Milk and cookies, pizza and beer, Channing Tatum and hip hop dancing: some things are good by themselves but just epic together. Such is the case with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Ever since these two graced the same Update desk on SNL their partnership has been earth shattering. Think about it — on their own they’re unstoppable, (like a dry Oreo is still a pretty good cookie), but together they are unstoppable and awesome (AKA an Oreo dunked in milk to the point of almost falling out of your hands).
From books to movies to shows everything this duo touches turns to gold and they have a knack for creating awesome characters (admit it, you’ve called Leslie Knope, Liz Lemon of Kimmy Schmidt your spirit animal at least once) and we are JAZZED to see the trailer for their new movie Sisters. If a reminder on how awesome this dynamic duo is wasn’t enough to convince you here are some other reasons this new movie is going to be so fetch.
Baby Mama was awesome: The last time these soul sisters were on the big screen together was with Baby Mama in 2008. If you haven’t seen this one you are really missing out. It tells the story of Amy, the surrogate mother of Tina Fey’s character. The cast is amazing (Steve Martin kills it as hippie CEO of Tina’s company) and includes the immortal line “I’m sorry I farted in your purse.” Based on this alone, there is no reason to believe that any Fey/Poehler movie could be anything less than majorly on point.
Ike Barinholtz is a cutie: Recognize Amy’s love interest? He’s Morgan from The Mindy Project. He has some of the best lines in that show and looks like he’ll be super cute in this movie. We’re big advocates of looking at cute guys. You should be too. (Photo via Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty)
Quotes on quotes on quotes: “One of the apples is falling out of the bag,” “I love the story the fringe tells,” “underteat”!!! We can already feel the hours we’ll spend quoting this movie.
Switching the straight man: In comedy the less whacky character in a duo is called “the straight man.” In Baby Mama Tina is the straight man, almost reprising her Liz Lemon role, but in this movie she seems to be the crazy one. This switching can only yield hilarious results and it will be really fun to see Tina let her silly flag fly. (Photo via Handout/Getty)
We’ve all been there: The plot seems to center around two sisters who are upset that their parents are selling their childhood home in the wake of their own personal crossroads and growing pains. We’ve all felt that feeling, the one where the one thing you felt you could count on gets removed. This movie may be raunchy and funny but it also will probably come from a truly real place. Midnight screening, anyone?
