This Is What Lena Dunham Had to Say to Odell Beckham Jr. Following Her Met Gala Scandal

Girls star Lena Dunham just can’t seem to stop opening mouth and inserting foot!

The actress has most definitely had her fair share of controversial moments (we don’t even want to BEGIN to rehash her book scandal), and her latest snafu over a conversation with Amy Schumer (who handled a sexist heckler like a boss this week), which involved Lena making some rather un-PC remarks about her Met Gala dinnermate Odell Beckham Jr., has her taking to Instagram to issue an apology.

“I owe Odell Beckham Jr. an apology. Despite my bravado, I struggle at industry events (and in life) with the sense that I don’t rep a certain standard of beauty and so when I show up to the Met Ball surrounded by models and swan-like actresses it’s hard not to feel like a sack of flaming garbage. This felt especially intense with a handsome athlete as my dinner companion and a bunch of women I was sure he’d rather be seated with. But I went ahead and projected those insecurities and made totally narcissistic assumptions about what he was thinking, then presented those assumptions as facts. I feel terrible about it. Because after listening to a lot of criticism, I see how unfair it is to ascribe misogynistic thoughts to someone I don’t know AT ALL. Like, we have never met, I have no idea the kind of day he’s having or what his truth is. But most importantly, I would never intentionally contribute to a long and often violent history of the over-sexualization of black male bodies as well as false accusations by white women towards black men. I’m so sorry, particularly to OBJ, who has every right to be on his cell phone. The fact is I don’t know about his state of mind (I don’t know a lot of things) and I shouldn’t have acted like I did. Much love and thanks, Lena.”

Hmmm. While we certainly appreciate the sentiment, we can’t say we’re entirely sure we believe it’s heartfelt. Disregarding the fact that the chosen photo to accompany the apology seems just a tad too flippant for our taste (Hey, flowers die, it’s normal, right?), it was less than 24 hours ago that Lena was posting Tweets (that she has not deleted) that paint a very different picture than her apologetic rant. With inappropriate theories about trolls that only seem to fan the flames, she posted the following series of thoughts.

Um, yikes? Maybe not the best choice of words considering the issue at hand.

Okay, fine, fair enough: She immediately followed it with this, however, suggesting that it was a joke for which she had no remorse.

She then attempted to get some backup from gal pal Amy Schumer (Amy had not so much as a “like” for the comment, briefly posting her own musings on her page with a clip from O Brother Where Art Thou), before once more defending herself and her words regarding another fellow seatmate, Michael B. Jordan.

It’s kinnnnd of like watching a car crash.

Three hours ago, however, she was thanking Twitter user @xlnb for sharing his thoughts with her on the matter as the only apparent person to be able to shine some sort of light on the situation for her.

While we can’t say for sure whether Lena really did have a sudden epiphany regarding her snafu or is merely apologizing to appease the mob of angry Twitter users that have been steady coming for her since the story broke, we’ve got to say: It’s not a great look.

Maybe best to leave it at the apology, mmm, Lena?

And just like that, Bridgerton Season 3 has officially been released, and if you ask me, it's for all of us who have wanted the wallflower to finally get the respect (and love) she deserves. I'm still not over the way Colin and Penelope's story developed, or how she took the first step to show women they're able to be more than what society says. Dare I say Mrs. Bridgerton has joined the ranks of women who are all about empowerment in the series?

It seems like other people feel the same way I do about this epic season — and thatending — so I put together a list of the best Twitter reactions!

Violet Bridgerton is the ultimate mama bear who wants her kids to experience a full love like she did.

But, I have to admit I'm here for seeing Violet Bridgerton begin a new chapter in her life with Lady Danbury's brother (hopefully)!

The scream I screamed!

Eloise Bridgerton was so conflicted because she truly still cared for Penelope underneath her hurt masked as anger. And thankfully Kate was there to swoop in with her wisdom.

The music and silent confirmation from Colin that these two have always been destined for each other sent me over the edge. So many happy tears were shed during this scene!

This tweet was too good to ignore! Cressida was like, "I'm leaving here with something," and it doesn't include being married to an older man who wants to dim her light.

IYKYK 👀

It was nice to see a nod to the friendship Penelope and Lady Danbury had in the Bridgerton books this season.

Kilmartin may be introverted, but his charisma is off the charts when he decides to let it show.

Bridgerton Season 4 better give Benedict his flowers.

This is yet another scene that broke me and stitched me together at the same time.

I don't think we're okay after this season 😭.

No, someone should really check on us.

I thought Bridgerton Season 2 was the best one, but it seems like the series keeps getting better. I guess that's the point.

What was YOUR reaction to Bridgerton season 3? Let us know on X!

Hair loss can be extremely inconvenient and frustrating to deal with, no matter the circumstances. And unfortunately, there are so many different reasons that can contribute to hair loss, often making it tough to nail down how to treat it properly! That's why I talked to Dr. Ross Kopelman, a hair transplant surgeon, who deals with patients that are struggling with hair loss every single day. So let's jump into what could cause your hair loss — and what shampoos will be the best to treat it!

TLDR:

  • Genetics, stress, and diet can cause hair loss.
  • Less DHT production, better follicle strength, and increase circulation can all help with hair growth.
  • Ketoconazole, biotin, saw pawmetto, and caffeine are some key ingredients to look for in hair loss shampoos.

What causes hair loss?

Tim Mossholder

As a hair transplant surgeon who deals with hair loss every day, Dr. Kopelman sees a wide range of factors contributing to this condition. The most common cause he enocunters? Genetics — specifically androgenetic alopecia — which many people know as male or female pattern baldness.

However, Dr. Kopelman says that it's not just about genetics. Stress, nutritional deficiencies, certain medications, and underlying health conditions like thyroid disorders or autoimmune diseases can all be contributing factors here. In Dr. Kopelman's practice, he says that he always take sa comprehensive approach to understand the root cause of hair loss in each individual patient because it’s rarely a one-size-fits-all situation!

What ingredients should you look for in a hair loss shampoo?

Mike Jones

When targeting hair loss, you want to be sure to look for specific ingredients — this will make or break your results. For example, Dr. Kopelman often recommends ketoconazole. It’s an antifungal that not only helps with scalp health but also has properties that reduce DHT production, which is a big player in genetic hair loss. Biotin, or vitamin B7, is another key ingredient he likes because it strengthens the hair shaft and supports overall hair health, which is essential for anyone experiencing thinning.

Outside of those two major recs, Dr. Kopelman also suggests looking for shampoos with saw palmetto, an herbal extract that may help block DHT production! Caffeine is another interesting ingredient, because it’s been shown to stimulate the hair follicles and extend the growth phase of the hair. Lastly, Dr. Kopelman recommends niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3, because it can be beneficial for improving scalp circulation and reducing inflammation, both of which create a healthier environment for hair growth.

The Best Shampoo For Hair Loss

Amazon

Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

Dr. Kopelman trusts this shampoo because it contains ketoconazole, which can help reduce hair loss related to DHT. It also has an active ingredient that's supposed to be way more effective at killing scalp fungus than many other brands you can find over the counter. Plus, for only $15, that's not a bad deal compared to most shampoos that target hair loss!

Amazon

DS Laboratories Revita Shampoo

Dr. Kopelman recommends this shampoo which combines biotin, caffeine, and niacinamide to support hair growth! These are all super vital ingredients to be able to tackle hair loss in an effective way. It may be expensive, but it's worth it for the great ingredients it has.

Amazon

Pura D’or Gold Label Anti-Thinning Shampoo

This a solid choice recommended by Dr. Kopelman — it combines saw palmetto with other natural ingredients to help reduce hair thinning! I like how simple and not too heavy it is on the hair; a perfect daily go-to in order to combat hair loss.

Amazon

Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo

It's no wonder Dr. Kopelman recommends this option from Alpecin — it has over 2,000 reviews on Amazon for being an amazing shampoo for hair loss. It's also quite popular in the beauty community, being well-known for its caffeine content, which stimulates hair follicles and can help reduce hair loss!

Amazon

Nioxin Cleansing Shampoo

This shampoo is also particularly good, because it has peppermint which can be good for stimulating your scalp! I've tried many Nioxin products, and I'd would highly recommend any them. Their shampoos have helped completely tackle my dandruff and dry scalp, so I'm sure this just as good!

Amazon

Maple Holistics Biotin Shampoo

This one has one of the main ingredients that Dr. Kopelman told us to look out for: Biotin! This seriously helps to promote hair growth, as well as tackling any hair loss you may be experiencing in certain areas. Definitely a high contender because of it's 54,000 raving reviews as well!

Amazon

Mielle Organics Rosemary Shampoo

Another top reviewed product, this Mielle shampoo has over 20,000 Amazon reviews! It has rosemary and mint to target and strengthen your hair that may feel brittle or weak, preventing any further loss. Strengthening the hair you do have is a key step to managing hair loss!

Meta, the parent company to Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, recently introduced their latest social media platform to enter the ring, called Threads. The new text-sharing app takes inspiration directly from Instagram, offering a more conversational space via words, rather than photos and videos. If you’ve been feeling skeptical about adopting yet another social media, we have the deets on all things Threads. Read on to vet the platform before you hit ‘download.’

What is Threads?

Threads is a new, text-based social media app built by the teams at Instagram. It’s for sharing text updates and joining public conversations. Sounds just like Twitter, right? 🤪 According to Meta, the mission for Threads is to “take what Instagram does best and expand that to text, creating a positive and creative space to express your ideas.”

How does Threads work?

Threads is connected to Instagram. You can log into the platform using your IG account to begin sharing text posts up to 500 characters long. In these posts, you can include links, photos, *and* videos up to 5 minutes. It’s a scrollable social media app that also allows you to like and repost others’ content. You can choose to follow the same people you follow on Instagram, if they have a Threads account, plus the platform recommends content from new creators you don’t follow.

Is Threads like Twitter?

From what we’ve gathered, Threads is very similar to Twitter. After all, Mark Zuckerberg candidly acknowledged that the platform would be Twitter's competitor before it launched. Both apps follow a newsfeed-type structure and grant users the ability to like and repost content from other users, but Threads posts can reach up to 500 characters, while posts on Twitter are limited to 280.

Is Threads safe to use?

Photo by Kerde Severin / PEXELS

According to Meta, Threads is safe to use. It’s closely connected to Instagram, which Meta has longtime security investments in.

“As with all our products, we’re taking safety seriously, and we’ll enforce Instagram’s Community Guidelines on content and interactions in the app,” Meta’s website says. “Since 2016, we’ve invested more than $16 billion in building up the teams and technologies needed to protect our users, and we remain focused on advancing our industry-leading integrity efforts and investments to protect our community.”

Is Threads popular?

Though it’s still in its infancy, Threads logged 5 million sign-ups *just* in its first four hours of existence, and according to Mark Zuckerberg, the app now hosts more than 100 million users. We’d say it’s pretty popular at the moment!

Is Threads free?

Nordstrom

Treasure And Bond Oversize Buckle Leather Belt

Boho chic is one of the top fall trends this year, and an essential component of that? Western wear. It's not quite a full yeehaw-core, but more of a subtle hint of cowboy mixed with more modern styles. This belt is perfect for that, giving you a sleek black leather paired with silver and teal accents.

Banana Republic Factory

Banana Republic Factory Leather Corset Whipstitch Belt

Another more modern take on western wear, this corset belt is incredibly chic! We've seen a lot of corsetry over the last few years, but this is a simple — and likely less restrictive — take on that. I could see this over a crisp white button down and some dark wide legged jeans to accentuate your style.

Anthropologie

Anthropologie Buckle Belt

Everyone needs an accessory that gives them that pop of color to make their outfit go from "cute" to "CUTE!" This is that accessory for me. It has a unique shape so bonus point there, AND it also comes in this gorgeous, bright red — which is one of our fall trending colors this year!

Fall Bags

Anthropologie

Anthropologie Fiona Beaded Bag

A statement bag is another "must" on our list for fall 2024, and this beaded option from Anthro definitely fits the bill. It's a simple black bag, but the studded, gold heart detailing gives it a little character — which I love to add to my outfits! It's a fun way to inject some personality into your daily 'fits!

Anthropologie

Anthropologie Horsebit Bag

Gucci, who? Anthropologie has entered the convo, and at a much, much cheaper price point. This horse-bit bag is all I can think about with its combination of perfectly vintage, and perfectly trending shape! It's truly the ideal statement piece to up the ante on any outfit! Obsessed!

Free People

Free People Bobbi Slouch Suede Tote

Slouchy bags are back and they're better than ever, TBH. This suede tote from Free People is one of my favorites this season, and it would go perfectly with the charms I talked about earlier! Grab this bag for that effortless je ne sais quoi!

Quince

Quince Italian Leather Trapeze Crossbody

This Polène dupe is honestly everything — and so much cheaper! You can get this TikTok-loved style for about 80% less, and it's genuine Italian leather. Plus, you can never have too many solid brown bags for the fall, if you ask me!

Fall Shoes

J.Crew

J.Crew Logan Mary Janes

These bright red shoes will make the perfect statement to accessorize your outfit with! The pop of red is my favorite way to add flair to my outfits this fall. You simply take an otherwise neutral or simple outfit, add these red shoes, and voila — instantly more fashionable. These satin mary janes will definitely help you to stay on trend.

Mango

Mango Cow Print Shoes

Cow print is my favorite up-and-coming trend this fall, and I know we'll be seeing more and more of it! If this animal print seems to be too much for you, then opt for these shoes that have a more mild cow-print on them. This lets you test the trend without it being too out of your comfort zone!

Target

Target Lonnie Kitten Heel Stretch Ankle Boots

Boots are always a nice touch to a fall 'fit, but these pointed toe kitten heels take it to the next level. Their sleek profile can go with just about any look, giving a more demure and mature touch to your style. Plus, who doesn't love an excuse to get more Target shoes?

Tecovas

Tecovas The Annie Boots

And for the final cherry on top of your fall accessories, these Tecovas boots are everything. Like I said before, western wear is the moment this year, and a classy pair of cowboy boots are a great way to take on the trend. This shade of "sequoia" brown is rich and luxurious, but just subtle enough to go with about anything.
