Proof That Warm Neutrals Will Be The Biggest Home Trend Of 2023

warm neutral rooms

Natural, organic, sculptural decor has been en vogue for a few years thanks to inspiring designers like Sarah Sherman Samuel and Leanne Ford. And it’s not going away. In fact, it’s just warming up. “The use of warmer wood tones and an earthy color palette in furniture and fabric will continue to rise going into 2023,” says Krisha Salud, director of interiors at NYC-based StudioLAB.

Rooms that bring in warm neutral paint colors and furniture are not only on trend but tend to be more inviting, cozier. While everyone loves a modern kitchen, for example, “the cold, impersonal feeling often deters homeowners from taking the plunge,” says Bob Bakes with Paul Kropp, co-founders, Bakes & Kropp. “In response, we’ve refined what we are dubbing Soft Modern kitchen design – an approach that layers warm elements to soften that feeling.”

"Soft blush pinks and corals will be big in 2023 as designers move away from all white and grey decor," says Jerad Gardemal, principal designer + owner at Baton Rouge-based JF Gardemal Designs.

In fact, a recent trend report by Houzz found that homeowners are asking for a warm and soft style that’s restful and relaxing. Think light woods, muted tile, subdued patterns and warm bronze and brass finishes. Want to get the look with a gradual upgrade? Check out these Warm Neutral paint color and decor shots that we’re Pinning, saving, and bookmarking this season.

"Warm neutrals are a great way to give spaces a comfortable sunny feeling. I always look for ways to subtly contrast the warmth, says Colorado-based designer Amy Pigliacampo. You can do this with texture, cooler wood tones like walnut, succulents or small pops of blue, gray, lavender and soft green.

"I also like to include modern white elements to give structure and add a little juxtaposition to bohemian elements like cane, rattan and high pile rugs," adds Pigliacampo.

Dwell on Instagram: "When Annie and Dylan, a hairstylist and landscape designer, decided they needed more space for guests and hobbies, they faced a familiar problem: where to put it? Their current spaces were full to the brim with Dylan’s design firm and the couple’s living spaces. They also didn’t want to build out, since they’d fallen in love with the lot’s mature landscaping and outdoor living areas. Fortunately, @nicoleblair.architect had a vision, proposing a new unit constructed off-site and craned into place on top of the existing roofline. While Austin has strict construction limitations when it comes to building vertically, The Perch—as it’s been aptly named—would fit perfectly within the zoning policies. The trapezoidal addition now holds a split-level apartment with a living area and kitchen on the lower level, along with two bedrooms and a bathroom a few steps above. With its carefully placed views, it offers both the thrill and serenity of a treehouse. And as cities like Austin look for ways to add density to existing neighborhoods, The Perch offers a playful way to look at how and where we build. Dwell on Instagram: "As dawn breaks, ribbons of orange light streak across white cabinetry in the apartment of architects @ellegerdemann and Kyle Coburn. Part laser show, part art installation, the display results from morning rays hitting a distorted sheet of thin steel in the living room, then bouncing off a polished steel coffee table and projecting onto the wall behind it. The architects, founding partners of firm @co_g.co, first tested the setup with an emergency blanket. "There were funky reflections scattered everywhere, so we bought the steel to see what it would do,” says Elle. “Experimentation is important to us. We are constantly tinkering.” For the couple, the giant windows and aforementioned natural light really sealed the deal on the new apartment—but its noteworthy past didn’t hurt. The apartment sits within a former General Electric light bulb factory that was built back in 1910 and stretches nearly three city blocks. As a creative couple, the duo needed a space to try out ideas. “The mammoth polycarbonate wall was the big idea that we built the unit around,” says Kyle. The wall bisects the loft, separating the living space from the bedroom and kitchen. Its translucent panels allow light to pass into those rooms while offering privacy from the central space. A thoughtfully placed interior window at the top of the bedroom also allows light to funnel into the sliver of a nursery behind it. Throughout their home, the couple employ mundane construction materials in a way that elevates them. “We’re using very basic materials but stretching them past their typical use,” Elle explains. “Or we’re supersizing them so they become exquisite or unusual.” Hit the link in bio for the full tour. – Photos by @_tonyluong Story by @stylecarrot #moderndesign #modernarchitecture #interiordesign #interiorarchitecture #loft #loftliving #loftrenovation #apartmentrenovation #apartment #modernapartment #minimalistdesign #minimalistapartment #bostonapartment #cozyhome #modernhome #interiorstyling #renovationinspiration #interiorinspiration #architecturephotography #architecture #architectureinspiration #nursery #smallspaces #homeoffice #modernkitchen"

Dwell on Instagram: "In the quaint fishing town of Olhão in Portugal’s southern region of Algarve, Portuguese architecture firm @atelierrua and Belgium-based interior design firm @studio.stories teamed up for a thoughtful reno of a former fish warehouse. Now a guesthouse available through boutique hospitality brand @the_addresses, the building’s updated design is anchored in a philosophy that stays true to the region’s heritage and overall atmosphere—“The Algarve’s good weather and traditional lifestyle were relevant to the design,” says Francisco Freitas, Atelier Rua’s principal architect. While preserving original elements and leaning heavily on the region’s material palette—like original archways, terracotta floors, and bright white walls—the interiors are more focused on the experience of “following the sun,” says Katrien de Jonghe (@katriendj), creative director of the Belgian firm. “We tried to create different corners that lend themselves to hanging out at different times of the day.” Though there is much to see around town, from horseback riding to surf lessons, guests have a pretty spectacular vista of the Rio Formosa, a 40-mile-long coastal lagoon, from the home’s rooftop that’s just one spiral staircase away. 𝘑𝘌𝘕𝘕𝘐𝘍𝘌𝘙 | HOME + DIY on Instagram: "✨ TIP TUESDAY: let’s talk about how to create cozy inviting spaces! ✨ . WARM TONES: cognac, terra-cotta, sand, mustard and warm wood tones add warmth and make any space cozier. If you are looking for a cozy warm vibe consider adding a little bit of those hues to your space. . PAINT: consider painting your wall with a neutral beige/sand color as opposed to pure white to warm up the space. Some of my favorite beige paint colors are: -white mocha by @behrpaint -Bone & Sandcastle by @dunnedwards - Monroe Bisque & palm desert tan by @benjaminmoore -Antique white by @sherwinwilliams TEXTURES- pampas, pillows, linen sheets, baskets and plants will help you make your room feel cozier and visually interesting! Consider adding some of those to cozy up your space. . WALL DECOR- decorate your walls! Bare walls make the space feel colder and sterile. Add some wall art, plant hangers and/or shelves to fill up the space and make it look livable. I hope you find these tips helpful! Have a beautiful Tuesday everyone! When I moved into my '70s-era fixer, the first thing I changed were the walls. Tacky wallpaper, outdated slate around the fireplace, textured walls and popcorn ceilings all had to go. I had it painted all white to transform the place from a cigarette-scented eyesore to a clean, modern canvas. Five years later, going into 2025, I'm craving COLOR and pattern and more texture. Enter this swoon-worthy LA home designed by husband and wife duo Karan and Sapna Aggarwal of L.A. design firm Bungalowe.

"We wanted the wall treatments to add both texture and personality to each room," says Karan.

Wallpaper

Shade Degges

The Eagle Rock home in Los Angeles was beautifully remodeled with European design in mind, taking cues from their travels to France and England. Think romantic wallpapers from House of Hackney, warm paint hues in browns and blush but also a rich earthy greens, classic bead board and moulding, each offering so much inspiration for 2025 walls.

Shade Degges

Every passageway offers a unique pairing of color and pattern and texture. In this foyer, the moody color palette complements the softer shades found in the kitchen and baths. The Harlequin black and white checkered marble floors are classic and a bit of a showstopper throughout the home.

Shade Degges

This House of Hackney London Rose wallpaper is so gorgeous and romantic! Classic bead board and unlacquered brass fixtures accentuate the cozy, classic Euro aesthetic.

Shade Degges

Here, we transition from dark and moody tones to light and airy hues. The London Rose wallpaper continues into the kitchen with taupe cabinets, marble countertops, raw copper metals, and handmade Moroccan plumbing fixtures.

"The goal was to create spaces that felt both luxurious and lived-in, from the raw copper range hood and thin brick floors to the custom trim and dramatic lighting choices," says Karan.

Paint

Shade Degges

The warm clay-colored paint in the butler's pantry provides a little breathing room from the abundance of pattern. "These treatments, along with limestone accents and custom trim work, were intended to add depth and warmth to the home, creating a visual experience that feels cohesive yet unique in every room," says Sapna.

Shade Degges

The clé thin brick tile on the flooring is an unexpected choice, but I'm in love. The rustic minimalism with the earthy green cabinetry inspires Old-World elegance while still feeling fresh and modern.

Stone

Shade Degges

The rustic stone wall, used in this smaller kitchen, bedrooms, and laundry room, is giving Nancy Meyers vibes a la The Holiday English cottage. "We also drew inspiration from the majestic oak trees on the property, incorporating natural, earthy tones that reflect the outdoors throughout the house," says Karan.

Shade Degges

The bedroom instantly feels cozy with this natural stone wall texture.

Shade Degges

I love a laundry room that gets a little design love. Incorporating the same stone throughout the space creates a sense of cohesion and harmony within the home.

Shade Degges

What a lovely spot for a cozy warm bath. The stone wall adds to the charm of the rustic retreat, while the sleek modern tub and luxe marble floors add a touch of sophistication and elegance to the space.

Shade Degges

Here's more stone in the master bedroom paired with neutral linens, furniture and rug. Built-in bookshelves are functional and aesthetic, a perfect spot for more stoneware.

Molding

Shade Degges

The molding in the lounge, painted in the same earthy green as the dining room, subtly ties the spaces together while adding a touch of timeless elegance.

Shade Degges

The blush-painted molding in the kids' room is a sophisticated detail. While painting the walls alone can make an impact, the addition of molding brings extra dimension, elevating the entire space.

Shade Degges

Adore this sweet moment in the kid's room.

Shade Degges

Natural materials like leather and sheepskin strike the perfect balance, creating a cozy yet elegant space even in a kid's room!

Tile

Shade Degges

The perfectly imperfect look of this Zia Zellige Racing Green tile complements the natural, rustic yet refined elegance of the home.

Shade Degges

Here is the tile again in Pure White. Love the unlaquered brass fixtures paired with the natural imperfections of this handmade tile.

Shade Degges

This Desert colored tile is the perfect pairing for the marble bath. "Our wish list focused on creating a home that seamlessly blends modern functionality with timeless European-Craftsman charm," says Karan. "We wanted to design spaces that not only provided a sense of comfort and coziness but also incorporated luxurious, high-quality materials and thoughtful, design-forward details." Mission accomplished.

Dunkin’s winter menu for 2025 is lookin’ pretty sweet. Seriously – 3 out of 5 new drinks on the menu are inspired by cake. Since there’s little I love more than a good, decadent dessert (other than coffee, of course), I’m especially excited about this new lineup!

The Dunkin’ winter menu also has one sweet snack and an iced espresso drink that are both hauntingly similar to what Starbucks has to offer. Is the competition heating up, or is it just me?

The Dunkin’ winter menu dropped on December 31, just ahead of the new year. Dunkin's holiday menu dropped on November 1.

Let’s officially get into it. Here’s everything on the Dunkin’ menu this December to start 2025 off just right!

Drinks On The Dunkin' Winter Menu

@snackolator

NEW! Lava Cake Signature Latte

Lava Cake Swirl flavoring, whipped cream, mocha drizzle, and hot chocolate powder. Now that's a mouthful! That's exactly how this new drink is built – with tons and tons of chocolate. If you've got a strong sweet tooth, this one's for you.

@snackolator

NEW! Lava Cake Coffee

Dunkin' is also featuring the new Lava Cake Swirl flavoring in this creamy coffee. It'll be available to order hot or iced!

@snackolator

Brown Sugar Shakin' Espresso

Um, Starbucks dupe, anyone?! Dunkin's version of the famed Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso looks like it follows a very similar recipe to the Starbies way: espresso (shaken until frothy), brown sugar syrup, and oat milk. I can't wait to try this one and see how it measures up to my routine Starbucks order. It even got a co-sign from Sabrina Carpenter.

Dunkin'

Brown Sugar Oat Iced Matcha Latte

Dunkin' will offer two new in-app exclusive drinks this season, the first being the Brown Sugar Oat Iced Matcha Latte. It's like your average iced matcha latte, amped up with some brown sugar syrup and oat milk. Yum.

@snackolator

Raspberry Lava Cake Coffee

The second in-app exclusive drink on theDunkin' winter menu is the Raspberry Lava Cake Coffee, which features a dose of Lava Cake Swirl alongside a raspberry flavor shot and cream. You'll be able to order this one hot or iced.

Food On The Dunkin' Winter Menu

@snackolator

NEW! Whoopie Pie Specialty Donut

Now, onto the good stuff. The Whoopie Pie Specialty Donut features a halved glazed chocolate cake donut that's filled with vanilla whipped buttercreme icing and topped with a cute lil' buttercreme rosette.

Dunkin'

Iced Lemon Loaf Cake

Okay, yet another Starbucks similarity! This zesty-sweet snack returns on December 31. Dunkin's Iced Lemon Loaf Cake is moist as can be, and is topped with a thick layer of lemon icing.

More Dunkin' Menu Items To Come In 2025

Dunkin'

Dunkin' Valentine's Donuts

Speculation around the Dunkin' winter menu for 2025 also dropped some hints about the chain's Valentine's Day offerings.

According to the buzz, the Brownie Batter (pictured above) and Cupid's Choice donuts will return on January 29. What's even more exciting is that a new iteration of Dunkin's Munchkins will be available, too!

The new Valentine's Munchkins will reportedly be made from glazed chocolate donut holes coated in Valentine's-esque sprinkles. I'm craving them already!

Powder rooms, or half baths, are truly the most exciting spaces to design in a home. You can take bold risks without blowing your budget and it’s the perfect place to personalize with unexpected touches, like swoon-worthy wallpaper or statement tile that reflect your unique style. To inspire your next 2025 makeover, we’ve rounded up our favorite half bath decor ideas from top interior designers, proving that even the smallest spaces can make a big impact.

Trend alert: 15 half bath decor ideas every designer is loving in 2025:

Michael P.H. Clifford

Idea #1: Scalloped Backsplash

This half bath designed by Kirsten Blazek of a1000xbetter is an absolute stunner. The home hails from the roaring '20s and elements like unlacquered brass hardware, natural stone countertops, and a B&W silent film print make subtle calls to that era. The scalloped backsplash is a perfect detail for this character-filled powder room. Check out the full gorgeous cottage remodel by Blazek.

Gavin Cater

Idea #2: Marble Sink

Designers Amanda Leigh and Taylor Hahn of celebrity-loved design firm House of Rolison are never afraid to go bold with marble. The design duo were inspired by the home’s French-country architecture and this bath exudes the timeless luxury found throughout the home. Get the look with this Etsy Wall Mount Calacatta Viola Marble Sink Basin.

Artistic Tile

Idea #3: Statement Mirror

Choosing a decorative or oversized mirror can make the space feel larger and add visual interest. This Art Deco bath from Artistic Tile pairs beautiful pink tile with a dramatic gold mirror, both complementing the rainbow onyx sink.

Madeline Harper

Idea #4: Bold Wallpaper

There's nothing like a statement wallpaper and the half bath is an excellent opportunity to try something fresh and colorful. Austin architect Alice Arterberry of Arterberry Cooke designed this charming bathroom with Cole & Son Frutto Proibito Wallpaper in Hyacinth & Orange. Here are some wallpaper ideas to try!

Shade Degges

Idea #5: Classic Beadboard

Karan and Sapna Aggarwal of L.A. design firm Bungalowe designed this European-inspired half bath by pairing a classic beadboard with House of Hackney London Rose wallpaper. So romantic!

Cari Field

Idea #6: Pattern Blending

James and Christine of Stewart-Schafer thoughtfully renovated their clients' 200-year-old home in Connecticut, merging Persian flair with timeless classic beauty. This stunning floral B&W wallpaper pairs perfectly with the dramatic B&W marble sink. Keep the elements in the same color territory to make the patterns work seamlessly.

Gavin Cater

Idea #7: Textured Walls

Experiment with natural stone or wood accents for warmth and create textured walls for contrast and a unique touch. Bungalowe's Karan and Sapna paired this travertine sink with plastered walls that organically feature the natural stone, creating an earthy, modern palette that compliments the home’s architectural roots.

Courtesy of Hollis Jordyn Design

Idea #8: Colorful Sink

Who says sinks have to be white? Design principals Hollis LaPlante and Jordyn Grohl of Hollis Jordyn Design featured a teal sink, retro brass light from Etsy, and Benjamin Moore Sandblast paint to elevate this 1960s bath. "We wanted to create a moody powder room and thought the mauve paint tone really accentuated the teal and brass in a romantic way," says Grohl.

Gavin Cater

Idea #9: Floating Sink

Because powder rooms are meant generally for guests, there's little need to store all your bathroom essentials. Floating sinks help maximize space. In the same home as above, Karan and Sapna of Bungalowe use a travertine sink and quiet luxury aesthetic to create a calm, soothing space for a bathroom break.

Nils Timm

Idea #10: Dark and Moody

Don't be afraid to go dark in a small bathroom. Drama is good when it comes to half baths where you want to make an impact. Amanda and Taylor of House of Rolison created a tonal palette that combines luxury with functionality in this elevated design.

Gavin Cater

Idea #11: Homey Vibes

Add a small vase with fresh flowers, a scented candle, and/or an elegant soap dish to personalize the space. Here's another nature-inspired gem by House of Rolison.

Gavin Cater

Idea #12: Unique Lighting

Add a statement light, like a small chandelier or pendant, to elevate the space, and consider fixtures with dimmable options for versatility. Love this unique space by House of Rolison.

Gavin Cater

Idea #13: Maximized Wall Space

Because you don't get a lot of floor space in a half bath, use walls to your advantage. Even the toilet doesn't touch the floors in this bathroom inspired by Karan and Sapna's trip to Oaxaca, Mexico.

Cari Field

Idea #14: Tile Wall

Tile is a practical option for bathrooms and with a small space, you can go big here. Hollis and Jordyn infused this space with a pop of blue tile that travels from floor to ceiling, paired with contrasting B&W tile floors, creating an eclectic and colorful space. Pro tip: Pay attention to floors too! Heated floors can also be a luxurious touch.

Nils Timm

Idea #15: Monochrome

This green on green bath by House of Rolison is a showstopper. Find a jewel-toned marble and color-match it to the wall paint for a luxurious vibe that will wow your guests.

Chef Genevieve LaMonaca

Foolproof Beef Wellingtonby Chef Genevieve LaMonaca

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs beef Tenderloin center cut canon (ask your butcher)
  • 1-2 T Avocado Oil for searing
  • 8oz shallots, minced
  • 1 lb Mushrooms, cremini or button, minced
  • 6 T butter
  • 1 t thyme leaves
  • 1 T minced Parsley
  • Salt and Pepper TT
  • Pastry Dough x 2:
  • Bread Flour 1 1/2 cups plus 1 T
  • Butter 3/4 cup (6oz) cubed
  • Salt 1/2 t
  • Ice cold water 1/4 cup

Directions:

  • Slice off a 2 lb center cut canon from a beef tenderloin or ask your butcher.
  • Pat dry, season heavily with salt and pepper. sear on all sides using a fat with a high smoke point (Avocado oil)
  • Tip: Precooking your beef is the secret to preventing a soggy bottom crust and most of the moisture is removed prior. This will also ensure that your tenderloin is cooked perfect every time.
  • Roast in a 150 oven to an internal temp of 115. Chill
  • TIP: I like to measure my canon lengthwise side to side then the circumference by using butchers twine. This will help me determine the size I need to make my prosciutto bed and pastry sheet.
  • Make your mushroom duxelles. Saute half a pound of minced shallots in 6 T butter then add 1 lb finely chopped mushrooms and thyme, saute, deglaze with sherry wine as necessary, cook until pan is dry, add minced parsley, season and set aside.
  • Add flour and butter to a counter top mixer and using a paddle, combine on lowest speed until the butter is turned into crumbs and all the flour is Incorporated. Pour in your ice water and mix until combined. Place dough onto the counter and form into a ball then flatten/ wrap with plastic wrap and chill.
