As if Oprah Winfrey’s Cecil B. DeMille award acceptance speech wasn’t everything you wanted it to be, the persistent rumors and requests for the former daytime star to run for president in 2020 reached a fever pitch last night. While fans rejoiced (and lost their minds) at the inspiring message the Queen of Talk shared, Winfrey’s longtime beau, Stedman Graham, told the LA Times that dreams may just come true after all.
“I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” Winfrey said. “We know the press is under siege these days. We also know it’s the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and to injustice.”
“To tyrants and victims, and secrets and lies,” she continued, countering the negative way the press is discussed in politics these days, “I want to say that I value the press more than ever before as we try to navigate these complicated times, which brings me to this: What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I’m especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories. Each of us in this room are celebrated because of the stories that we tell, and this year we became the story.”
Oprah went from being dirt poor to becoming an ACTUAL self made billionaire, is intelligent, empathetic, hardworking & has done so much humanitarian work on top of being one of the best communicators on earth, why SHOULDN'T she run for president?! #Oprah2020

With fans all but begging the A Wrinkle in Timestar to run, Graham candidly told the paper that yes, of course, his partner would consider a run for president.
“It’s up to the people,” he said, adding, “she would absolutely do it.” Graham wasn’t the only person at the awards show inspired by the possibility of Winfrey dipping her toes into politics, either. Everyone from BFF Gayle King to Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson (who is also toying with the idea of a presidential future) told the mag that they were beyond inspired by Winfrey’s rousing speech.
Of course, Winfrey has never said she would actually run for president, but considering that our current sitting president is a former reality television star, there’s no reason why the multi-talented star shouldn’t run. But if Winfrey’s seriously letting the people decide, the response to last night’s acceptance speech should be all the proof she needs.
Oprah 2020, y’all!
