Ones are hard workers known for their perfectionist tendencies. They live in a very black-and-white world, and they’re usually rule followers — so much so that they can be very self-critical (and critical of others) for deviating from expectations or standard practices. Fixated on doing the “right thing,” ones are self-controlled, responsible, and self-reliant, always working toward the goal of feeling good enough and making things right.
Two: The helper

Twos are motivated by loving others and creating a safe space for them, even to their own detriment. Being connected intimately to other people creates a sense of meaning and identity, and they often adapt to their others’ needs — sometimes at their own expense. Giving, helpful, and emotionally in tune, twos are the type of friend or partner who treasure the little details about their loved ones, because it means they have more opportunities for loving them.
Three: The Achiever

Threes are classic achievers: Focused on performance and success (especially success in others’ eyes), they are known for being driven. “Good” isn’t good enough for threes, who tend to relentlessly run toward the “next level” of success, even if it means denying their feelings or needs. As amazing leaders who can easily motivate others, threes are high-energy “doers” at the core, so they may struggle with the idea of just “being.”

Emotional, artistic individualists, fours cycle through highs and lows like it’s their job. Because emotion gives them a deep sense of meaning, fours are often nostalgic or forward-thinking, always longing for what’s unavailable at the moment. They love depth and don’t tolerate superficiality, which probably contributes to their emotional highs and lows — which in turn provide much-valued inspiration and beauty to their lives.
Five: The Investigator

Fives are thinkers and intellects, always theorizing and seeking greater possibilities to define their reality — but pushing themselves to live in the real world is where they find true fullness. Because they are thinkers, they access their feelings through their rich thoughts, and they are often fueled by knowledge, expertise, and mastery. When they are able to step back a bit from their natural tendency to analyze life, fives often find themselves longing to connect to the present moment, but perhaps unsure how.
Six: The Loyalist

Sixes are focused on security, so they may often seem anxious. They value emotional and physical safety, so they are always analyzing their surroundings for potential risks (and solutions for them). This makes sixes frequently suspicious and fearful, but it also means they are loyal, thoughtful, and responsible people.
Seven: The Enthusiast

High-energy, spontaneous, and adventurous, sevens just want to have fun, especially if that means they don’t have to feel or experience hard things. To avoid pain, sevens often escape to pleasure and fun, and they’re always scheming better opportunities and possibilities for more of it. They may not be disciplined or consistent, but sevens are usually very optimistic, enthusiastic, and creative.
Eight: The Challenger

Eights are contrarians by nature. They love to exercise and assert their control over themselves and their surroundings, which can sometimes lead to conflict in relationships. Without their strength, they think, others will take advantage of them. Often eights will try to connect or create intimacy through conflict, but they’re also admirably courageous, straightforward, and very protective of others.
Nine: The Peacemaker

Nines hate conflict, and will do almost anything to keep the peace, even if that means being passive and results in pent-up frustration. Because harmony is a nine’s top value, it’s common for them to forget or put aside their own needs in favor of the “common good.” They can certainly be passive, but nines are also extremely empathetic, caring, and grounded — some of the most even-keeled people you’ll meet.
