of at the hospital. [Sofia] is the wife of the Dry Cleaning King of Brooklyn, and maybe a couple of dry cleaning outlets in Manhattan, as well, we may come to know...It’s a world opened up potentially that we haven’t talked about too much yet in New York, so she holds a lot of intrigue.”

Patrick Harbron/Hulu

New York's underground is a wild space that we haven't really seen on Only Murders yet so I know we're in for one very interesting season — because if this show is going to go there, they're going to go there.

Executive producer Dan Fogelman told The Wrapwe can look forward to “another big fun mystery the writers have been cooking up," while Hoffman has gone on the record saying the new episodes will “hit on some very current things going on within New York, specifically very relevant things that are happening in the city right now.”

When is Only Murders in the Building season 5 coming out?

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Release Date

According to The Wrap, Only Murders is looking to begin production on season 5 in March of 2025. Considering we've had a new season over the last four years (with season 1 in 2021, season 2 in 2022, season 3 in 2023, and season 4 in 2024), we're expecting to see season 5 in 2025. Stay tuned for the official Only Murders in the Building season 5 release date.

Who's in Only Murders in the Building season 5?

Eric McCandless/Disney

Only Murders in the Building Season 5 Cast

The cast of Only Murders in the Building includes Selena Gomez, Martin Short, and Steve Martin. Téa Leoni will also return as Sofia Caccimelio, whose husband Nicky has gone missing.

According to Dan Fogelman, “we can expect more big guest stars that’ll probably be announced sooner rather than later,” he tells The Wrap.

Season 3 featured Ashley Park, Paul Rudd, Meryl Streep, and Jesse Williams, while season 4 stars Streep, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Kumail Nanjiani, Desmin Borges, Siena Werber, Lilian Rebelo, and Molly Shannon.

"I am so grateful that I have been surrounded by human beings that make me better, challenge me, remind me day after day that every moment is a gift," Selena Gomez says about working with Martin and Short. "That’s my pure joy. I thank god for the era I’m in. It’s been the best yet."

Will there be an Only Murders in the Building season 5?

Patrick Harbron/Hulu

Yes, Only Murders in the Building has been renewed for season 5! On September 4, Variety confirmed the next installment will have 10 episodes, just like the seasons before it. The latest season premiered on Hulu August 27, and will last until October 29 (just in time to try out an Only Murders Halloween costume!)

Just like the season 3 ending set up season 4, we'll have to wait for the October finale to figure out what kind of mayhem Mabel, Oliver, and Charles will get into next season. "We hope you like it!" Selena Gomez says in the Only Murders in the Building account's announcement, while Martin Short adds, "How exciting is that?"

"We're so exciting to be coming back," Steve Martin says. We're excited too!!

As times change, so do our cultural norms, and what was once considered groundbreaking or entertaining in Hollywood can now raise eyebrows or leave modern audiences downright appalled.

So, many old movies have themes, scenes, or characters that just wouldn't fly if they were made today. Whether due to outdated stereotypes, problematic depictions, or jokes that have aged like milk, here are 10 classic movies that would definitely get canceled in 2025.

Scroll to see which classic movies would totally get canceled in 2025!

Universal Pictures

1. I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (2007)

Adam Sandler may be a comedy legend, but it's no secret that his seemingly fun-loving material can toe the line of offensiveness.

One of the biggest examples is his 2007 film, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry. Starring alongside Kevin James, the pair portray two straight firefighters who pretend to be a married gay couple in order to secure health benefits.

The movie relies on outdated gay stereotypes, ranging from exaggerated mannerisms to jokes that depend on the mere idea of queerness being inherently funny. If it were made today, this film would definitely be viewed as tone-deaf.

Jack Rollins & Charles H. Joffe Productions

2. Manhattan (1979)

It's hard to think that Manhattan would ever be made today in the post-#MeToo era. The plot's central romance revolves around Isaac Davis, a 42-year-old man dating a 17-year-old high school student named Tracy.

Sure, the movie acknowledges the ethical concerns of the relationship. Nonetheless, the fact remains that this dynamic is the core of the film, and many have questioned how such a story was ever normalized in the first place.

Everyman Pictures

3. Borat (2006)

When this mockumentary came out in 2006, it raked in over $260 million at the box office and became one of the most quotable films of its time.

Regardless, this satirical film leans into a lot of offensive stereotypes to get laughs. The title character is misogynistic, mocks feminists, adopts exaggerated Black stereotypes and expresses antisemitic beliefs.

While the movie's intention was to expose ignorance and prejudice, many would probably miss the joke (and only see the offense) in today's climate.

MGM Studios

4. Pretty Maids All in a Row (1971)

Written in 1981 by Gene Roddenberry, Pretty Maids All in a Row follows a high school gym teacher who seduces multiple female students. It's deeply unsettling.

There is a serial killer subplot, but this attempt to balance the story does little to condemn the predatory behavior. And it wouldn't go over well with audiences today.

United Artists

5. Rain Man (1988)

Rain Man was a huge success in 1988, but its portrayal of autism hasn't aged well. This comedy-drama is about a car dealer, played by Tom Cruise, who finds out his estranged father died and tries to make sure his late dad's $3 million estate is left to him instead of his brother, Raymond, who has autism.

Dustin Hoffman's performance as Raymond might've helped win the film four Academy Awards, but it also fueled misconceptions about autism.

United Artists

6. Stagecoach (1939)

Stagecoach was a landmark in movie history, but today, its portrayal of Indigenous people is impossible to ignore.

Directed by John Ford and starring John Wayne, the film reduces Indigenous people to violent antagonists who are just obstacles for the white cowboys to overcome. It reflects the deep racism of early Hollywood and would never be made in the same way today.

MGM Studios

7. Freaks (1932)

Freaks is one of the more controversial horror films of the 1930s. It's set in a circus and follows a group of sideshow performers played by real people with disabilities who take revenge on a cruel trapeze artist and her strongman after they plot to murder one of their own.

This film has been applauded for its sympathetic portrayal of the performers as more humane than their able-bodied counterparts. Still, it also sensationalized their differences, so it's unlikely a major studio would attempt anything similar today.

Universal Pictures

8. Howard The Duck (1986)

The 1980s undoubtedly produced plenty of bizarre films, but Howard The Duck took things to the next level. It was marketed as a family-friendly adventure despite its raunchy humor, adult themes, and bizarre moments.

The movie left parents horrified even back in the 1980s, so you can probably imagine how much outrage it would spark today.

20th Century Fox

9. Home Alone(1990)

Home Alone is still a favorite holiday classic, but its premise would definitely cause some major controversy today. The idea of two parents accidentally leaving their young son behind and not noticing until they're halfway across the world wouldn't be played for laughs.

Add in the fact that Kevin McCallister is left to fend off two burglars by himself, and it's easy to see why audiences now might view the film more critically and have concerns about child neglect and endangerment.

Dreamworks Pictures

10. Tropic Thunder (2008)

Finally, Tropic Thunder may be a cult classic that was intentionally provocative and used satire to critique Hollywood, but there is no way it could hit big screens today.

The character Kirk Lazarus, played by Robert Downey Jr., along with the film's outdated humor and portrayal of race (like the use of blackface), just wouldn't fly.

Audiences loved the way Greta Gerwig's Little Women brought all four March sisters to life, and Netflix's Anne with an E became so popular that when the show was canceled after season 3, 1.7 million fans signed a petition to revive the series. It all just proves that classic adaptations can make the original story even more powerful.

And the newest movie based on a book is going to be one we think about forever — and not just because of its cast. Emerald Fennell (who you'll recognize from The Crown and her work as writer & director on Satburn) is adapting Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are leading the cast!

The book, published in 1847, continues to grip readers, and it's become the blueprint for moody complexity — just like Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman, which won the Oscar for Best Screenplay thanks to its scathing look at sexual assault. Well, the Em's are coming together for this new adaptation.

Here's everything we know about Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights — and your first look at the movie.

Here's Your First Look At 'Wuthering Heights'

The first look at Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights is getting some seriously mixed reactions. The photo features a close-up image of someone (maybe Margot Robbie's) with their fingers and a few blades of grass in their mouth.

"CAN NOT WAIT," one Instagram user said, along with a couple fire emojis. But the intimate (and somewhat shocking) image also has some users asking, "what in the saltburn?"

Is Wuthering Heights going to be in theaters?

Focus Features

It appears director Emerald Fennell and producer Margot Robbie are pushing for a theatrical release, which is why they've reportedly turned down a Netflix offer of $150 million.

Despite the fact Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said theatrical releases are "just not our business," and the company has stuck to at-home streaming instead, they did break that pattern for Knives Out: Glass Onion in 2022. The movie appeared in around 600 theaters the day before Thanksgiving, but left a week later ahead of its December 23 debut on the streamer.

Co-CEO Reed Hastings told The Hollywood Reporter that keeping the movie in theaters could have made Netflix more money, but later said they just wanted to "break through the noise" and get movie lovers excited for the film to come to Netflix.

All that to be said, Margot Robbie (whose Barbie made over $1 billion worldwide) and Emerald Fennell (whose Promising Young Woman nabbed her an Oscar win and two other nominations) know how to capture the imaginations of movie lovers everywhere. And it could definitely be in their favor to stick to a theatrical release. Stay tuned for official news on where you can watch Wuthering Heights!

Wuthering Heights Cast

The Wuthering Heights movie will be led by Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, respectively. Margot will also produce with her production company LuckyChap, which worked behind the scenes on Emerald Fennell's Saltburn and Promising Young Woman.

While some fans were initially excited about the casting, others were concerned about the fact that in the book, Heathcliff is described as "dark skinned." He also tells Nelly that, "I wish I had light hair and a fair skin, and was dressed, and behaved as well, and had a chance of being as rich as he will be!" Um, it looks like Jacob Elordi definitely has fair skin to me.

"Heathcliff is described as a dark-skinned brown man in the book and a major plot point is that he was subjected to racist abuse by his adopted family," one tweet (which has over 8 million views) says. "But yeah sure Jacob Elordi is perfect!"

Another says, "Film studios will say 'We are committed to diverse casting' and then cast Jacob Elordi to play Heathcliff, one of the more famous people of color in literature, whose race is crucial to both his character and the story."

Check back here to see who will play characters like Edgar Linton, Nelly Dean, Isabella Linton, and Lockwood.

Wuthering Heights Plot

Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights follows the Earnshaws and the Lintons, who are living in the Yorkshire Moors in the 1880s. Their lives change forever when the Earnshaws take in Heathcliff. Like any good dramatic novel, passion lies beneath proper connections, marriages, and societal expectations — and despite Catherine and Heathcliffe's feelings for each other, they have to choose between security and love.

If you're someone with a dimly lit home or office, you might think that adding greenery to your space would be impossible. Think again!

There are actually plenty of low-light houseplants out there that thrive in even the darkest corners. These resilient beauties simply don't need direct sun to flourish, making them perfect for areas that lack natural light.

Whether you're a veteran plant parent or just starting out, here are 15 low-light options to brighten up your interior.

Scroll to see which plants will still totally thrive in your low-light spaces!

The Sill

1. Bromeliad Plant

The Bromeliad is a unique, low-light indoor plant that's great for spaces with limited natural sunlight. It can even thrive under fluorescent light, making it a solid choice for offices or rooms without windows.

It also loves humidity, so it does particularly well in bathrooms where moisture is abundant. The best part? They're non-toxic to pets, meaning you can enjoy some colorful blooms worry-free.

West Elm

2. Snake Plant

Sometimes referred to as "mother-in-law's tongue," the Snake Plant is the ultimate low-maintenance houseplant. It can survive for months without light and requires very little water, making it ideal for even the busiest plant parents.

For optimal care, just water it every two to three weeks, and it will flourish with minimal additional effort.

Rooted

3. Boston Fern

The Boston Fern also does well in areas with indirect sunlight, and it loves humidity.

To keep it happy, simply ensure the water stays consistently moist and mist the plant periodically. Regular pruning every few months will prevent it from becoming too unruly as well.

Plants.com

4. Prayer Plant

The Prayer Plant is known for its unique foliage that opens and closes with the sun, giving it the appearance of "praying" as day turns to night. Even with this cool behavior, though, it's quite easy to care for.

This variety thrives in low to medium light and appreciates humidity, so it's best kept in bathrooms or kitchens. All you have to do is water it when the top quarter of the soil feels dry.

Williams Sonoma

5. Spider Plant

The Spider Plant is one of the most popular houseplants, and for good reason. It's flexible and extremely simple to care for.

It can adapt to low light conditions and prefers comfortable room temperatures. Just make sure the soil is always slightly moist to keep your Spider Plant happy.

The Sill

6. Parlor Palm

This variety is a resilient and attractive low-light plant that can brighten up any space with its feathery, arching leaves.

While it thrives in medium light, it can also tolerate lower light conditions. Otherwise, it enjoys humidity and extra moisture, but it doesn't require frequent watering. Every two weeks is typically enough to do the trick.

The Sill

7. Wax Plant

Wax Plants are super easygoing when it comes to light and care. They flourish in bright light, but they also adapt well to lower light conditions, making them a versatile pick for a variety of spaces.

They're also able to bounce back if you forget to water them every now and then!

Amazon

8. Sago Palm

Have you always wanted a palm tree in your home? If so, the Sago Palm offers the perfect opportunity.

Even though this plant does best in bright, direct light, it can deal with lower light conditions due to its adaptability. However, it's important to note that it's particular when it comes to watering.

You should only water the Sago Palm after the top inch of soil has dried out. Over-watering is the quickest way to harm this plant.

The Sill

9. Monstera Deliciosa

Known for its large, dramatic leaves, the Monstera Deliciosa is surprisingly adaptable. It can tolerate low-light conditions while growing at a slower pace.

Just keep in mind that, while stunning, this variety is toxic to both humans and pets, so it shouldn't be ingested.

Rooted

10. Calathea Peacock

Featuring pink and red flecks, the Calathea Peacock is a stunning addition to any indoor plant collection. It can flourish in bright light and handle up to eight hours of sunlight per day.

Yet, at the same time, it's also perfectly content in lower light conditions and is non-toxic.

The Sill

11. Money Tree

If you're searching for a larger indoor plant that does well in medium, indirect light, look no further than the Money Tree. It's sure to be a standout in any room and is extremely easy to care for.

Simply plant it in a well-draining potting mix and place it a few feet away from a sunny window.

The Sill

12. ZZ Plant

New plant parents shouldn't overlook the ZZ Plant, which is beloved for its low-maintenance nature. It can tolerate low light and can go weeks without water!

Just be sure to water this variety whenever the soil has dried out entirely. Also, remember that it is toxic to both cats and dogs.

Williams Sonoma

13. English Ivy

English Ivy enjoys high-humidity environments and doesn't need bright light to flourish. So, it's ideal for moist, low-light areas, just like your bathroom!

It has fast-growing vines and can quickly become a lush addition to your space. You can consider using a hanging planter or vine supports to guide its growth and keep its spreading under control.

The Sill

14. Red Anthurium

The Red Anthurium is an excellent choice if you want to add a splash of color to your space. Sometimes referred to as the flamingo flower, it features stunning red blooms that can last up to eight weeks.

It does well in low to medium light, too, making it a versatile option for all sorts of spaces.

Home Depot

15. Begonia Rex

Last but not least is Begonia Rex, a low-light indoor plant that prefers bright, indirect sunlight because direct rays can scorch its leaves. To keep this variety comfortable, ensure conditions remain humid and around 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
