24 years is a LONG time to be with anyone… even when you’re not romantically involved. Believe it or not, that’s the amount of time one of our favorite ‘90s boy bands, The Backstreet Boys (did you catch their The Bachelor appearance?), have been a unit, and TBH, it can take its toll.
The guys won’t be splitting up anytime soon though, thanks to a new Las Vegas residency, so, as they explained to ET, they had to find a way to cope with each other when they inevitably get on one another’s nerves.
“It’s like a marriage,” Kevin Richardson told the outlet, as the other guys voiced their agreement. “You gotta work at it.” For them, “working at it” occasionally means getting some professional help, to boot. “We go to counseling,” Nick Carter embellished. “We talk things out.”
It’s a practice Richardson says they’ve been following since the days of their first manager, who told them, “You guys better get into therapy now, ’cause you’re gonna need it later.”
As it turns out, their manager was right. “It’s so funny ’cause as time goes on, the issues kind of add up,” Carter explains, “but it’s like a family. We had to learn how to deal with each other.” (Perhaps he can offer some insight to little bro Aaron, who recently got into a scuffle with his opening act onstage?)
And if all else fails? “We talk it out; we box it out,” Richardson interjects.”Sometimes, you got to.”
