It’s hard to believe that only a few short months ago, we were bingeing back-to-school beauty hacks on Youtube and tweaking our on-campus looks for the year. But with half of April already behind us, the wonderful days of perfectly braided buns and deliberate preppy girl style have quickly given way to sweatpants and oversized hoodies — all thanks to the horrors of finals week. Before you go hide away in the library and fuel yourself with cheap campus pizza, take a scroll through these nine studying apps. Not only will they give you an excuse to spend a little study time on your phone, but they’ll actually make reviewing for those pesky finals a tad bit easier too.
1. Brainscape: Ever worry about all the trees we waste while making flash cards that we’re only going to use once? This conveniently free app sports an easy-to-use interface that allows anyone to find, create and share flash cards — all while helping out dear Mother Earth.
2. Easy Bib: Final papers are stressful enough without having to manicure the perfect bibliography. Thankfully, this super helpful app does all the work for you — you can even scan the barcode of a textbook and it will instantly generate the appropriate citation without you ever having to open up a sourcing guide.

3. Study Blue: If you’re looking for an all-in-one study app, look no further. From creating basic flashcards to organizing notes to tracking your study progress, this app has everything you need to succeed in the weeks ahead.

4. Quizlet: Quizzing yourself is a tried and true study method, but writing down dozens of questions and answers by hand can definitely eat away at your precious studying time. With two different quizzing modes — Q + A and matching — this app makes quiz generating easy and time efficient. Plus, their expansive quiz library is a great way to learn new things once exam week is through.
5. Photomath: Anyone in the hard sciences will love this simple-to-use app, which is basically a math tutor in the palm of your hands. Just type out a tricky equation on your laptop or tablet (unfortunately handwritten submissions don’t work yet), scan it using the app and the tech will generate the correct answer. Plus, if you tap on the red answer bar, the app will give you a step-by-step guide of how it solved the problem.
6. Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock: Everyone knows that the key to acing your finals is a good night’s sleep, no matter how tempting it may be to leave all your work until the last possible all-nighter. This app lets you analyze your sleeping patterns and optimize your night for the best sleep possible — but you’re probably going to want to start the cycle at least a week before your finals if you want to see any genuine results.
7. Any.do: There comes a point during every exam marathon where your collection of random sticky notes and scraps of paper make you seem… well, a little bit nuts. Before your roommate goes and tells the whole floor that you’re losing your marbles, try this easy-to-use app that conveniently groups all your to-do lists and notes in one place.
8. Mindomo: This online mind map generator and organizer is a great tool for anyone studying for a final essay. Not only can you organize your thoughts easily, but its real-time sharing function also allows you to share and co-edit your mind maps with your classmates too.
9. Forest: Okay, staying concentrated during a long-haul study session can be tough, even for the most dedicated students. Using this interface, studying takes on the form of a game. Whenever you want 30 minutes of undistracted work, simply grow a tree on the app. If you want your tree to grow, you have to stay on the app for the entire 30 minutes, making things like Facebook and Twitter less easily accessible. Procrastination be damned!
