Growing up, many of us wondered if we were secretly related to royalty – perhaps a lost duchess or a far-off relation to an earl. When The Princess Diaries hit the screens in 2001, Anne Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis proved that it actually could happen, at least in Hollywood movies. We were even lucky enough to get to watch Mia look for love in The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement, and now we get to jump back into the beloved royal’s awkward adventures with the news of an upcoming Princess Diaries 3. Start polishing your tiaras now for a royally epic viewing party, ladies!
Giving the juicy news to People, director Garry Marshall said, “I was with Anne Hathaway a couple weeks ago, it looks like we want to do Princess Diaries 3 in Manhattan.” Woo!
When will we get to see our bestie Mia again? Marshall explained it might not be quite as soon as we might hope. “Anne Hathaway is very pregnant, so we have to wait until she has the baby and then I think we’re going to do it.” So, it looks like we’ll be waiting for a little while longer while Anne Hathaway takes time to enjoy her baby-on-the-way — but we’re sure the crown-topped comedy will be worth the wait.
Now, the big question! Will Chris Pine, who warred with, then wooed, Princess Mia in Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, be in the third installment? “Maybe,” Marshall said. “He’s quite big now, you know.” Oh, we know!
