As we all know, Disneyland isn’t only for the kiddos — no, no it soooo is not. It’s also a whimsical and wonderful playground for us adults. While it’s not advertised as such, Disneyland is very much for lovers. Some may claim other locales as the most romantic places or suggest that these are the best weekend trips to take with your new boo, but there are romantic moments to be had all around the Magic Kingdom, from walking hand-in-hand down Main Street to snuggling on the Haunted Mansion. If you have an upcoming date at the happiest most romantic place on earth, then you’ll wanna read this first.
1. Head to one of these romantic spots. Depending on when you go, you could be surrounded by the (unromantic) masses. But if you’re there at the right time, when the weather is perfect, and the crowds aren’t overwhelming, you can have a nice moment or two staring into each other’s eyes or whispering sweet nothings into each other’s ears. A few of our fave spots include: Snow White Grotto (and make a wish while you’re there), Mark Twain Riverboat (which is currently docked but still stunning), New Orleans Square, Tarzan’s Treehouse (but watch out for little ones running around) and Rancho Del Zocalo Restaurante (grab a table by the fountain, you’ll feel like you’re in a rustic cantina).
2. Have your romantic meal here. I’m sure there are a few of you out there who think that there’s nothing sexier than sharing one of those massive turkey legs or a fresh dipped corn dog — you can (and should) do better (and sexier). Make a reservation at the Blue Bayou and ask for a waterfront seat. This dimly lit eatery is a perfect date spot. For a more high end and tres gourmet experience, get a rez for either Carthay Circle (in Disney California Adventure), Napa Rose (in the Grand Californian) or Steakhouse 55 (in the Disneyland Hotel). Each one of those three fine dining establishments will totally fill you with romance and delish food.
3. Get a nightcap at one of these spots. While Disneyland is totally dry (unless you can score an invite to Club 33, the private booze serving club in New Orleans Square), there are other places in the Disneyland Parks Resort where you can get your drink on. Head to Trader Sam’s, get cozy in a corner table and share a UH- Oa! (a rum, passion fruit, guava, pineapple and lime juice concoction served in a ceremonial bowl). Or go to the cocktail lounge at Carthay Circle and get one of their specialty drinks like the Carthay Club Mojito or the Carthay Manhattan.
4. Ride these romantic attractions. You’ll want to be mindful of full-on PDA in a place crawling with kids, but you can lock lips on the sly while on one of the more romantic rides, such as the Haunted Mansion or Peter Pan’s Flight. Both are make-out session-worthy, but be warned, Peter Pan’s Flight always has a long line. While not appropriate for kissing, going on the Jungle Cruise at dusk or at night is a sweet ride.
5. Buy these souvenirs. You’ll want to leave with something to remember the BEST DATE EVER. For something completely custom, sit down for a couple’s portrait from one of the artists in New Orleans Square. If you don’t have about 45 minutes to sit for the masterpiece, then you can swing by Silhouette Studio on Main Street, where a scissor-wielding wiz will cut out a couples silhouette in minutes.
6. Stay in one of these rooms. Have you seen all the incredible themed suites at the Disneyland Hotel? They are bananas! If you aren’t familiar, you’ve gotta check out these amazing Disney hotel rooms. Now, after you’ve picked your jaw up off the floor, go and reserve one of their more romantic suites like the Fairy Tale Suite (the bathroom is INSANE) or the Adventureland Suite (there’s a rain shower grotto).
