10 Super Fun Summer Activities to Do With Your Toddler

Step away from the iPad. Seriously. Your toddler is having a very public tantrum because you just took it away, and though it’s totally tempting to give it back to her, she really, really doesn’t need it. At least not with these completely creative, super fun activities that encourage her to experience the great outdoors (sans touchscreens). Oh, and they’re not just for kids. You’ll get a kick out of these kid-friendly ideas too.

1. Look up at the starry night sky. The sun has set and your toddler — well, she’s 100 percent not ready for bedtime. If only there were magical twinkle lights that were brightening the night sky. If only these little lights were scattered in seemingly non-random patterns that looked just like connect-the-dots drawings. If only you could just go outside, look up, and see them for free. Oh, wait — you can. Head outside onto the balcony, deck, apartment building rooftop, backyard, or park, and marvel at the starry sky. Tell stories about the constellations or just sit and stare at the stars together.

2. Make the perfect picnic. Okay, so it doesn’t have to be perfect. Pack a basket with a blanket and tons of tasty treats. Keep in mind, picnics aren’t always lunch affairs. Get creative and pack a breakfast or brunch picnic, or make one that just includes your fave desserts.

3. Get artsy. Finger painting is a mess — and that’s putting it mildly. Toss a sheet down on the grass outside, bring out the paints, and let your little artist get wild with creativity. When your tot is done, turn the sprinkler on and get clean the fun way.

4. Build a beach. Hey, we can’t all go to somewhere tropical on vacay — especially with a toddler in tow. But you can create your own staycation seascape right in your backyard. Tarp off a non-grassy area (you don’t want to destroy your lawn), then blow up an inflatable baby pool and fill it with play sand, smooth shells, and beach toys. Set out towels next to your DIY beach, and enjoy a day of beach play. If you’re super-duper daring — and prepared to clean sand from your floorboards for the next six months or so — you can even try this indoors.

5. Touch the sun. Um, not for real. Instead, make a totally touchable, sensory sun that’s toddler-friendly. Mix yellow tempera into shaving cream and spread out a sunshine circle on cardboard or poster board paper. If your tot doesn’t love playing with shaving cream, use gold glitter and glue to craft a sparkly sun instead.

6. Cool off with DIY ice pops. It’s hot. So hot that your toddler is at a 10 on the whiny scale because she can’t take the heat anymore. Hmm. Cool off with your own ice pop treat. Use ice cube trays to make your child’s favorite flavor of popsicles. DIY fruit juice pops or freeze soft, mushy fruits into rainbow-hued summertime treats. Push a popsicle stick through the cubes as they freeze so that your tot has a handle.

7. Make a messy masterpiece. Popsicles don’t have a monopoly on all things frozen. Freeze tempera paint that’s mixed with water, glitter, and watercolors or food coloring (also with water). Pop those cubes out onto plain white paper and push them around. They’ll melt into a messy masterpiece!

8. Book it. Summer isn’t all sunshine and 80-degree days. There are chilly, rainy, gray, blah summer days too. They kind of suck, but they’re also kind of made for snuggling up with your toddler and a good book — a children’s book, that is. Charlotte’s Web, Winnie-the-Pooh, or any other classic tale is always a good pick for a rainy summer day.

9. Take a nature walk. When the sun is shining, it’s time to head outdoors. Go for a walk, hand-in-hand with your little one. Bring along a baggie and collect natural items. This doesn’t mean you snatch the flora and fauna from the area. Pick up fallen leaves, teeny-tiny twigs, or even a few handfuls of dirt!

10. Grow a garden. Your toddler isn’t exactly on a landscape architect level of sophistication yet, but she can help you out in the garden. Dig in the soil, plant a few seeds, water what’s growing, and spend time every day in your garden. You can even grow a few veggies to turn into an end-of-summer dinner.

Here's how to get started to create your own vision board for 2025.

Surface

I love white or black foam core board for creating vision boards. There are LOADS of sizes and options for this, so have fun picking the right one for you.

Adhesive

Glue sticks, Washi tape or pushpins work equally well. I prefer something non-permanent so I can revise my board as the year moves along.

Cutting tools

X-acto knife, ruler, scissors or a paper cutter are all great tools to have on hand.

Images

Magazines, old books, photographs all work well.

Set the vibe

A good playlist to inspire creative vibes, a big work area (floors work great for this!) and light some candles to keep it dreamy and inspiring.

Nosh and nourish

A cheese board, some wine, and good chocolate. All things are better with chocolate, right?

Set an intention. Or many.

I like to make one vision board for my entire world — work, family, love, hobbies, wellness, travel. Others prefer to have a separate vision board for each area of their life, or to only focus on one for the entire year. Let your intuition guide you here and decide the best approach for you. The '1923' Season 1 Ending, Deaths, & Betrayals, Explained

1923 season 2 premieres on February 23, 2025 — just over two years since the first season ended. Which means, if you're like me, you need a refresher on where your favorite characters stand before pressing play on the new episodes. Who were the Duttons in 1923? What happened to Spencer and Alex on 1923? If you've got questions about the season 1 finale, then you came to the right place!

Here's everything you forgot about the 1923 season 1 ending, before 1923 season 2 premieres February 23.

The '1923' Ending, Explained

The 1923 season 1 finale, "Nothing Left To Lose," finds the Duttons, and their friends, scattered across the world — and season 2 will be all about their fight to get back to one another.

After killing Sister Mary, Teonna (Aminah Nieves) is on the run from Father Renaud and Marshall Kent when she's finally reunited with her father Runs His Horse and Pete Plenty Clouds. Literally all I wanted this whole season was for Teonna to reunite with her family and I'm so glad the show gave her something good in the end. It also looks like there could be romance blossoming between her and Pete, but first things first: I need the beginning of season 2 to introduce Teonna to the Duttons (and the cast wants it too!).

Back in town, Jacob (Harrison Ford) finds himself face-to-face with Banner again, who's been released from prison (and who you'll remember was originally arrested for attempted murder. Not cool Banner!!!) But this group has more than Banner to deal with.

Jacob's foreman Zane is attacked by the police while his wife Alice is arrested for their interracial marriage. Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph), pregnant with her and Jack's (Darren Mann) first child, suffers a miscarriage. And when Whitfield shows up to the ranch, he announces that he's paid the property tax the Duttons owed, meaning if they don't pay him the full amount by the end of the year, the land is his. Even though Yellowstone proves the ranch belongs to the Dutton family in the present day, I can't help but feel a little nervous as 1923 keeps playing out.

Meanwhile, Spencer and Alex (Brandon Sklenar and Julia Schlaepfer), on their way back to Montana via ship, are interrupted by Alex's ex-fiancé Arthur. Well, until he challenges Spencer to a duel, attacks Spencer after he loses, and ends up getting thrown overboard. Spencer and Alex are immediately separated (Spencer's to be dropped off at the next port, while Alex is locked in her room, set to return to London). But at the last moment, she finally runs to the deck waving a letter from Cara, and promises Spencer she'll meet him in Bozeman, Montana. And I'll definitely see them there.

Who can forget days spent lounging on our grandparents' sofas while they watched one of their preferred 'old-school' TV shows? If they weren't tuned into The Price Is Right or Wheel of Fortune, they were probably watching I Love Lucy or Gilligan's Island. We may have complained at first...until we realized how kooky and fun these series were. Where else were we going to get slapstick comedy in black and white?

Since we hardly see rerun episodes of these timeless classics anymore, we're celebrating them by remembering why we loved them so much — and letting you know where you can stream them right now!

Here are all the old school TV shows we miss seeing on our screens!

1. I Love Lucy

We thought we'd gladly be housewives if it meant we got to be gorgeous and witty like Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball). Together with her on-screen husband Ricky Ricardo (eventual off-screen ex-husband Desi Arnez), she showed that housewives could find things to do besides maintaining a home.
She and her neighbor/best friend Ethel Mertz would often find themselves in hilarious situations that were reprimanded by their Ricky as well as Ethel's husband, Fred Mertz (William Frawley). Remember the episode Lucy and Ethel tried working at a chocolate factory? We vowed never to think we had what it takes to be on anyone's assembly line after watching it.

2. The Brady Bunch

Stream: Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+

The Brady Bunch took having a stepfamily and turned it on its head with the blended Brady family. Because of their love for each other, Mike and Carol happily took on each other's children as their own: Greg, Marcia, Jan, Peter, Bobby, and Cindy. There was also the housekeeper Alice and the the lovable dog, Tiger!

Each episode seemed to revolve around getting used to living together, sibling rivalry, and more adventures that often ended in valuable lessons. Despite their differences, the Bradys showed that families don't have to be perfect to have a lot of love.

3. The Andy Griffith Show

Andy Griffith was America's favorite sheriff and father because he seemed to know just what to say or do in different situations. Goofily assisted by deputy Barney Fife, he worked to balance solving petty crimes with raising his young son, Opie. Also, we can't forget the warmth and wit Aunt Bee brought to the show!

4. Gilligan's Island

Before Lost, many of us remember watching Gilligan's Island with our grandparents. Our favorite part of theme song is, "The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle with Gilligan, the Skipper too, the millionaire and his wife, the movie star, the professor and Mary Ann. Here on Gilligan's Isle!"
There were so many different personalities that we could always count on something silly to happen.

5. I Dream of Jeannie

This is a hot take, but I Dream of Jeannie was a little cringe even back then. But, we still loved watching Jeannie make an incredible mark in Captain Tony Nelson's life. We're not saying we agreed with her sneaking into his bag or breaking off his initial engagement, but she sure knew how to cause a scene.
Maybe this is why we love watching reality TV drama 👀.

6. Leave It to Beaver

Stream: Amazon Prime Video
Leave It to Beaver felt appropriate for us to watch because it was all about young Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver's mischievous adventurous with his friends and the silly sibling rivalry that took place with his older brother Wallace aka Wally. It spoke to the accuracy of growing up as a kid who has an active imagination and too much time on their hands, no different than when some of us were kids.

7. The Dick Van Dyke Show

Stream: Peacock, Amazon Prime Video
The Dick Van Dyke Show gave us an imagined look at the production of a TV show where Rob Petrie was the star. Somehow he'd try to split time between his career and personal life, often with funny results. Set in New York, it gave us a taste of having a budding creative career and family, not unlike what some of us having today.

8. Bewitched

Aside from Lucy and Ricky, our favorite TV couple used to be Samantha and Darrin from Bewitched. Despite their love for each other, it's obvious they have hiccups to navigate in their marriage. Darrin wants Samantha fit into suburbia while her family could care less about her changing who she is. With a twitch of her nose, Samantha could deploy a spell in no time...even if Darrin didn't always approve.

9. The Munsters

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Peacock
The Munsters is another classic TV show that seemed to poke fun at living life in the suburbs. Unlike The Addams Family, the Munsters did their best to assimilate into their neighborhood as much as possible. Despite the glaring fact their family's comprised of vampires, Frankenstein, and an unseen pet, it was a touching show that placed a huge value on a family's love for each other.

9. The A-Team

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video
Did we really watch old school TV show reruns if they didn't include one episode of The A-Team? It's the prime reason we randomly say, "I pity the fool," in the voice of Mr. T. Aside from that, Faceman, Hannibal, and Murdock helped round out the team with their various expertise from being in the Special Forces. We saw them go on various 'missions' that usually involved fight scenes, explosives, and risky getaways.
It was a departure from some of the other shows we watched, but there was something exciting about seeing them find outlandish ways to escape narrow moments.

11. M*A*S*H

Stream: Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu

Some of us have family members who served in the different branches of the military so watching M*A*S*H helped us make sense of some things that may have happened BTS. Specifically focusing on the 'hospital' portion of the war, M*A*S*H. Though there were some funny moments, but the show also did a great job of showing how scary the war could be.

It was expertly produced in our opinion and continues to be one of the shows we miss watching.

12. The Beverly Hillbillies

Stream: Amazon Prime Video, Peacock
Last, but not least, The Beverly Hillbillies routinely takes up space in our brains. There was something funny yet endearing about seeing Jed, Elly May, Jethro, and Granny pack up their lives in the country to move to the glamorous California. The Clampetts may not have been posh like their neighbors, but they made sure there was never a dull moment when they were on TV.

Patrick & Brittany Mahomes' Sweet Birth Announcement For Baby No. 3 Has Us In Tears

I didn't think it was possible, but Patrick and Brittany Mahomes may have restored my faith in high school sweethearts. It's been 12 years since they first started dating and they're still going strong as a married couple! They've also recently announced the birth of baby no. 3 and I'm excited for them!

March 2012: Patrick & Brittany Mahomes Become High School Sweethearts

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes started dating while they attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, TX which makes them high school sweethearts! During an appearance on the TODAY show, Patrick talked about the beginning of their relationship. "I think at that point we had been dating for a couple months," he said before admitting he was "just a normal teenage kid showing up at the family dinner."

May 2013: Patrick & Brittany Go To Prom

The cute teens were still going strong a year later because they went to prom together! Patrick posted a pic on Instagram the day they were set to go and it perfectly captured the early 2010s (i.e. collage instead of carousel pictures). He wrote, "
Best prom date a guy could ask for," in his caption and I think we can agree they both felt that way.

2013-2014: Patrick & Brittany Enter A Long Distance Relationship

Interestingly enough, Brittany went to college at the University of Texas at Tyler (via University of Texas at Tyler) while Patrick played football at Texas Tech University (via NCAA). It seems they were committed to stay together no matter what!

February 2, 2020: Brittany Supports Patrick After His Super Bowl Win

After Patrick was drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2017 (via Chiefs), the team won the Super Bowl in 2020 (via PEOPLE). They played against the San Francisco 49ers where the final scores were 31-20.

September 2, 2020: Patrick Proposes To Brittany

Later that year, Patrick and Brittany got engaged! PEOPLE managed to grab the cute BTS screenshots of the special moments shared on the couple's individual Instagram stories and I think I've found the perfect ring replacement to send to my fiancé. JK!

September 29, 2020: Patrick & Brittany Announce Their First Pregnancy

The couple surprised everyone with their pregnancy announcement towards the end of September 2020 with Brittany writing, "Mom & Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding❤️," on Instagram. The couple looked cute as Brittany held her sonogram picture and Patrick held her tiny baby bump.

Patrick's pale pink shirt may have been a nod to their baby's gender because their daughter was born a few months later!

February 20, 2021: Patrick & Brittany Welcome Their Baby

Patrick & Brittany's daughter, Sterling Skye Mahomes, was born February 20, 2021. Not only did Brittany share the news of her birth on Instagram, but Patrick also shared the same picture on his page. Though they didn't show baby Sterling's face, they shared she weighed 6 lbs, 11 oz.

March 20, 2021: Patrick & Brittany Share The First Photo Of Sterling

The closest baby reveal fans of Patrick & Brittany received is one where the NFL star held her in an adorable pic the month after Sterling was born. He posted it on Instagram to seemingly celebrate her being alive for a full month and it was a sweet gesture.

May 9, 2021: Brittany Gets Excited For Her First Mother's Day

On Mother's Day in 2021, Brittany expressed her excitement about celebrating the holiday as a new mom. PEOPLE reports she wrote on Instagram, "Dear Sterling, thank you for making me a mommy and being the biggest blessing EVER, Mommy & Daddy love you more than you will ever understand."

June 20, 2021: Brittany Celebrates Patrick's First Father's Day

Brittany also made sure Patrick was celebrated on Father's Day by sharing the cutest carousel of pictures featuring their family on Instagram. "Happy 1st Fathers Day!!! We love you❤️," she wrote. Fans were able to see Sterling's full face in most of the pictures and it's clear that she felt content in her dad's arms.

March 12, 2022: Patrick & Brittany Make It Down The Aisle

Despite their baby detour, Patrick & Brittany got married in March 2022. They got married in Maui, HI and made sure little Sterling had a role as flower girl in their wedding (via PEOPLE). Brittany wasn't shy about posting candid moments from the couple's big day and seemed thrill to have their daughter there! "Having your daughter apart of your wedding, just hits different🥺💕 I love you sister girl💖," she wrote.

March 2022: Patrick & Brittany Enjoyed A Romantic Honeymoon

The couple celebrated a romantic honeymoon in St. Barts (via PEOPLE) and enjoyed time in nature. Brittany concluded they had "a perfect honeymoon" on her Instagram stories which seems like it was true!

May 29, 2022: Patrick & Brittany Announce They're Expecting Again

The couple enjoyed being parents so much they made another surprise pregnancy announcement with baby Sterling's help on May 29, 2022. Patrick wrote, "Round 2! 🤍" on Instagram and was met with congratulatory messages from fans! Sterling even held a sign that read, "Big sister duties coming soon."

June 26, 2022: Patrick & Brittany Reveal Baby No. 2's Gender

The couple were riding the high of preparing for their second baby because they couldn't wait to reveal the gender to PEOPLE. They both wore the cutest blue hoodies that said, "Baby Mahomes, boy or girl" with 'boy' circled in blue. Even Baby Sterling was all smiles in the first photo.

August 31, 2022: Brittany Celebrates Her Birthday With Patrick & Sterling

The couple then celebrated Brittany's 27th birthday which she documented on Instagram. She wore a cute navy blue set that complemented her baby bump while Patrick kept it cool and casual in a Fendi t-shirt, dark blue jeans, and sneakers. "Cheers to 27✨," Brittany wrote.

November 28, 2022: Patrick & Brittany Welcome Their Second Child

Shortly after Thanksgiving, Patrick & Brittany gave birth to their son, "Patrick 'Bronze' Lavon Mahomes III" who weighed "7lbs 8oz," according to the athlete's Instagram caption. Similar to Sterling's birth announcement, the couple didn't show little Patrick's face, just his feet in the cutest onesie I've ever seen. A diamond bracelet or necklace with their son's nickname was also placed right under his little body.

January 11, 2023: Patrick Becomes Co-Owner Of Women's Soccer Team With Brittany

This is one couple who isn't afraid of doing business together because Patrick joined Brittany as the co-owner of Kansas City Currents! He shared the following message on Instagram, "I am thankful for the chance to join @brittanylynne as part of the Kansas City Current's ownership team. She and the Longs have done an incredible job building a world-class organization and I am excited to join another championship-caliber club as it continues to make history."

January 29, 2023: Brittany Supports Patrick's Return To The Super Bowl

Brittany didn't waste time supporting Patrick heading back to the Super Bowl with the Chiefs again and brought along Sterling. She shared the cutest BTS video of Patrick running over to give them both a kiss before heading back on the field. She wrote, "So. Dang. Proud. OF YOUUUU❤️" as her caption.

February 9, 2023: Patrick Praises Brittany In His NFL MVP Speech

PEOPLE got the inside scoop on Patrick's MVP speech and he had nothing but kind words for his wife. "To my wife Brittany, my baby girl Sterling and my son Bronze, this crazy life that we are living means nothing without y'all, keeping me balanced, and making me appreciate every single day. No matter how I feel coming home, y'all bring me joy and make me appreciate the time that I get to spend with y'all. Thank you for always being there for me, through my good times and my bad. When Patrick and the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2023, Brittany made it known she continues to be his biggest supporter. She wasn't shy about heading to Instagram to let the world know just how proud she was of him. PEOPLE reports she screamed, "He did it," without hesitation.

The coupled attend 2023's Met Gala together in classic looks that showed they know how to dress to impress. The only thing that wasn't traditional about Brittany's look were here sky high metallic heels and sequin bardot neckline.

February 11, 2024: Brittany and Patrick celebrate his 2024 Super Bowl win

It shouldn't come as a surprise, but Brittany was front and center when Patrick, along with the Chiefs, won this year's Super Bowl. PEOPLEreports she made sure to carry their kids onto the field to see their dad before the game kicked off, making everyone swoon with admiration.
And when she posted the stylish photo of them holding Patrick's MVP trophy, it made me understand why being a WAG wife may not be such a bad thing.

Brittany brought Sterling and Bronze onto the field before Patrick's fourth Super Bowl game and the couple celebrated together after the quarterback led his team to victory. When Patrick accepted the MVP trophy, his third in total, he expressed his gratitude for Brittany and their kids.

July 12, 2024: Baby No. 3 Is On The Way

Baby No. 3 is officially on the way as the couple have announced their family is getting bigger. Brittany and Patrick look closer than even in this carousel, making me thinking have three kids isn't so bad! "Family of 5 coming soon🥹 blessings on blessings🙏🏻🤍," says Brittany's caption.

October 28, 2024: Patrick & Brittany Step Out At Charity Gala

The couple stepped out on the red carpet for their 15 and Mahomes Foundation Gala in honor of their charity. They couldn't stop smiling in these pictures from the charity's Instagram story — and I can see why! Aside from the fact they're getting ready to welcome their third child, they genuinely looked excited to be celebrating their charity.

October 31, 2024: Patrick & Brittany Celebrate Halloween With Their Kids

Patrick & Brittany Mahomes had the best family Halloween costumes this year! They shared a super cute photo of them posed with their kids and let's just say the Mahomes zoo was open for business. Patrick took on the role as a zookeeper while Brittany donned a mommy kangaroo costume that featured a joey in her pouch. It was a cute nod to their growing family, but we can't forget about Sterling and Bronze! Sterling wore a pretty pink flamingo costume while Bronze looked precious as a little lion.

There's no way the Mahomes can get any cuter!

November 4, 2024 — Brittany Celebrates Patrick's 8th Chiefs Win Of The Season

Brittany reported for WAG duties at the Chiefs vs. Buccaneers game on Monday, November 4, 2024 — and cheered alongside her BFF Taylor Swift throughout the game! This TikTok shows the two celebrating one of Patrick's touchdown passes, but it appears Brittany quickly realizes and tells Taylor that "Patrick's hurt." Luckily, it seems Pat was fine after all, but it can be scary business being a WAG!

Meanwhile, Brittany posted a video later of their daughter, Sterling, sharing her own football commentary. PEOPLEreported that in an Instagram story, Brittany asks Sterling, "What's so rude?" Sterling then responds, "If they take the ball from daddy and score a touchdown by theirselves, that means they're so rude." Clearly the Chiefs love — and loyalty — runs deep in this family! 😂

Injuries aside and interesting football takes aside (I'm looking at you, Sterling!), Brittany posted to Instagram, celebrating Patrick's big win. As the only team left with an undefeated record in the NFL this year, her caption is incredibly appropriate: "8 & ZERO😎" We love to see these two winning together!

January 12, 2025 — Patrick And Brittany Are A Family Of Five Now!

Baby No. 3 is here and she's already filling big shoes with her name; Golden Raye Mahomes (via PEOPLE). Similar to her siblings Sterling and Bronze, Golden received her own special arrival announcement post on Instagram. Patrick and Brittany shared a sweet picture of them holding her cute, tiny feet above a monogrammed wooden sign.

We can't wait to see her precious face and know the couple will share more when they're ready.
