If you've finished binging Wednesday and you've already seen Scream VI multiple times, you were probably itching for a new Jenna Ortega project to watch. Well, no matter how many times you've already seen Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, you don't have to wait much longer to stream it at home! Not only does the movie return to the wacky world of the 1988 film, but we also get to see Ortega as the daughter of Winona Ryder's Lydia, which might just be our favorite casting decision of the year. Here's everything we know about the fall movie.

Keep reading for the latest news on Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and when you can stream it.

Where will Beetlejuice 2 stream?

Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty Images

Beetlejuice 2 isn't streaming quite yet — but we don't have to wait long. The movie will hit Max on December 6, making it the perfect weekend watch!

How Long Is Beetlejuice 2?

Warner Bros. Pictures

Beetlejuice 2 is 1 hour and 44 minutes long. The original Beetlejuice is 1 hour and 32 minutes.

What has Winona Ryder said about returning for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

At the Venice Film Festival press conference for the movie, Winona Ryder opened up about coming back to play Lydia once again. “It was one of the more special experiences of my life," she says (via The Hollywood Reporter). "My love and trust for Tim [Burton] runs so deep and there was a sense of a certain playfulness and readiness to try things...You feel so safe in nonsense, but you also feel just completely free.”

Justin Theroux adds that joining the franchise felt like being “handed the keys to Willy Wonka’s house or something."

Ryder also says the best part of the movie was working with Michael Keaton again, and jokes, "One of my favorite parts was getting to stare into your eyes again."

What is Beetlejuice 2 about?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

We finally have some plot details thanks to The Hollywood Reporter! Winona Ryder's Lydia brings her daughter Astrid back to Winter River, and when Astrid finds the town scale model, she accidentally opens a portal to the afterlife. Now, both worlds are being thrown into chaos! Watch the official Beetlejuice 2 trailer here.

We're excited for Beetlejuice 2 to be another classic Tim Burton movie for one reason — he wanted to go "back to the basics." "I really enjoyed it," Tim Burton told The Independent. "I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”

Movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and (of course) the first Beetlejuice are cemented in pop culture history because of how stripped back they are. Considering Beetlejuice 2 features a lot of the same actors as the first movie, we're expecting it to continue the story of family and coming of age.

Watch The New 'Beetlejuice 2' Trailer

Warner Bros. Entertainment

The new Beetlejuice 2 trailer is giving Wednesday thanks to Astrid's boarding school, and all the gothic, spooky sets. And it looks like we're getting a throwback to the OG movie thanks to dance scene between Jenna Ortega and Catherine O'Hara! We also get a new look at Winona Ryder as Lydia and Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice, and it looks like their partnership is going to be more complicated than ever thanks to Willem Dafoe's Jackson.

Who is Jenna Ortega in Beetlejuice 2?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

Jenna Ortega stars as the daughter of Winona Ryder's Lydia, and this "It" girl does a great job leading the film. In an interview with Vanity Fair, she gives a glimpse inside Astrid's character. "She’s weird, but in a different way and not in the way you’d assume," she says. "The relationship between Lydia and Astrid, [is] really strange because it’s a lot of catching up and putting the pieces together of what’s gone on in Lydia’s life since, which is nice, I think, for anybody who loves the character and is excited to see her again."

While Astrid isn't Lydia's polar opposite, Jenna does reveal we'll see them butt heads. "I wouldn’t say [Astrid's] bright and sunny at all," she continues. "She doesn’t go to the opposite end of the spectrum, but any kid who becomes a teenager wants to be removed from their parents. I think they instantly just fight whatever it is that their parent loves."

This leaked first look features Ryder and Ortega filming in Hertfordshire, England. I'm so glad Winona Ryder still has her iconic hairstyle from the original film, and that even though Ortega's dress is white instead of red or black, you can see that there is some peachy pink tulle in her dress. Even if her character seems different from Lydia, the two might just be more similar than we expect.

Who else is in the Beetlejuice 2 cast?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

In addition to Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder, the movie stars Michael Keaton, Willem Dafoe, and Justin Theroux. Tim Burton directs, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg produce, and Mike Alfred Gough and Miles Millar wrote the script.

When is the Beetlejuice 2 release date?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

The Warner Bros. movie released on September 6, 2024. When the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes began, the movie had less than two days of filming left. “I feel grateful we got what we got. Literally, it was a day and a half,” Tim Burton told The Independentat the time. “We know what we have to do. It is 99 per cent done.”

The First Look At "Beetlejuice 2"

Warner Bros. Entertainment

The first look at Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is truly wonderful! Winona's Lydia is just as emo as she's always been (thank goodness), and I love to see the contrast between Lydia and Jenna Ortega's Astrid. Even though Astrid has similar tones and edge thanks to the dark overcoat and boots, I really like that we can see colorful stripes peeking out from underneath her coat.

The first teaser was giving small town coming-of-age, Halloween, and family drama. And the movie delivered. At CinemaCon 2024, Tim Burton said that coming back for Beetlejuice 2 was like “a big weird family reunion” (via The Hollywood Reporter). While a sequel to the original movie has been in talked about, actor Michael Keaton says this version of the script “finally it got right.” He also added: “I have to tell you this though, it’s really f—king good.”

Warner Bros. Entertainment

Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice clearly hasn't changed a bit.

What is Beetlejuice about?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

After Barbara and Adam die in a car accident, they wind up as ghosts unable to leave their home. When the Deetzes move into the home, Barbara and Adam try to scare them away, but only end up making things worse when they attract trickster spirit Beetlejuice. Watch the Beetlejuice trailer here!

Why can't you say Beetlejuice 3 times?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

When you say "Beetlejuice" three times, it summons the titular spirit to you. Be warned! Life is already crazy enough without the help of the supernatural, thank you very much.

Will there be a Beetlejuice 3?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

We don't have an official word on a third Beetlejuice movie yet (we haven't even seen the second one!), but if the new poster is any indication, I think we're totally getting a trilogy. The official name of Beetlejuice 2, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, means that we're getting closer to the original film's iconic phrase. You know, where you say Beetlejuice three times in a row? If we do get a third film, it would be incredible if it was called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice!

How old was Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice?

Warner Bros. Entertainment

Winona Ryder turned 16 years old during the filming of Beetlejuice.

'Tis the season... for giving and getting things you (and your giftees) might not really need. With sustainability becoming a paramount concern for many and the drawbacks of overconsumption entering our collective consciousness, the idea of gifting thoughtful, handmade, and possibly even zero-waste gifts is becoming ever more appealing. The only problem? We're not all as handy as we might like to be. Don't worry though — you don't need to be an expert maker to craft these DIY Christmas gifts! From beginner to advanced, there's a homemade Christmas gift idea for giver and giftee alike.

1. Edible DIY Christmas Gift Ideas

Brit + Co

If you know your way around a kitchen, don't sleep on the opportunity to give your loved ones an edible gift. You know it'll get used (AKA eaten), and it's essentially a zero-waste gift-giving strategy.

We love making pretty desserts that work well as gifts, like this matcha yogurt bark, this peppermint bark, these super easy Christmas cookie recipes, and these edible gift ideas. Package them up with these creative gift wrapping techniques, or forego paper altogether and wrap them with a cute kitchen towel for a zero-waste approach.

2. DIY Craft Kits To Gift

Etsy

If you're a complete beginner to DIY and handmade Christmas gifts, it might be smart to start out with a kit. A DIY kit allows you to fashion a thoughtful gift that shows your recipient just how much time and effort you put into giving them something special.

This DIY permanent jewelry kit is perfect for someone who wants to give their bestie a one-of-a-kind present this year. You can also DIY Christmas-scented candles, grow your loved one's birth month flower, or construct a super-cute tiny house to be displayed as kitschy decor.

3. Handmade Christmas Gifts

We love a good DIY. Our favorite presents are handmade Christmas gifts, and we've shared a ton of homemade gift ideas in our time.

A cute winter terrarium is perfect for the quirky decor lover in your life, while nothing brings the hygge vibes more than a hand-knit blanket. Give your favorite houseplant lover some gorgeous flora in one of these DIY cement planters, or embroider a pillow that'll add a cute touch of color to your bestie's home!

4. DIY Home Decor

Brit + Co

Speaking of your bestie's home, we've got plenty of ideas for DIY Christmas gifts you can give in the home decor category.

Spruce up a simple IKEA desk to give your work wife a WFH chair that's cute and from the heart. Make magazine wall art in your giftee's favorite colors to add a homemade, kitschy touch to their space. This Anthro-inspired DIY chandelier is another great option for artsy decor lovers.

A friend who loves hostessing will appreciate this pineapple cutting board, and someone who's into the beauty of organization will swoon over this DIY wall organizer.

DIY Jewelry

Taylor Swift fans everywhere were shocked to discover The Tortured Poets Department wasn't exclusively about Joe Alwyn — it actually featured a ton of songs that seem to be about Matty Healy, from "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" to "loml" and "Guilty As Sin?" Despite the fact the ex-couple met in 2014, and Taylor even wore 1975 merch during her 1989 era, they've never actually been featured on each other's albums (aside from one Midnights song that got scrapped). But it looks like that could all change because one anonymous source claims Taylor Swift will actually be on Matty's new album!

Here's everything you need to know about those Taylor Swift & Matty Healy album rumors.

  • Taylor Swift & Matty Healy have talked about each other since 2014, but were romantically linked over the summer of 2023.
  • Multiple songs on The Tortured Poets Department appear to be about The 1975 frontman, who says he doesn't want to write music about "casual" relationships.
  • However one DeuxMoi source says we could be seeing a Taylor Swift feature soon.

Is Taylor Swift on Matty Healy's new album?

Fans immediately went into a spiral when Matty shared "Downtown Lights" by Annie Lennox on his Instagram story. After all, that's the song Taylor Swift mentions in "Guilty as Sin?", one of the songs that appear to be about The 1975 front man. In the song, Taylor sings about feeling trapped in a relationship, while another person sends her Annie's song.

"Drowning in the Blue Nile / He sent me 'Downtown Lights' / I hadn't heard it in a while / My boredom's bone deep / This cage was once just fine / Am I allowed to cry?"

One source told DeuxMoi that they'd seen Matty's new tracklist, and the song choice was an Easter egg for Taylor's feature! Consider me gagged.

Will Matty Healy's new album feature songs about Taylor?

No, it looks like Matty won't write songs about his relationship Taylor Swift after he told People he didn't want to write about "casual" relationships. "I think that a lot of artists, they become very interested in their lore, or they become interested in the things that have happened outside of their art that people know about, and they want to address that," he says.

But Matty doesn't want to write about his relationships just because they're getting attention from the public. "I would kind of just be lying if I made a record about, I don’t know, all the stuff that was said about me or my casual romantic liaisons or whatever it may be that I’ve kind of become known for, just because I was famous," he says.

"The idea of making a record about something that personally happened to me," he continues, "that by the time I put it out is gonna be like two years old, I see people doing that as well, and it’s not interesting." Yikes.

But we could see songs about his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel, and I'm hoping we do!

Is there a new 1975 album coming?

Yes, Matty Healy revealed during a performance that we're getting a new album soon! “We’re working on a new record now,” he said while sitting at the piano. He shared a snippet from a new song before telling the audience, "It’s a line actually, what is it…‘I take a minute when I think I won’t die from stopping.’”

“And that’s really how I’ve felt for a long time,” he continues. “We really appreciate you guys and thank you so much. We’re going to go away and hopefully make you a good new album. I just don’t know what to do in the meantime, really.”

Is Taylor Swift releasing a new album?

While a second source claims Taylor is releasing a new album December 6 and record stores have been notified, another user says the opposite, commenting, "As someone with multiple very close record store connections, I assure you, record stores have not be alerted of anything." December 6 kicks off the final Eras Tour weekend, so we'll have to see what kinds of tricks Taylor has up her sleeve!
