I Tried The Viral Summer Friday Jet Lag Mask — Here's My Honest Opinion

Summer Friday Jet Lag Mask

I have high requirements for my skincare products, so I knew finding a face mask for my incredibly dry and eczema-prone skin would take a lot to check every box. My list of must-haves for a mask is:

  • Hydrate my skin to make it look glowy and moisturized.
  • It doesn't need to be washed off in the morning.
  • Good ingredients that were made to nourish your skin rather than detox it.

On this quest, I came across the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. I've heard quite a lot about it, given its popularity amongst social media and skincare bloggers alike. So, I thought I'd give it a try, and give you my 100% honest opinion on it in the process. Let's get into and see if this viral face mask is actually worth the hype!

About The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

Summer Fridays

One thing to note about the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask is that it's actually non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, and received the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance™. This is huge for someone like me that struggles with bad eczema. It also contains super hydrating properties like niacinamide, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and other antioxidants. These are some of my favorite, dry skin girly-approved ingredients, so I was definitely intrigued at first glance!

My Review Of The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

Kayla Walden

Like I mentioned before, I have really dry and eczema-prone skin, so I tend to get excessively dry around my nose and forehead. This can even cause dry and flakey patches to pop up, so I really wanted to find something that would treat all of those areas. I've used — and loved — Summer Fridays' moisturizers in the past, but I wanted to see how the Jet Lag mask would work.

After washing my face, I used a small amount of the product before I went to bed, and I didn't stack it with anything else (think serums and creams) to see the 100% genuine result of this product alone. When I woke up, my skin had absorbed so much of the product, but what I liked the most was that it didn't leave behind any texture or residue. Instead, I could tell that my skin drank up the product and was fully hydrated and moisturized. It felt very similar to when you use a hydrating, hyaluronic acid serum — my skin had that bounce and life to it.

Kayla Walden

The second night, I decided to use even more and see how it would feel with a thicker layer of the mask. This time, my skin felt even more hydrated when I woke up, even leaving behind a dewy glow. I really loved that I didn't need to worry about rinsing it off, too — I could just proceed with my skincare routine as if it was my base. This made for a great primer underneath my makeup, with the products sitting beautifully without gathering in dry patches that normally pop up, like I mentioned previously.

After using the mask for an entire week, I noticed that my normal dry patches and eczema-prone areas had 0 flair ups — huge for my typically drier skin. I didn't struggle with my usual flakiness and eczema, only left with dewy, glowing skin. This was major for me, because all the moisture in my skin tends to get dried out from the heat and irritate my eczema even more in the summer. But, that wasn't an issue at all when I was using this mask!

The Final Verdict On The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask

Kayla Walden

I would 100% recommend the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask to anyone, but especially to my eczema and dry skin girlies that need a little more love this summer for their skin. It can be hard to find products that not only don't irritate your skin further, but also actually hydrate and leave your skin feeling nourished. This mask left me feeling like that and then some, which is so amazing! No wonder it was Eczema Seal of Acceptance — it truly prevents patching, irritation, and gives your skin a deep, layered hydration that it will surely need in the hot summer months.

Amazon

Arvazallia Hydrating Argan Oil Hair Mask + Deep Conditioner

This $13 deep conditioner leaves your locks with such a luxurious feel, thanks to the strengthening and hydrating argan oil. The shine it gives is also impeccable! Shoppers have given it 4.5 out of 5 stars for its rich texture, effectiveness, and its ability to deliver "salon-quality" results.

Promising review: "My hair is three feet long. I use this generously around every couple weeks after I shampoo. I get as much water out of my hair, I slather on about half the tub (again, my hair is very long). I leave it in while I shave and soap up and rinse. Then I rinse it out. One side bonus is that it makes the skin on my body so soft. The smell is beautiful and I get comments about the nice smell. The end result is that my hair flows from the top to bottom. The areas that tend to look a little dry (bottom) look just as shiny and moisturized as the rest of my hair. I will use this the rest of my life and recommend it to everyone."

Amazon

OUAI Thick Hair Mask

Tom Holland and Zendaya are finally reuniting for Spider-Man 4, coming in 2026, but before Peter Parker swings back onto our screens, they'll star opposite each other in Christopher Nolan's new movie (alongside Anne Hathaway and Matt Damon!!). And as much as fans love to see them onscreen together (it's me, I'm fans), it's even more fun for Tom Holland and Zendaya to work together! And Tom just revealed why having Z in his corner is the "best thing that's ever happened to me."

Here's what Tom Holland had to say about working and filming with "saving grace" Zendaya.

Tom Holland really loves working with Zendaya.

On an episode of the Dish podcast, Tom Holland jokes that executives love casting both Zendaya and him because it saves them money. “Studios love it," he says. "One hotel room. Separate drivers. We’re not crazy now. Listen it’s work, alright?”

But while working with his partner is all fun and games, it's also become a very special part of the industry for Tom Holland. “It’s a saving grace. Yeah, best thing that’s ever happened to me,” he continues. “It’s just that perfect thing when you’re on set and a director will give you a note that maybe you don’t agree with, or I know that she doesn’t particularly like, and it’s just that, like, familiar glance at each other of like, 'Can’t wait to talk about that later.'”

And Zendaya agrees. The Euphoria actress opened up in Vanity Fair's new Hollywood 2025 issueabout what it's like to work with Tom on a project, revealing "it’s actually strangely comfortable."

"It’s like second nature, if anything," she says. "You feel extra safe with the person you’re acting beside. I love working with him. He’s so talented, and so passionate about what he does. He always gives things one thousand percent, even if he’s absolutely worn down. I really appreciate that about him. It feels pretty normal. That’s how we met. Literally, at a chemistry read." Well, I can only imagine how off the charts that chemistry read was.

And Tom Holland & Zendaya find a ton of comfort in each other.

And the comfort Tom Holland and Zendaya offer each other doesn't only happen on set. Tom recently revealed, after a video of him breaking up a paparazzi swarm went viral, just how protective he gets over Zendaya — and that Googling her actually helps him when he's feeling anxious.

“I’m not on socials, and I delete [the apps] when I’m not using [them],” he says on Samah Dada’s On the Menu podcast. “So sometimes I — it’s more of a bit of an anxiety thing...I just give it a little Google, look [through] the news, and I’m like, ‘She’s good. We’re fine.'"

And viral interview moments of Tom recognizing Zendaya's nerves and helping calm her down prove he's always got her back too. This is one match that is totally made in Heaven, and I can't get enough of them.

I knew beauty trends were officially headed in a different direction when latte makeup dominated social media last year. Everything about it gave the appearance of soft features, making this millennial appreciate the ‘no makeup’ look more and more. And while I'm working on staying up-to-date on all the latest makeup trends, it also reminded me there are outdated trends that unintentionally age people...and definitelyneedto go.

Wanna look younger and more on-trend, too? From super metallic eyeshadow to contour that dominates your face, here are the 8 outdate makeup trends to leave in the early ‘90s to mid-2000s.

The 8 outdated makeup trends you need to stop ASAP!

1. Full Coverage Foundation

KoolShooters

There was a time where wearing full-coverage foundation was all the rage. From drugstore to high-end brands, it seems like they were consistently shoved in consumers’ faces to help us achieve a ‘full beat’ without sitting in a makeup artist’s chair. Also, those of us with dark spots or hyperpigmentation may have relied on them when we were in the thick of our skincare woes.

But these days, wearing too much foundation isn’t as popular as natural and skincare makeup are prioritized. If anything, more people are interested in wearing light-to-medium coverage foundation, skin tints, or tinted moisturizers.

2. Too Much Concealer

George Milton

It wasn’t until I watched this video by makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes that I realized some of us have been too heavy-handed with our concealers. There’s no reason we should be slapping products under the thinnest parts of our face, but we didn’t know any better!

Now that you know you can still get the desired effect with a minimal amount of concealer, don’t revert back to painting your under eyes!

3. 'Baking' Your Setting Powder

Chidi Young

Before you throw away your setting powders, step away from your makeup drawer and have a sit-down chat with me. There isn’t anything wrong with applying them to your face to help ‘set’ your foundation and concealer. However, spending over 10 minutes ‘baking’ your powder (AKA letting it sit untouched) doesn’t work for everyone.

It can lead to creased makeup which can derail your look, plus it’s a pain to correct when you’re halfway through your routine!

4. Overlining Lips

Kaboompics.com

I love a good lip liner, especially if it mirrors my favorite ‘90s makeup look. But, there’s such a thing as overdoing it. The key to lining your lips is following the natural flow of them. Going out of your way to draw above and under your lips’ lines comes off as comical and exaggerated. If anything, use a lip plumping gloss to help your lips look fuller.

5. Overtweezing Your Eyebrows

Getty Images

I don’t even have the words for this outdated makeup look besides wanting to say “no” 20 times in a row. But, I’ll bite and say why this shouldn’t be on your 2025 beauty moodboard.

Some people naturally have thinner eyebrows which is A-okay! However, purposely tweezing your eyebrows to smithereens is cringey. If you truly want to wear this look, here’s what you can do instead of tweezing:

  • Create a faux bleached look by applying a skin tone colored setting powder all over your brows.
  • Once they’ve ‘disappeared,’ take an eyebrow pencil or eyeliner to draw a thin line over them.

I’m…wondering what the ramifications of telling you how to do this will be, but only use go for this look if it’s a part of a themed party…like Halloween.

6. Exaggerated Highlighter On Cheeks

Milad Farhani

The shimmery look is in since it’s winter, but please don’t make it look like you dipped your cheeks into a vat of glitter. You can lightly dust highlighter onto your cheeks for a more natural glow that flows with the rest of your look. Otherwise you’ll look like a walking disco ball which could be the opposite of what you were going for.

7. Heavy Contour Or Bronzer

Laura Garcia

I know the ‘sculpted’ look is popular, but too much contour or bronzer can overpower the rest of your makeup and face. While it’s not impossible to fix if you do it by mistake, using the wrong shade of contour or bronzer may still peep through no matter how much you try to buff it out.

When in doubt, be gentle with your contour or bronzer application!

8. Incredibly Matte Makeup

Nataliia Yatsiuk

Matte makeup that didn’t budge was the ‘It Girl’ look for oily and combination skin girls! We thought it was the answer to our skin’s incessant need to hydrate our faces instead of actually using skincare products that focused on combatting that issue (psst…Vitamin C serums help!).

But now’s the time to break up with this look for good for one reason: dewy skin looks healthier.

While we have you here, learn about the outdated shoe trends you shouldn't be wearing in 2025 either.

If you ask me, the cure for superhero fatigue isn't eliminating the genre altogether — it's creating unique and passionate stories that viewers will care about. Because that's the issue: people just don't care anymore! Well, despite the fact I've always been more of a Marvel movie gal, DC & Warner Bros.' new Superman 2025 trailer has me absolutely gagged.

It's got so much life and color, where previous adaptations made me feel like they were draining the life out of the comics. And the best part? The movie's led by the hottest guy from Twisters. No, not Glen Powell: David Corenswet! (Whose initials are DC...it's meant to be!)

Here's your first official look at Superman 2025 starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan.

Who is the new Superman in 2025?

The new Superman movie is led by David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. We'll also see Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Sara Sampaio, Pruitt Taylor Vince, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, and Neva Howell.

And honestly, David might be my favorite Superman yet! He has the adorable nerdy quality that I always felt like Henry Cavill was missing, but that doesn't sacrifice any of his power. He also understands Superman inside and out.

"One of the things David said is that Superman wants kids to not be afraid of him," writer-director James Gunn said on the movie set (via Gizmodo). "He’s an alien. He’s got these incredible powers. He shoots beams out of his eyes…He’s incredibly powerful and could be considered scary. He wants people to like him. He wants to be a symbol of hope and positivity. So he dresses like a professional wrestler. He dresses in a way that makes people unafraid of him, that shows that hope and shows that positivity. And that really clicked in for me.”

When is Superman coming out?

Superman is flying into theaters July 11, 2025 ;).

What is the new Superman movie about?

Superman 2025 is going to have a lot of the qualities you love about older Superman movies, with a whole new tone. According to Warner Bros., the film will have "a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind." And that particular mix of qualities and emotion is exactly what Superman is all about.

“There’s humor in it, but it’s trying to create something that is grounded, but also it’s an incredibly fanciful world," James continues. "It’s fantasy, it’s taking from other things like Game of Thrones where it’s this universe where superheroes actually exist. What are they like? There’s a magic there that’s undeniable.”

In the new trailer we get flashes of a bloodied Superman FINALLY reuniting with his dog Krypto, the hustle and bustle of the Daily Planet newsroom, Clark's family farm in Smallville, and some butterfly-inducing kisses between Clark and Lois.

Check out all the other 2025 movies you won't want to miss next year.

Usually there's two sides to every breakup, but clinical psychologist Dr. Lilly Jay (and Ethan Slater's ex-wife) is showing there can be a third. As a refresher, Wicked star Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater have a very public relationship that had quite a rocky beginning. Even now, some people aren't the biggest fans of their love story — and I doubt Lilly's latest personal essay on The Cut will help.

Lilly penned a very personal account of her divorce, divulging pretty intimate details of her experience unexpectedly in the spotlight. The clinical psychologist shared what this experience (and her divorce) taught her, showing she's ready to reclaim her story in the public eye. Here are the key takeaways!

Scroll down for the key takeaways from Lilly Jay's article on her divorce from Ethan Slater!

Jenny Anderson/Getty Images for Nickelodeon

1. Lilly Jay initially felt blindsided by her divorce from Ethan Slater.

No one ever wants to watch the world publicly see their ex with someone else. We don't know how we'd feel if our ex decided to move on with someone as famous as Ariana Grande, but we suspect we'd want to press pause on our social media intake.

Dr. Lilly Jay added, "No one gets married thinking they’ll get divorced, in the same way we don’t board a plane expecting to crash. But I really never thought I would get divorced. Especially not just after giving birth to my first child and especially not in the shadow of my husband’s new relationship with a celebrity [Ariana Grande]," (via The Cut).

2. Lilly's in the acceptance stage of her divorce with Ethan.

It can be embarrassing to watch others give their opinions about your 'failed' romantic relationship, but It's something Dr. Lilly Jay's working through. "In the countless hours I spend rocking my son to sleep, pushing his stroller, marveling at his sweaty little hands grasping a crayon, I work diligently on my private project of accepting the sudden public downfall of my marriage," she wrote. However, she's not looking to bury her head in the sand.

"This, I tell myself, is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to hide."

3. Lilly Jay believes her happy ending is out there.

Some people cling to pessimism after feeling hurt by the person they love while others still look at the glass as half-full. Dr. Jay's choosing the latter which is impressive to us! She further wrote, "Slowly but surely, I have come to believe that in the absence of the life I planned with my high-school sweetheart, a lifetime of sweetness is waiting for me and my child."

That's right rockstar mom; focus on enjoying what else life has to offer!

4. Lilly Jay does miss when her life was private.

Fully understanding Dr. Lilly Jay is a clinical psychologist, there's a certain level of disbelief at how much of the breakdown of her divorce has become public. Against her will, people found out about a delicate matter and it didn't help that the other parties involved were so giddy while she tried to make sense of what was taking place.

She said, "In this season of shock and mourning, over a year after the end of my marriage was made public, I deeply miss the life of invisibility I created for myself as a psychologist specializing in women’s mental health." Yet, she has hope that maybe something good can come from this even though she works at a "Children's Hospital."

"...while I still firmly believe in following my patients’ leads and not presuming to know what parts of my personhood resonate with them, the publicity I did not consent to increasingly feels like both a challenge and an opportunity," Dr. Jay insists.

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Tony Awards Productions

5. But, Lilly's taking a chance by embracing this visibility.

There's not an easy way to accept everything Dr. Lilly Jay has experienced, but we truly think she's brave for expressing her fears, vulnerability, and hope in her The Cut essay. Her final caveats? She's "okay" and wants the world to get to know her on her terms.

"You know how a sponge is most effective at absorbing liquid when it’s already a bit wet? Maybe we can think about my messy not-so-personal life in that way: a dose of my own loss, rage, powerlessness, sadness that helps me hold yours."
