Last week, Disney debuted a new teaser trailer and poster for A Wrinkle in Time, the upcoming movie based on Madeleine L’Engle’s beloved classic. Both were out of this world, but the teaser was just to whet our appetite for the full trailer, which dropped during the 2017 American Music Awards and is already taking us on the magical journey of a lifetime.

The new trailer was also shared by the movie’s director, Ava DuVernay, who tweeted, “Who Gets To Be The Hero? The new trailer for @WrinkleInTime is here! #BeAWarrior.”
In the clip, we’re whisked right into an adventure that sees Meg Murray (Storm Reid) setting out to save her scientist father, played by Star Trek and Wonder Woman actor Chris Pine.
Helped on her way by three mysterious beings, Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), Meg must be more than a hero — she must be a warrior.
Fans couldn’t contain their excitement over the trailer. “My childhood just hit me in the gut,” one person wrote in response to DuVernay’s tweet. “Reading this book at bedtime with my dad. Seeing this now, with a little girl that could have been me….. I’m crying. Thank you. Thank you so much.”

No doubt those words mean a lot to Reid, who previously told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s just surreal because I get to empower other little African-American girls around the world and say that you can be a superhero and you rock and you can conquer the world and you are beautiful just the way you are and your flaws are nothing and you’re awesome. It feels really good to be able to inspire not only little girls [but] everyone.”
A Wrinkle in Time will hit theaters on March 9, 2018.
