Every Body celebrates inclusivity and the representation of human beings in every shape and form.
Plus-size clothing hasn’t always been fashionable, trendy, affordable, or well-made. Although the average American woman now wears between a label size 16 and 18, the plus-size market seems to have been an afterthought by many clothing designers and merchandisers.
Instead of becoming increasingly frustrated by the lack of choice, UK plus-size blogger and journalist Bethany Rutter of Arched Eyebrow decided to do something about it: She designed and created her own capsule collection. The line, which was released last week by online retailer navabi, encompasses a range of pieces fit for a statement-making street-style star. And what’s more, she fought hard to keep the pieces affordable.
“Clothes are not cheap to make. My line is made to order, rather than pre-produced, and it was IMPORTANT to me that the most people possible can get their hands on them,” Rutter explained via her personal Facebook page, sharing that she was especially proud and excited that navabi gave her the agency and support to make this possible.
The Arched Eyebrow x navabi collection itself is bold, structured, and full of bright colors such as blue and green. Each piece is totally transferable from day to night, keeping you chic around the clock while fitting into your everyday wardrobe.
On each clothing tag, purchasers will receive a note from Rutter herself which documents her design process and inspiration for the collection. The tags read, “I designed this range to reflect all the things I wanted but haven’t been able to find in my size.”
She further explains that for this collection, she wanted to design with the assertive woman in mind. She hopes that her vision will resonate with other plus-size women who feel pieces like these are missing in “size fat.”
The nine-piece line (available in sizes US 10 to 26 or UK 14 to 28) is available in a price range of approximately $51.95 to $167.54 (or £40 to £129.99). The collection is full of tailored pieces, such as a green trench coat, and solid brights, such as the bright red cigarette pant, plus feminine touches like a soft pink blouse with ruffled shoulders.
While this may be Rutter’s first collection, she’s certainly got an eye for design. We can’t wait to cheer Bethany on, and we’re crossing our fingers there will be a second capsule collection in the future.
