How to Make Money from Your Smartphone Pics

It’s a bit embarrassing just how many photos we take with our phones here at Brit HQ. Pretty much every event in our office is documented—from all angles. And for the most part they just get posted to Instagram, Facebook, and/or Twitter. But there are a few new companies that are looking to help us, and all of you, make a little extra cash off all those photos. Whether it’s by posting the photos you’ve already taken, or going “on assignment” we’re excited to expand our mobile photo skills, and maybe pocket a little change on the side. (photo via Photojojo)

1. Snapwire: Snapwire is a site that connects people who need photos with mobile photographers who will go out and photograph the requested assignment. So if you need a photo of a skyline (of a city you don’t live in) you can post a request for the photo on Snapwire. Then the photographers in that area can go out and shoot the photo you need, and respond to your ad. You pick the winner, and pay them for the photo.

What makes us really love Snapwire are the five values that make up their mission. We especially appreciate that they respect the photographers, and let them retain control of the copyright to their images, along with paying them for the photos they take.

Snapwire is currently still in private beta, but you can sign up for access to request and submit your photos here. We can’t wait to test it out!

2. Foap: If you’re more interested in just sharing the photos you already take, check out Foap, a mobile app and web marketplace for listing your digital photos for sale. So here, you have complete creative control with the subject matter. (Foap does have what they call Foap Missions as well, but all of those are for brands running contests, not peer-to-peer like Snapwire has the potential to be.)

When you’re ready to list a bunch of your photos, you can do so via the app. To keep quality control high, Foap asks users to rate five new photos for every photo they upload. Once you’ve rated your five photos, yours will be rated by the community. You have to have a rating of at least 2.5 in order to have your photo listed. After that your photo will appear in the marketplace and be available for anyone to purchase rights to use it for just $10, of which you’ll get half. The other half goes to Foap to cover costs of running the business. Before you upload, be sure to check the two different licenses available for your photos, and see how each photo can be used.

The best part about it is that each of your photos can be sold as many times as you want. There’s no limit to the number of people who can buy it, so you stand to make some serious dough just by sharing that amazing sunset you captured on your last vacation. And it’s so easy to sign up, you can probably do it the next time you’re waiting around at the doctor’s office or in line at the DMV.

3. Scoopshot If you’re more of a news junkie than a portrait or landscape photographer, try using Scoopshot. It’s a similar setup to Snapwire (and is currently more popular in Europe based on the photo requests posted), but you can get paid to take photos of news events happening near you, and even end up with a photo in print! In addition to actual news photos, you’ll see larger outlets like USA Today using Scoopshot to run photo contests. Currently, they are looking for high school athletes participating in summer practice sessions.

If you’re looking to get a photo published somewhere (even if it’s overseas), Scoopshot is the one to check out.

Of all the fast food breakfast sandwiches out there, McDonald’s Egg McMuffin is one that has truly stood the test of time. In celebration of 50 years of the McDonald’s breakfast menu icon, the chain is offering $1 Egg McMuffins – for a limited time only.

Scroll on for all the details you need to know about McDonald’s $1 Egg McMuffin promo!

McDonald’s

The Egg McMuffin is beloved for its layers of melted cheese and fluffy eggs (which McDonald’s saysare sourced 100% cage-free in the U.S.), all stacked inside a toasted and buttered English muffin. In addition to the classic cheese and egg combo, you can also find the sammie made with Canadian bacon or sausage on the menu.

McDonald’s

Now clocking in a whopping 50 years on the McDonald’s menu, the fast food giant says the McMuffin is “still the GOAT.” To honor its undeniable icon status, McDonald’s is offering $1 Egg McMuffins(or Sausage McMuffins with Egg) on March 2 only – a day they’re deeming National Egg McMuffin Day.

McDonald’s

The promo will only be available exclusively through the McDonald’s app on Sunday, March 2. You must be a rewards member to take advantage of the deal!

McDonald’s

"At McDonald's, breakfast isn't just a meal; it's a cherished tradition and cornerstone of our brand," said McDonald's USA President Joe Erlinger. "Every morning when we open our doors, we are a breakfast restaurant. Whether it’s my personal favorite, the Egg McMuffin, or our crispy Hash Browns, fluffy hotcakes, or sweet and savory McGriddles, we’re all about giving our customers the best start to their day. Our fans know they can always count on us for a one-of-a-kind breakfast experience, anchored in great value and high-quality ingredients."

The $1 Egg McMuffin promo comes at the perfect time as the U.S. experiences a nationwide egg shortage due to a bird flu outbreak – with prices for a dozen climbing up to as much as $12. I personally haven’t bought eggs in 6 weeks or so due to my grocery store either being completely sold-out or posting insane prices for them, so I’m very excited to hop on over to McD’s on March 2.

McDonald’s

McDonald’s also announced several additional promos that customers can enjoy in March and beyond. Take note:

  • From March 3 through March 30, fans can enjoy a BOGO free Sausage McMuffin with Egg when they make a McDelivery order in the McDonald's App.
  • Bagel Sandwiches are now available nationwide, orderable as a Bacon, Egg & Cheese or Steak, Egg & Cheese combo.
  • New Yorkers can now enjoy fresh Krispy Kreme donuts at participating McDonald’s locations. McDonald’s says “more than half” of U.S. restaurants will sell Krispy Kreme donuts by the end of 2025.

Audiences loved the way Greta Gerwig's Little Women brought all four March sisters to life, and Netflix's Anne with an E became so popular that when the show was canceled after season 3, 1.7 million fans signed a petition to revive the series. It all just proves that classic adaptations can make the original story even more powerful.

And the newest movie based on a book is going to be one we think about forever — and not just because of its cast. Emerald Fennell (who you'll recognize from The Crown and her work as writer & director on Satburn) is adapting Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights and Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are leading the cast!

The book, published in 1847, continues to grip readers, and it's become the blueprint for moody complexity — just like Emerald Fennell's Promising Young Woman, which won the Oscar for Best Screenplay thanks to its scathing look at sexual assault. Well, the Em's are coming together for this new adaptation.

Here's everything we know about Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights — and your first look at the movie.

Here's Your First Look At 'Wuthering Heights'

The first look at Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights is getting some seriously mixed reactions. The photo features a close-up image of someone (maybe Margot Robbie's) with their fingers and a few blades of grass in their mouth.

"CAN NOT WAIT," one Instagram user said, along with a couple fire emojis. But the intimate (and somewhat shocking) image also has some users asking, "what in the saltburn?"

Is Wuthering Heights going to be in theaters?

Focus Features

It appears director Emerald Fennell and producer Margot Robbie are pushing for a theatrical release, which is why they've reportedly turned down a Netflix offer of $150 million.

Despite the fact Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos said theatrical releases are "just not our business," and the company has stuck to at-home streaming instead, they did break that pattern for Knives Out: Glass Onion in 2022. The movie appeared in around 600 theaters the day before Thanksgiving, but left a week later ahead of its December 23 debut on the streamer.

Co-CEO Reed Hastings told The Hollywood Reporter that keeping the movie in theaters could have made Netflix more money, but later said they just wanted to "break through the noise" and get movie lovers excited for the film to come to Netflix.

All that to be said, Margot Robbie (whose Barbie made over $1 billion worldwide) and Emerald Fennell (whose Promising Young Woman nabbed her an Oscar win and two other nominations) know how to capture the imaginations of movie lovers everywhere. And it could definitely be in their favor to stick to a theatrical release. Stay tuned for official news on where you can watch Wuthering Heights!

Wuthering Heights Cast

The Wuthering Heights movie will be led by Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie as Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, respectively. Margot will also produce with her production company LuckyChap, which worked behind the scenes on Emerald Fennell's Saltburn and Promising Young Woman.

While some fans were initially excited about the casting, others were concerned about the fact that in the book, Heathcliff is described as "dark skinned." He also tells Nelly that, "I wish I had light hair and a fair skin, and was dressed, and behaved as well, and had a chance of being as rich as he will be!" Um, it looks like Jacob Elordi definitely has fair skin to me.

"Heathcliff is described as a dark-skinned brown man in the book and a major plot point is that he was subjected to racist abuse by his adopted family," one tweet (which has over 8 million views) says. "But yeah sure Jacob Elordi is perfect!"

Another says, "Film studios will say 'We are committed to diverse casting' and then cast Jacob Elordi to play Heathcliff, one of the more famous people of color in literature, whose race is crucial to both his character and the story."

Check back here to see who will play characters like Edgar Linton, Nelly Dean, Isabella Linton, and Lockwood.

Wuthering Heights Plot

Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights follows the Earnshaws and the Lintons, who are living in the Yorkshire Moors in the 1880s. Their lives change forever when the Earnshaws take in Heathcliff. Like any good dramatic novel, passion lies beneath proper connections, marriages, and societal expectations — and despite Catherine and Heathcliffe's feelings for each other, they have to choose between security and love.

Tributes continue to pour in for the late Michelle Trachtenberg after she passed away on February 26, 2205 — and her former TV big sister, Sarah Michelle Gellar, just shared her own emotional post. The actresses played sisters on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Joss Whedon's cult classic fantasy series that ran from 1997 to 2003. And now, Sarah paid tribute to her on-screen little sister with a carousel of sweet photos and an emotional Buffy reference. This is what she shared.

Here's what Sarah Michelle Gellar said about Buffy co-star, Michelle Trachtenberg:

Instagram/sarahmgellar

The post featured a slideshow of photos from Buffy, as well as snapshots of the two of them throughout their lives. Michelle was 15 years old when she joined the cast in 2000, and the carousel of photos really capture how these two grew up together the three years they were on set with each other.

Sarah captioned the post, “Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you"

Sarah's moving words are a direct reference to her time with Michelle on Buffy. The quote comes from this emotional scene, but Sarah altered it to be about her late friend and former co-star.

Unfortunately, this loss comes on the heels of another Buffy co-star's passing — Shannen Doherty died on July 13, 2024 after battling cancer for years. Sarah's emotional tribute to Shannen was heartbreaking, starting with, "How can you possibly find the right words to sum up 30 years of friendship?"

We hope Sarah — and all of Michelle's family, friends, and fans — is able to take care of herself while she mourns this tragedy.

Glen Powell has already had the career of a lifetime, and he's just getting started. Set It Up (the ultimate rom-com), Top Gun: Maverick (the ultimate sequel), and Twisters (the ultimate summer movie) are three of my favorite films of all time, but there's one role he had in 2017 you probably never knew: Nina Dobrev's boyfriend. YUP. Before the Vampire Diaries star got engaged to Shawn White, and before Glen Powell was seen in the back of a car with Lily James, these two were an item.

Let's take a look down memory lane — back to 2017 when Glen Powell & Nina Dobrev dated!

Glen Powell and Nina Dobrev definitely matched each other's energy.

Glen Powell and Nina Dobrev celebrated a Texas New Year's together in 2017, and then Glen showed up to the premiere of Nina's movie xXx: Return of Xander Cage. Not to mention the fact they were spotted at a Golden Globes afterparty together.

"They have a similar group of friends and have been seeing each other on the low for a little while," a source told E! News, while another said, "All of their friends like them together. They both feel pretty comfortable around each other."

We already know Nina is the master of costumes (see her costumes with fiancé Shawn White for reference), and for Nina's 28th birthday in 2017, she threw a La La Land-themed party, complete with themed outfits — and the iconic pose from the movie poster with Glen.

In July 2017, Glen Powell and Nina Dobrev got very cozy (and goofy) in a photo booth at Julianne Hough's wedding to Brooks Laich. Say what you want about this couple, but they definitely matched each other's energy.

The couple seemingly called it quits by the end of 2017, but have been in the same circles since! They had a great time at the 2020 InStyle and Warner Bros. Golden Globe afterparty and took a pic together at the 2022 Omega Masters. Nina and Shaun are also good friends with Miles and Keleigh Teller, and showed up to the premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in 2022 (which, of course, also stars Glen Powell).

These two are proving you really can be friends with your exes.

Did you know Glen Powell and Nina Dobrev dated? I would have loved to see Glen make a guest appearance on The Vampire Diaries...but maybe they'll work together in the future. Follow us on Instagram for more celebrity relationship news!
