The 69th annual Tony Awards are here, and theater lovers, fashion lovers and awards show lovers are all in for a treat. We’ve already covered the definitive awards shows of 2015 in fashion, music and film, and now we’re ready for the stage. The show is hosted this year by two Broadway veterans, Alan Cumming (most recently in Cabaret) and Kristin Chenoweth (nominated tonight for Best Leading Actress in On the Twentieth Century). By the way, most of the actors and actresses had to do matinee performances right before walking the carpet. We’re in awe. Who will win big at Radio City Music Hall? The world will find out soon enough; until then, let’s look at these Broadway beauties.
1. Ruth Wilson: Nominated for her role in Constellations, Ruth brings summer directly to the red carpet with her hot pink gown. We love the clean lines and simplicity of the Ralph Lauren dress. And those earrings are major! (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
2. Annaleigh Ashford: The star of You Can’t Take It With You is rumored to be the front-runner for Best Performance for a Leading Actress in a Play is walking the Red Carpet in a crisp, summer-green Zac Posen number that she applauded for having pockets. We feel ya, girl. Pockets do make the world better… as do awards for your outstanding performances (wink, wink)! (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
3. Kendall Jenner: Now trending at the Tonys — models. We are so happy they are supporting theater, and Kendall Jenner looks stunning in this apricot mini dress by Calvin Klein. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
4. Misty Copeland: The darling of the American Ballet Theater is supporting all the dancers of Broadway. We’re happy to see her walking the red carpet — and showing off her incredible, athletic bod in a simple silhouette, featuring lots of textures. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
5. Alan Cumming and Kristin Chenoweth: We can’t wait to see what these two theater stalwarts come up with, especially for the opening number. Expect comedy and some serious singing chops. Alan Cumming is known for his quirky fashion, and he doesn’t disappoint with this shorts-suit. Meanwhile, Kristin looks like an award herself in Zac Posen. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
6. Elisabeth Moss: Resplendent isn’t a word we use often, but there’s kind of no other way to describe this Oscar de la Renta gown on the Chronicles of Heidi nominee. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
7. Debra Messing: Matchy-matchy never looked so good. Debra Messing, who is presenting tonight, goes 50 shades of purple in her makeup, accessories and dress, and we’re into it. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
8. Ashley Tisdale: We hope she’s here to cheer on her bestie, Vanessa Hudgens, as she performs tonight with her cast from the new musical Gigi. Her pantsuit manages to be both sexy and sophisticated. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
9. Hilary Rhoda: We’re already obsessed with her brows, her style and her soon-to-be hubby Sean Avery, and now that we know she supports Broadway, we love her even more. She’s combining two of the biggest red carpet trends for the night here — cutouts and red. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
10. Taylor Schilling: Who’s excited for OITNBto come back later this month?! We love seeing Taylor all glammed up outside of her TV character. She’s been leaning toward streamlined and clean-lined looks lately, and we’re so into it, especially in this Michael Kors number. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
11. Carey Mulligan: Simple, clean-lined and pretty works on the actress up for Best Performance in a Leading Role in a Play for Skylight, although we would have loved to see a bold pair of earrings to really make the look from Balenciaga pop. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
12. Matthew Morrison: Navy tuxedos were all over the carpet, and we think that Mr. Schue really pulls this off! If men want to continue to wear navy tuxedos, we’re all for it. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
13. Vanessa Hudgens: A breath of fresh summer air is here thanks to Vanessa Hudgens’s gown. It’s just so poppy (hehe), lovely, young and fresh — just what a young actress should be wearing. We can’t wait to see her perform with her Gigi cast — and we can’t wait to see her take on Grease next! (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
14. Bee Shaffer and Anna Wintour: Anna Wintour had a hand in helping these Broadway stars and their friends step it up in the fashion department. We are all for the “Wintour Effect,” as these stage stars have never looked better. Anna and her daughter Bee look impeccable as always. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
15. Rose Byrne: Take note. This is how you achieve bombshell status — a red A-line Delpozo with a plunging neckline and ruffled sleeves.Presenter Rose Byrne really brought it. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
16. Amanda Seyfried: Stepping away from her usual fresh face and classic, old-Hollywood hair, this Broadway newb is working it as one of our favorite golden-girl presenters of the night in this off-the-shoulder, gold and black Oscar de la Renta frock. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
17. Judith Light: She’s a two-time Tony winner, but you might best remember her from Who’s the Boss?. This year she’s a presenter for two awards, including one that awards drama teachers (yeah!). She is a total fashion boss in this trendy yet age-appropriate jumpsuit. Kudos for taking such fashion risks, Judith! (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
18. James Monroe Iglehart: He’s having quite the week, first with this epic airport sing-off and now attending the Tonys. While Aladdin isn’t nominated this year for a Tony, it did take home a Grammy earlier this year for Best Musical Theater Album. We love James’ confidence in this printed tuxedo jacket. 19. Helen Mirren: We already bow down to Helen Mirren for her incredible achievements in film, and she’s up for another Tony this year for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for The Audience. She’s favored to win, and what a vision she’ll be on stage in this Badgley Mischka gown. (photo via Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty)
