"Stranger Things 5" Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

You might already know that the WGA Strike has affected late night shows like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and SNL, but it's also begun affecting scripted television as well. On May 6, Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators and showrunners of Stranger Things, announced on Twitter that production on the final season would be put on hold.

"Writing does not stop when filming begins," the brothers write. "While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work."

Parts one and two of Stranger Things4 dropped on Netflix on May 27 and July 1, 2022, respectively. In November of 2022, in honor of Stranger Things Day, the writers posted a photo of the script for the first episode of season five, titled "Chapter One: The Crawl."

While we don't have a ton of info on the final season, we do know that it will call back to season one for a finale that comes full circle.

"Will's going to be a big part and focus," Matt Duffer told Collider. Will's disappearance in the pilot kickstarts the whole show, and it appears that Stranger Things 5 will devote a good amount of time to his arc. "We're starting to see his coming of age, really. Which has been challenging for a number of reasons, some of which are supernatural. But you're starting to see him come into his own."

But Will's story won't be the only callback, Ross Duffer said, via The Hollywood Reporter: “I think that what we’re trying to do is go back to the beginning a little bit in the tone of [season] one, but scale-wise it’s more in line with what [season] four is...Hopefully it’s got a little bit of everything.”

If you're waiting for 1923 season 2, I've got good news for you. You don't have to spend the next month rewatching season 1 because Netflix just dropped a brand new TV show that is giving MAJOR Yellowstone universe vibes. Set in 1857, American Primeval is all about family and survival, which sounds a lot like the Duttons if you ask me. Lock in, friends, because you'll probably binge it in one sitting.

Here's everything you need to know about American Primeval, streaming on Netflix now.

Where can I watch American Primeval?

All six episodes of American Primeval are available to watch on Netflix now. The episodes range from 36 minutes to just over an hour. That means it's the perfect TV show to binge watch this weekend!

What is American Primeval about?

In 1857 Utah, cultures clash when Indigenous peoples, settlers, and the Mormon militia begin a fight for the land. Sara (Betty Gilpin) and Devin (Preston Mota) are searching for Devin's father when they meet Two Moons (Shawnee Pourier), a Native American who escaped abuse. When their group is attacked, the trio is taken under the wing of Isaac (Taylor Kitsch).

And fans are loving it! One X user tweeted that it's "one of the best series Netflix has made," while another calls it a "masterpiece."

Who's in the cast?

American Primeval stars Taylor Kitsch as Isaac Reed, Betty Gilpin as Sara Rowell, Dane DeHaan as Jacob Pratt, Saura Lightfoot-Leon as Abish Pratt, Derek Hinkey as Red Feather, Joe Tippett as James Wolsey, Jai Courtney as Virgil Cutter, Preston Mota as Devin Rowell, Shawnee Pourier as Two Moons, and Shea Whigham as Jim Bridger.

Is American Primeval based on fact?

Matt Kennedy/Netflix

American Primeval is a fictionalized version of history, so while it features real events like the Utah War and the Mountain Meadows Massacre (in which the Mormon militia murdered a wagon train of travelers on their way to California), the details and main characters were created for the series.

But one real detail about the TV show? Taylor Kitsch learned the Shoshone language from elders at the Wind River Reservation for his role as Isaac. "One of my dialect coaches, she's in her late 70s and the last thing she wants to do is get this language written down," he told Q's Tom Power. "I'm so lucky to do this kind of stuff."

"To give yourself to a project worth telling….You're servicing something bigger than you," he continues. "There's a legacy. There's something there that humbles you quite quickly and I love that challenge."

Will there be a season 2 for American Primeval?

American Primeval was originally released as a limited series. But given the success of the show, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up getting a new season! Stay tuned for updates on American Primeval season 2.

We've covered a lot of cute nail ideas, but we've finally narrowed down the 'outdated' trends artists and nail techs are seeing less of. It's not that 3D art isn't cute anymore, but Maria Jones, a nail artist on the platform CoverClap, says she's got a feeling "neutral and minimalist nail styles will always have a place in the world of beauty." And if I'm being honest, it seems that's what people are more interested in when it comes to their nails right now.

Jones adds, "Simple nude tones, soft pinks, and sheer polishes are staples because they're universally flattering and appropriate for any occasion." For a pop of color, "classic red nails" are another "timeless trend" that makes them "a go-to choice for many, regardless of the season or year."

Knowing this, we asked Jones — and consulted this GlossGenius trend report — which trends are on the outs as well as what you can wear instead!

Scroll to learn about which outdated nail trends it's time to give up for 2025!

Etsy

1. Duck Nails

Considered one of the more gaudier nail trends on our list, duck nails are officially OUT. GlossGenius reports that this style and "chunky highlights are falling out of favor according to professionals." The reason for this is that they're seeing more "clients lean towards sleek, minimalist styles."

Cora Pursley

2. 3D Embellishments

Another trend GlossGenius considers 'outdated' is excessive nail art. Jones agrees, saying, "I think we'll see less of the really textured nail arts-like excessive 3D embellishments that have been really dominating the scenes in recent years." As cute as they are, more people are looking towards wearing nails.

Etsy

3. Ultra-Long Nails

Jones says, "Another thing which is leaving is ultra-long and stiletto-shaped nails." However, this doesn't give you the license to ask about women's bathroom habits if you spot them wearing this style (major side eye to Dax Shepard's interview with Cynthia Erivo).

Nail Reformation

4. French Tip Design

This nail trend is controversial because it's technically 'outdated'. But, it's been revamped so many times that it's not fair to tell you not to wear it anymore. According to GlossGenius, they're "seeing a major comeback, with demand increasing by 87% over the past year." Based on their findings, "updated takes like colored or ombré tips are especially popular."

Pop Polished

4. Jelly Nails

Unfortunately, we haven't seen as many people wearing the once popular 'jelly nails' that were everywhere. I personally think the concept was cute for a while, but phased out after summer. For all we know, they could make a brief comeback but not long enough to make a year-long impact.

Milagros Argüello

Nail Trends To Try In 2025

1. 'Structured Gel Overlay'

GlossUp has seen a 214% increase in clients asking for services like Gel-X. Unlike regular nail polish, this process involves a UV lamp that 'cures' the color you've selected. It's also meant to last longer than a regular manicure.

Mariam Kajaia

2. Dip Powder

Remember when people learned how to do their nails during the early days of the pandemic? Well, the nail trend of using dip powder is here to stay! Instead of being applied to false nails, acrylic powder is placed over your natural nails. This is yet another way to make your manicure last longer instead of solely relying on nail polish.

Jasmine Williams

3. Almond Nails

Instead of seeing super long stiletto nails, Jones says these "dramatic lengths are being replaced with more functional shapes like almond or short square nails." She calls them "stylish yet manageable" which I personally agree with as a busy mom.

If you need more outdated hot takes, here are 8 makeup trends to steer clear of this year.

Who can forget days spent lounging on our grandparents' sofas while they watched one of their preferred 'old-school' TV shows? If they weren't tuned into The Price Is Right or Wheel of Fortune, they were probably watching I Love Lucy or Gilligan's Island. We may have complained at first...until we realized how kooky and fun these series were. Where else were we going to get slapstick comedy in black and white?

Since we hardly see rerun episodes of these timeless classics anymore, we're celebrating them by remembering why we loved them so much — and letting you know where you can stream them right now!

Here are all the old school TV shows we miss seeing on our screens!

Apple TV+

1. I Love Lucy

Stream: Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Paramount+
We thought we'd gladly be housewives if it meant we got to be gorgeous and witty like Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball). Together with her on-screen husband Ricky Ricardo (eventual off-screen ex-husband Desi Arnez), she showed that housewives could find things to do besides maintaining a home.
She and her neighbor/best friend Ethel Mertz would often find themselves in hilarious situations that were reprimanded by their Ricky as well as Ethel's husband, Fred Mertz (William Frawley). Remember the episode Lucy and Ethel tried working at a chocolate factory? We vowed never to think we had what it takes to be on anyone's assembly line after watching it.

Amazon Prime Video

2. The Brady Bunch

Stream: Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+

The Brady Bunch took having a stepfamily and turned it on its head with the blended Brady family. Because of their love for each other, Mike and Carol happily took on each other's children as their own: Greg, Marcia, Jan, Peter, Bobby, and Cindy. There was also the housekeeper Alice and the the lovable dog, Tiger!

Each episode seemed to revolve around getting used to living together, sibling rivalry, and more adventures that often ended in valuable lessons. Despite their differences, the Bradys showed that families don't have to be perfect to have a lot of love.

Amazon Prime Video

3. The Andy Griffith Show

Stream: Amazon Prime Video, Peacock, Paramount+
Andy Griffith was America's favorite sheriff and father because he seemed to know just what to say or do in different situations. Goofily assisted by deputy Barney Fife, he worked to balance solving petty crimes with raising his young son, Opie. Also, we can't forget the warmth and wit Aunt Bee brought to the show!

Apple TV+

4. Gilligan's Island

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video
Before Lost, many of us remember watching Gilligan's Island with our grandparents. Our favorite part of theme song is, "The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle with Gilligan, the Skipper too, the millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the professor and Mary Ann. Here on Gilligan's Isle!"
There were so many different personalities that we could always count on something silly to happen.

Roku

5. I Dream of Jeannie

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video
This is a hot take, but I Dream of Jeannie was a little cringe even back then. But, we still loved watching Jeannie make an incredible mark in Captain Tony Nelson's life. We're not saying we agreed with her sneaking into his bag or breaking off his initial engagement, but she sure knew how to cause a scene.
Maybe this is why we love watching reality TV drama 👀.

Amazon Prime Video

6. Leave It to Beaver

Stream: Amazon Prime Video
Leave It to Beaver felt appropriate for us to watch because it was all about young Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver's mischievous adventurous with his friends and the silly sibling rivalry that took place with his older brother Wallace aka Wally. It spoke to the accuracy of growing up as a kid who has an active imagination and too much time on their hands, no different than when some of us were kids.

Peacock

7. The Dick Van Dyke Show

Stream: Peacock, Amazon Prime Video
The Dick Van Dyke Show gave us an imagined look at the production of a TV show where Rob Petrie was the star. Somehow he'd try to split time between his career and personal life, often with funny results. Set in New York, it gave us a taste of having a budding creative career and family, not unlike what some of us having today.

Amazon Prime Video

8. Bewitched

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video
Aside from Lucy and Ricky, our favorite TV couple used to be Samantha and Darrin from Bewitched. Despite their love for each other, it's obvious they have hiccups to navigate in their marriage. Darrin wants Samantha fit into suburbia while her family could care less about her changing who she is. With a twitch of her nose, Samantha could deploy a spell in no time...even if Darrin didn't always approve.

Peacock

9. The Munsters

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Peacock
The Munsters is another classic TV show that seemed to poke fun at living life in the suburbs. Unlike The Addams Family, the Munsters did their best to assimilate into their neighborhood as much as possible. Despite the glaring fact their family's comprised of vampires, Frankenstein, and an unseen pet, it was a touching show that placed a huge value on a family's love for each other.

Apple TV+

9. The A-Team

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video
Did we really watch old school TV show reruns if they didn't include one episode of The A-Team? It's the prime reason we randomly say, "I pity the fool," in the voice of Mr. T. Aside from that, Faceman, Hannibal, and Murdock helped round out the team with their various expertise from being in the Special Forces. We saw them go on various 'missions' that usually involved fight scenes, explosives, and risky getaways.
It was a departure from some of the other shows we watched, but there was something exciting about seeing them find outlandish ways to escape narrow moments.

Hulu

11. M*A*S*H

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu

Some of us have family members who served in the different branches of the military so watching M*A*S*H helped us make sense of some things that may have happened BTS. Specifically focusing on the 'hospital' portion of the war, M*A*S*H. Though there were some funny moments, but the show also did a great job of showing how scary the war could be.

It was expertly produced in our opinion and continues to be one of the shows we miss watching.

Peacock

12. The Beverly Hillbillies

Stream: Amazon Prime Video, Peacock
Last, but not least, The Beverly Hillbillies routinely takes up space in our brains. There was something funny yet endearing about seeing Jed, Elly May, Jethro, and Granny pack up their lives in the country to move to the glamorous California. The Clampetts may not have been posh like their neighbors, but they made sure there was never a dull moment when they were on TV.

Vanderpump Ruleshad quite a yearin 2024. After news of the infamous affair between Tom and Raquel (who we now call Rachel) broke, the show was never the same. Dynamics shifted, certain cast members stopped filming together, and the fun, flirty, and risky undertone we’d all come to love seemingly ceased to exist before our eyes. So, the announcement of Bravo discontinuing the original cast for their 12th season was far from a surprise.

While the show will carry on, its original, titular cast will not, which is why I’m reminiscing on the good ol’ days. If you too want a nostalgic re-watch, look no further!

Here are the 11 seasons of Vanderpump Rules ranked, from best to worst.

1. Season 2

Bravo

I know I may be stirring the pot putting season 2 in first place, especially over season 10, but in my humble opinion, season 2 didn’t have a single boring episode due to the drama-filled shenanigans the cast constantly got into. It was peak Jax Taylor and Stassi post-breakup flirting, followed by fighting within the same moment. Some of the show’s most iconic lines come from season 2, and for that, and that alone, it’s my favorite season. And how can anyone forget the infamous Golden Nugget dialogue between Stassi and Tom Sandoval? If you’ve forgotten, let me jog your memory.

“Three years ago, me and Ariana made out in a swimming pool at the Golden Nugget, yes that did happen” says a nonchalant and overly-confident Sandoval. To which Stassi replies, “The Golden Nugget? That’s like an all time low.” It's a moment of comedic relief, when it’s really not supposed to be, given Sandoval is admitting to cheating on his long time girlfriend, but I digress. Sandoval goes, “Are you kidding me? I love that place.”

2. Season 6

Bravo

“Rawt in hell!” If you read that in a southern Kentucky accent, you know exactly why I put this season at number 2. Another season chock full of iconic lines, season 6 did not disappoint. Brittany, who made it loud and clear that she moved all the way from Kentucky to Los Angeles just to be with Jax, was inevitably cheated on. While terrible for Brittany, it made for great content brimming with screaming matches and tears galore.

3. Season 1

Bravo

The season that started it all. We were introduced to the eclectic world of the Sexy Unique Restaurant, AKA SUR, in Los Angeles and its staff that would bring us over 10 years of fights, scandals, and gossip. We’re catapulted into this series off the heels of a tense conversation between Scheana Shay and Brandi Glanville. It’s not until the end of their conversation where Scheana gets up, and walks into what would soon be one of Bravo’s most popular series.

I hope Bravo gave whoever thought of that introduction a raise, because it was quite literally the most iconic way to start a reality show. There’s something poetic about a reality show blossoming out of an affair, and ending because of one.

4. Season 3

Bravo

James Kennedy, or should I say White Kanye, is introduced in this season, thanks to “Crazy Kristen.” I’m not a fan of James for a multitude of reasons, but he did bring a flare of comedy the show lacked before his presence. Oh, and not to mention, Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix begin their tumultuous relationship in this season. Seriously, rewatching this show makes me want to hug young Ariana and simply ask her “why?”

5. Season 4

Bravo

Over the years we were met with a plethora of additions to SUR, but none of them stuck around quite like Lala Kent did. We were introduced to Lala in this season and she was an absolute force to be reckoned with and brought enough drama that proved she was in it for the long haul. Not only that, but Jax and Brittany debuted their – at this point, very fresh and unstable – relationship. If that wasn’t enough, Tom begrudgingly proposed to Katie to wrap this season up.

6. Season 5

Bravo

Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney tie the knot, and while this season should’ve been a proclamation to their love it was instead a grave indicator of their ill-fated marriage. I want to make it known, Katie is not responsible for this. I love her and do think it was all Tom’s fault — the man was more in love with his best friend. I digress, this season was phenomenally messy and I’ve gotta say, the wedding turned out to be gorgeous.

7. Season 11

Nicole Weingart/Bravo

The season that marked the end of the legacy that is Vanderpump Rules. This season was filmed after the affair heard around the world. The reason for the low ranking on this season is quite obvious – the producers were far too involved. The producers were like that kid in class that just won't stop sending you love letters and never getting the hint. I’ll never like Tom Sandoval, and had the producers understood that, maybe we would’ve still had this cast. To this day, I’m still unsure how Ariana managed to stay strong throughout it, especially with a sea of envious women—who had once been masked as her friends—plotting against her.

8. Season 10

Bravo

While most of this season was a yawn, the finale and grand reveal (we’ll call it) made the sticking around worth it. For this reason, it’s a season that’s superior during a re-watch, iykyk.

9. Season 7

Bravo

Do you remember the preceding 6th season being consumed in its entirety by the drama of Jax cheating on Brittany? Well, if that situation wasn’t already frustrating, season 7 takes the cake. Jax proposes to Brittany, she says yes, and that’s pretty much all you need to know. Kidding, of course. Major drama ensues because everyone in the group knows they shouldn’t get married – which says a lot coming from this group of people. Though, it's tired drama that dragged on two too many seasons, if you catch my drift.

10. Season 8

Bravo

The cast grows up in this season (they were in their 30s) and seemingly move onto bigger and better things – houses they all couldn’t afford. Boring additions to the cast were introduced, cough, cough Dayna and Max, and removed just as fast. All around, this season didn’t have much to offer other than Jax trying to stir up weird, pretend drama around his wedding events.

11. Season 9

Bravo

Ah, season 9. I can’t blame the cast entirely, in terms of this season’s demise, as that’s mainly due to COVID halting production. Nevertheless, it seemed as though the cast didn’t know where to pick up. (Can I blame them? The break must’ve been nice). Lala and Scheana had babies, Schaena and Brock got engaged, and the world kept on spinning.
