5 Personality Quirks You Might Have, Based On Your Work-From-Home Routine

work from home location

We're all pretty familiar with working from home by now. Taking five steps from your bed to your desk might have lost its initial sparkly charm, but I will admit it's pretty magical to work from bed when you've got debilitating period cramps and nausea. Over four years of remote work also means we've all mastered exactly what kind of work environment suits us — and we're here to tell you what your go-to workspace says about you. Consider it your WFH office personality test.

If You Work Outside, You're Great At Managing Stress

Michell Wu Feng/Brit + Co

If you take your laptop outside to work while you also soak up some sun, you've definitely figured out how to keep your laptop from overheating (teach us your ways, please!!). You enjoy taking it slow and often stop to smell the roses, figuratively and also maybe literally. Finding a great work-life balance is so important in 2024 and you've got it down pat. Because, let's be real, how can you be stressed when you're lounging by the pool?

If You Work On The Couch, You Love To Chill

Michell Wu Feng/Brit + Co

I'll be the first to praise anyone who can work from the couch. It proves you're adaptable and multi-hyphenate. After all, working from the couch is both chill and chaotic. It's relaxing and free-flowing. It's fun and unstructured. If you're a pro at this workspace, it just proves you can handle a lot: balancing your laptop, reaching for your beverage, and kicking your feet up. Get cozy, girl!

If You Work At The Kitchen Table, You Love Extra Space

Michell Wu Feng/Brit + Co

If you work from the kitchen table, there's also a good chance you're a Hufflepuff: you're dependable, you're a great time, and you always have either a snack or a drink with you...like, at all times. You probably love to have all your stuff spread out where you can see it (I feel this on a very deep level), and you're a very generous friend and work partner. Since kitchens can have a lot of windows, you probably also like having a lot of light.

If You Work At A Desk, You've Got It Together

Michell Wu Feng/Brit + Co

Desk girlies rise! I love the structure of working at a desk, and all my pens, notebooks, and headphones having a place to go. If you also work at a desk everyday, you're probably the Mom friend who plans your group's trips, you daydream about your five year plan, and you budget like nobody's business. You're dependable and honest, and are exactly who you say you are!

If You Work From Your Bed, You Love Comfort (Or You're Cramping, As Previously Mentioned)

Michell Wu Feng/Brit + Co

Working from bed is the ultimate luxury, so you definitely love the finer things in life if you work from bed. Thanks to your bedside table, there's plenty of space for all your necessities: a book, journal, beverage, lip balm. You romanticize your life, and you love to be comfortable, but that also makes you a soft place to land for all your friends. We all need a friend like you!

A recent Gallup pollshowed that fewer than half of Americans are “very satisfied” with their life choices. Where you live, it turns out, has a lot to do with your overall life satisfaction: the community you have, the quality of life you experience, and your physical and emotional health and safety. Personal finance website, WalletHub released its report on the Happiest Cities in America in 2024 to find the places where people experience the highest life satisfaction and the results are surprising.

“Meaningful relationships and social connections are perhaps the most important ingredients for a happy life, according to an 85-year-long study recently published by Harvard researchers Waldinger and Schulz (2022)," says Buffie Longmire-Avital, Ph.D., a professor at Elon University. “High-quality relationships stand out as important predictors of individuals' happiness. Having rewarding interactions with people whom you value and who value you may provide the support, comfort, laughter, and intimacy that elevate individuals' happiness.”

Jess Loiterton

WalletHub first compared the 50 states across 30 key indicators of happiness, with a date set that ranged from the depression rate and the share of adults feeling productive to income growth and the unemployment rate. Hawaii has the lowest share of adult depression, which is 2.3 times lower than in Tennessee, the state with the highest. New Jersey has the fewest suicides (per 100,000 residents), which is 3.7 times fewer than in Montana, the state with the most. Utah has the highest volunteer rate, which is 2.6 times higher than in Florida, the state where the rate is the lowest. Volunteerism is another way people find purpose and joy in life.

William Bout

In order to determine the happiest cities in America, WalletHub compared 182 of the largest cities — including the 150 most populated U.S. cities — across three key areas:

  • Emotional & Physical Well-Being
  • Income & Employment
  • Community & Environment

Priscilla Du Preez

“When individuals have a high sense of community...well-being increases, and stress, anxiety, and depression decrease. Neighborhoods with high walkability scores that are also safe and near things like parks or trails help sustain our physical and mental health, which are key factors in determining happiness,” adds Dr. Longmire-Avital.

Here are the top 20 happiest U.S. cities, many of which score high on the nature and family-friendly aspect. Ready for a new start or planning local travel this season? Check them out!

Fremont, CA

According to the WalletHub report, Fremont, CA, located in the San Francisco Bay Area, is the happiest city in America, and one reason why is income: the city has the highest share of households with an income above $75,000, at nearly 80 percent. Studies have shown that increasing your income also increases your happiness up to $75,000 (but not beyond). With a rich history tied to the California Gold Rush, Fremont has evolved into a hub for the tech industry, including Tesla's Fremont Factory. The city offers excellent schools, a wide range of cultural experiences, and outdoor spaces like Mission Peak. People in Fremont also have a high rate of life satisfaction, a low depression rate, and a long lifespan on average. It also has the lowest share of adults who report having mentally unhealthy days, so people in the city seem to be doing the self care needed to keep themselves happy.

Overland Park, KS

Visit Overland Park

Overland Park, KS, has earned its spot as the second-happiest city in the U.S., thanks to several key factors that contribute to its residents' well-being. With the lowest poverty rate in the nation at just 4.2 percent and an impressively low unemployment rate of 3 percent, it's clear that financial stability plays a huge role in their happiness. The city also boasts one of the lowest food insecurity rates, meaning more families have what they need to thrive. Residents of Overland Park also enjoy a lot of leisure time each week, which many spend participating in sports — one of the top ways to stay emotionally and physically healthy. Overland Park boasts a rich cultural scene, including the Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, and a variety of dining and shopping options. People in Overland Park tend to get more sleep than those in most other cities, a crucial factor for maintaining a positive mindset.

San Jose, CA

The city has the longest average life expectancy in the country. It also has one of the lowest separation and divorce rates and scores the best on the health and wellness company Sharecare’s Community Well-Being Index, which measures how much residents like where they live, feel safe and have pride in their community. It also scores extremely well on Sharecare’s Life-Satisfaction Index, which measures people’s health risks based on various physical, financial and social factors.

I'm speaking from firsthand experience when I say writing retreats are the ultimate form of R&R. Sleeping, exploring a place you've never been, and trying new foods help you feel more in touch with yourself, and in turn, more in touch with your creativity. Every single time, I've come away feeling more like myself than I did in the beginning. And in Laura Dern's new romance movie Lonely Planet, she's getting in touch with her writing, herself, and Liam Hemsworth's Owen.

Laura plays Katherine, a writer who hopes a trip to Morocco will dissolve her writer's block and allow her to finish her book. When she meets Owen, who's attending the retreat with his girlfriend, their hesitant friendship turns into a passionate love affair that reminds Katherine what it feels like to really be alive. And the new Lonely Planet trailer totally has me dreaming about my own trip to Morocco!

Laura Dern falls in love twice in the Lonely Planet trailer: once with Morocco and once with Liam Hemsworth. And TBH, both are totally relatable. But while Owen feels constantly put down and misunderstood by his girlfriend, Katherine seems to be carrying some secrets of her own. And it looks like their friendship (and a steamy poolside makeout sesh) are going to help Katherine break down some of her walls.

We love soaking up the chilly fall vibes, but this is going to be the perfect movie for when you're missing summer just a little bit. If anything's going to give Katherine a major break through, it's the bright and colorful streets of Morocco. It's just so good for the soul!

Lonely Planet stars Laura Dern, Liam Hemsworth, Diana Silvers, Younès Boucif, Adriano Giannini, and Rachida Brakni. Watch it when it hits Netflix October 11! See the other October Movies That'll Get You In The Mood For Halloween.

Everybody raise your Kir Royale cocktails because Emily in Paris has just been renewed for season 5! (And it looks like she might be trading some of her cocktails for espresso). The official Emily in Paris & Netflix Instagram accounts made the announcement on September 16 with a video of Lily Collins sipping some espresso on a rooftop.

"There's no place like Rome," Lily says with a wink. And, to be frank, we have to agree. I didn't think Emily in Parisseason 4 (or its fashion) could get any better after that Part 1 ending, but taking our favorite Parisians to Rome turned out to be a fantastic move — and not just because it introduced us to Marcello. Here's everything you need to know about Emily in Paris season 5.

Is there a season 5 for Emily in Paris?

Yes, Emily in Paris season 5 is coming to Netflix. "We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!" creator Darren Star tells TUDUM.

The renewal comes as no surprise considering season 4 held Netflix Global Top 10's top spot and received almost 20 million views in four days.

When is Emily in Paris season 5 coming out?

Emily in Paris Season 5 Release Date

We don't have an official release date yet, but considering seasons 1 through 3 only had a year in between them, we could see Emily in Paris season 5 in 2025. (Season 4 suffered a delay due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes).

What is Emily in Paris season 5 about?

Giulia Parmigiani/Netflix

Emily in Paris Season 5 Plot

The Emily in Paris season 4 finale changed everything when Emily decided to stay in Rome and head up an Italian office for Agence Grateau. But, don't worry French fans. Darren Star promises we'll see her in the City of Love again, telling The Wrap, "definitely we’re not leaving Paris behind.”

And after Gabriel realized how much he wants to be with Emily in the season 4 finale, it looks like season 5 will feature even more of the show's signature relationship drama. "I think [Gabriel] realized that he wasn’t even aware of the fact that [Emily] left and how disconnected they’d become," Star continues. "He’s met the guy; he realizes the circumstances under which they met, and I think he just didn’t understand how fast things had moved between them."

But as much as we love to see Emily and Gabriel together, Lily Collins is excited to explore a Emily and Marcello. “Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” she tells TUDUM. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Who's in the cast of Emily in Paris season 5?

Emily in Paris Season 5 Cast

You can expect a lot of your favorites to return for Emily in Paris season 5, like Lily Collins, Eugenio Franceschini, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Ashley Park, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Samuel Arnold, and Bruno Gouery. I hope we see Camille Razat too!

If you ask us, celebrating our favorite TV shows is just as much fun as watching them, and the 2024 Emmy Awards made for such a memorable night. From John Oliver celebrating all our pets to Selena Gomez and Martin Short having the sweetest onstage moment, we can't get enough of all our favorite stars. And that includes the celebrity style! Everybody made the "Best Dressed" this year, but these are the most show-stopping looks we can't stop thinking about.

The Best Red Carpet Outfits From The 2024 Emmys

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Ilona Maher in Oscar de la Renta

Ilona is scoring a gold medal with this gorgeous midnight blue gown. I love the way it highlights her shoulders, and how chic the peplum detail is. Plus, the silver jewelry really reminds me of stars in a night sky!

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Brie Larson in Chanel

Speaking of dark blue moments, this Chanel look is the perfect 'fit for Brie's Lessons in Chemistry nomination. It's giving classy yet creative, which is something Elizabeth Zott would approve of.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Ayo Edebiri in Bottega Veneta

I LOVE this wild black, yellow, and orange pattern (and not just because it's giving The Cheetah Girls). Ayo's strappy black heels and earrings balance out the bold color palette, and loose waves keep the look from being too done up.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Nicola Coughlan in Prabal Gurung

The statement-making, sassy, no-apologies vibe of this look is giving me MAJOR Lady Whistledown vibes. And Dearest Reader, what else is there to say?

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Kristen Wiig in Oscar de la Renta

Kristen's gown is a lesson in playing with texture — and how rocking a monochromatic look with minimal jewelry can still make a statement.

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

Anna Sawai in Vera Wang

Anna made history as the first Japanese star to win for Best Lead Actress at the Emmys — and she did so wearing one of the most beautiful looks of the night. The mermaid silhouette is playful but edgy (thanks to the pointed detail of the bodice).

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Dakota Fanning in Armani Privé

I cannot stop looking at this gorgeous champagne and pearl number Dakota wore on the red carpet. It's the perfect mix of feminine, classy, and understated, and even though she isn't wearing a necklace or bracelets, the pearl detail makes this dress its own accessory.

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Quinta Brunson in Georges Chakra

The silhouette of Quinta's dress comes across similarly to Anna Sawait's — but Quinta takes a Clara Bow approach to the look with an old school hairstyle and moody glam. Obsessed!
