You’ll Cheer for Starbucks’ New All-Inclusive Parental-Leave Policy

We’ve been seeing some SERIOUSLY positive things in our newsfeeds today: From New York’s new regulation to continue free birth control to the 500 women who signed up to train to run for office following yesterday’s marches, it feels like one big continuation of yesterday’s insane lovefest.

Now, Starbucks is giving us yet ANOTHER reason to smile (in addition to its Cascara Latte, which, may we say, just may be our favorite yet — less sweet!). The megachain has announced that, as of October 1, non-store, corporate employees seeking maternity leave that work 20 hours a week or more can look forward to not only the six weeks off they currently have at 67 percent of their usual pay (federal law mandates a total of 12 weeks unpaid), but 18 weeks off at 100 percent. Whoa.

What’s more, they can choose to extend that time by an additional 12 weeks, though that time would be unpaid.

And what about the men or non-birth mothers of non-store employees, you ask? (This week is all about gender equality, after all.) They’re eligible to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave — even as adopted parents.

Store employees will also receive greater benefits — they’ll now receive their six weeks at 100 percent paid versus the previous 67 percent, with the option to take 12 weeks of additional unpaid leave, with non-birth partners offered up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave.

Dang! No wonder it’s been previously named one of the top 100 companies people want to work for!

Bravo, Starbucks. Bravo.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this post stated the new policy would be effective for all Starbucks employees. These benefits will be available to non-store corporate employees, although greater benefits will exist for current store employees as well. The post has been updated, and we regret the error!

After cutting a significant amount of drink and food items from menus earlier this year, Starbucks is discontinuing another fan-favorite bakery item: the Double Chocolate Brownie. Gasp! Say it isn’t so! But alas, it seems to be… so. Chatter among Starbucks employees sadly say that the brownie will leave menus super soon.

Here’s everything we know about the famed Starbucks brownie being discontinued.

they’re discontinuing the brownie 😭😭😭

An internal monthly report sent to Starbucks employees at the beginning of April reportedly detailed the brownie’s discontinuation, according to an employee on a Reddit thread: “stores will be getting their last shipments in mid-late April and once those sell out [it's] done,” they said.

Brit + Co reached out to Starbucks for an official comment on the news. Starbucks confirmed that the Double Chocolate Brownie will be removed from the Starbucks menu in the U.S. in May in order to focus on premium offerings rooted in customer trends and preferences.

Starbucks

The news comes amid a slew of changes at Starbucks – the chain is reducing the size of the menu by 30% and revamping the employee dress code (of which many workers are disgruntled about). Starbucks cites a “focus on fewer, more popular items, executed with excellence” for the ongoing changes, which will allow the company to “make way for innovation, help reduce wait times, improve quality and consistency, and align with our core identity as a coffee company.”

Starbucks

Several baristas sounded off with frustration in the Reddit thread that surfaced the brownie’s demise:

“Bruh why the brownie and not the madelines?” one person wrote. “Like I rarely sell a Madeline but we keep selling out of brownies!! Now I have to explain to a LOT of customers that their favorite little treat has been discontinued.”

“Why don’t they get rid of the other things that DON’T sell, like the VB scone or ginger cookie?” another user commented. “We can’t even keep the brownie on the shelf because people love it.”

“Brownies are classic, and this is just bad business,” one more Redditor said.

Starbucks

The Starbucks Double Chocolate Brownie is just one of 6 items on the ‘Treat’ section of their menu, which includes three cake pop flavors and two cookies. The brownie itself is described as “rich” with “generous chunks of semisweet chocolate.” It always makes a great mid-day treat with some strong coffee, so make sure grab it before it's gone if you're a sweet treat fanatic!

Once the Double Chocolate Brownie disappears from Starbucks menus in May, you can luckily still get a similar chocolate fix via the chain's Chocolate Cake Pop or Chocolate Chip Cookie.

Starbucks

Many more Starbucks employees and customers were quite sad to hear about the brownie’s disappearance:

“Noooo :( They keep getting rid of things I love!” one Redditor commented. “RIP the protein boxes, chocolate cookie crumble frappuccino, and now my beloved brownie.”

“But brownies and coffees together are elite? Poorest choice ever,” another user said.

“Not quite what was meant when people said Starbucks needed a smaller menu,” one person declared. “This is so dumb.”

The '90s called to let everyone know we're finally getting a sequel to Clueless, but we won't be reliving 97 minutes of nostalgia. Rather, a series is being developed right now and we've got all the details about it! I, for one, am ready to see Cher Horowitz and crew all grown up because the original movie's ending alluded to their bright futures.

Scroll to find out what to expect from the Clueless TV series, plus revisit the scene that made me fall in love with playing dress up!

Is there going to be a Clueless 2?

Yes! Variety announced Peacock is developing the Clueless sequel series yesterday. We can already hear Cher saying "Whatever" to someone who's doing something annoying.

Which cast members will be in Clueless 2?

Amy Sussman/Getty Images

As of now, Alicia Silverstone's return as Cher Horowitz is the only cast information that's been publicized (via Variety). We'd love to see Paul Rudd return as Josh and Stacey Dash as Dionne Davenport!

What is Clueless 2 about?

The plot's details are still TBA (to be announced), but Variety is convinced the Clueless sequel series will pick up after the events of the movie.

Who's producing and writing the script for Clueless 2?

Writers Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Jordan Weiss are hard at work on the Clueless script. Alicia Silverstone is also an executive producer alongside Amy Heckerling, writer and director of the OG film, and producer Robert Lawrence (via Variety).

Knowing the names who made the iconic film what it is makes me feel relieved the series will be the one fans of the cult classic deserve!

I was 100% convinced I'd be able to wear computer generated outfits which probably explains my love for the now defunct Polyvore. It was a collage sight that became home for those who loved creating virtual style mood boards and I like to think Cher Horowitz inspired it.

For more than two centuries, Jane Austen's novels have continued to captivate readers with their wit and romance. But aside from their timeless stories and swoon-worthy affairs, her works also serve as stellar inspiration for baby names.

Whether you're drawn to classic choices like Henry or more unique surnames, such as Darcy, there's no shortage of character and charm to be found. So, for devoted Jane Austen fans or those who simply love vintage and sophisticated names, here are eight iconic picks inspired by some of her most revered works.

Scroll to see all our favorite Jane Austen-inspired baby names for 2025!

1. Anne

Mochi Mochi

Anne Elliot, the resilient heroine of Persuasion, is one of Jane Austen's most introspective protagonists. She was once persuaded to reject her true love and endured years of regret before she got a second chance at happiness.

True to her name, which means "grace" and "favor," Anne embodied quiet dignity and inner strength. This moniker is derived from Hebrew and carries a ton of other historical significance, too, from biblical figures to queens.

2. Edward

Huy Nguyễn

Loyal and kind-hearted, Edward Ferrars of Sense and Sensibility is a hero who values integrity over wealth and status.

The name Edward, which is rooted in Old English, means "wealthy guard," a fitting title for a character so protective and principled. It's perfect for a little boy who carries a sense of honor and dependability.

3. Emma

Marisa Fahrner

Emma Woodhouse is the heroine of Jane Austen's Emma. She's spirited, charming, and well-meaning, but her matchmaking endeavors lead to some trouble before she ultimately finds love of her own.

This name means "whole" or "universal" and has a history stretching from medieval royalty to modern-day pop culture icons like Emma Watson and Emma Stone. It's well-suited for a baby girl who's going to leave her mark on the world.

4. Darcy

Murat Arpacı

Fitzwilliam Darcy is the brooding yet devoted hero in Pride and Prejudice. Once reserved as a surname, Darcy has evolved into a stylish, gender-neutral first name. It has Irish roots and means "dark-haired."

Darcy carries an air of mystery and intrigue, so it will definitely command attention.

5. Henry

Анна Хазова

In Northanger Abbey, Henry Tilney is a true gentleman who's humorous and warm, making this pick all the more appealing.

Derived from the German "Heimeric," meaning "house ruler," Henry has long been linked to kings. Today, the name blends strength with approachability.

6. Elinor

Pavel Danilyuk

Elinor Dashwood is the practical eldest sister in Sense and Sensibility. She embodies quiet strength, emotional depth, and thoughtfulness.

As a variation of Eleanor, the name Elinor has French and Arabic roots. It's often associated with meanings like "light" and "brilliance," making it a beautiful choice for a baby girl.

7. George

Nicole Peri

Even though most people remember the kind and wise Mr. Knightley in Emma by his surname, his first name is actually the classic George.

This moniker, which means "farmer" or "earthworker" in Greek, has a traditional charm. It's been associated with everyone from the British royal family to George Harrison of the Beatles, and can point to a flourishing future for your newest addition.

8. Frances

Сергей Терентьев

Finally, Frances "Fanny" Price of Mansfield Park is unforgettable due to her resilience and moral compass.

The name, which means "free" or "truthful," was originally derived from Latin and became very popular in Britain. Frances has a timeless grace to it that feels sincere yet strong, and the nickname Fanny is undeniably adorable.

Ryan Gosling has already stepped foot in Barbieland and proved his chops as an action star in The Fall Guy, and soon he's taking on outer space. (And no I'm not talking about a Blue Origin space flight). Ryan Gosling is joining the Star Wars universe! His new movie is being directed by Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy and it's going to be one heck of an intergalactic adventure.

Here's everything we know about Ryan Gosling's Star Wars: Starfighter, coming to theaters May 28, 2027.

Is Ryan Gosling going to be in Star Wars?

Yes, Ryan Gosling is going to lead a brand new Star Wars movie called Star Wars: Starfighter.

The movie was announced at the Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo, and both Ryan and Shawn showed up IRL! The Fall Guy proved he has what it takes to maintain that cool-guy vibe (just like Han Solo honestly), and I hope Starfighter has the same urban sci-fi adventure I love to see in Star Wars.

Where can I watch Star Wars: Starfighter?

Star Wars: Starfighter is coming to theaters May 28, 2027.

The movie's coming just after Avengers: Secret Wars, but it's not the next time Marvel and Star Wars could duke it out in the box office. Avengers: Doomsday is coming to theaters May 1, 2026, ahead of The Mandalorian & Grogu, which premieres May 22, 2026. Yes. That's a lot of Pedro Pascal, thank goodness.

What is the Star Wars Starfighter movie?

Star Wars: Starfighter is a brand new Star Wars movie that's set apart from any of the trilogies we've seen so far (although it looks like it's part of a brand new trilogy!). The movie is a "standalone adventure taking place approximately five years after the events of 2019's Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker."

But even though the final movie ended on a peaceful note, Ryan Gosling's character is sure to be in for some kind of crazy adventure. "This is the perfect place to start this journey for us, because it's such an incredible reminder of why we're going to make this movie and who we're going to make this movie for," Ryan said at the Star Wars Celebration (via Entertainment Weekly). "[The] script is just so good. It has such a great story with great and original characters."

"This is a standalone. It's not a prequel, not a sequel. It's a new adventure," Shawn added. "It's set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet."

When is Starfighter filming?

Filming for the movie is scheduled to begin the fall of 2025.

What is a Starfighter?

A starfighter in Star Wars is a small but armed starship used in battle.

As my family’s resident charcuterie master (shamelessly elated with that title), I’ve made so many boards in my day. Aside from the standard lineup of grapes, strawberries, cucumbers, and baby carrots, no other grocer’s selection of meats, cheeses, crackers, jams, and other goodies is as great as Trader Joe’s (in my humble opinion).

I practically sprint to TJ’s if I've been delegated the sensational task of setting up the snack board for a family gathering or game night with friends. Many of their charcuterie-ready picks are super affordable (but still luxe in quality) and there are endless combos you can craft depending on your fave flavors.

These 10 Trader Joe’s finds are the ones I always include in my charcuterie spreads since numerous tasting opportunities have proven they’re not to be missed. This list spans across savory and sweet options, too, so you’re not missing out on the whole flavor spectrum!

Scroll on for my top 10 Trader Joe’s charcuterie products worth adding to your next platter!

Trader Joe's

Spicy Uncured Charcuterie Collection

A good charcuterie always starts with the meat, and Trader Joe's is stocked with plenty of options. This premium $9 spicy trio is insanely tasty, provides you with a nice variety, plus, they make really stunning meat roses.

Trader Joe's

Salame di Parma Mild Salami

I'll also always typically grab a second option for meat, and that second grab tends to be salami since it's super salty and easy to eat with crackers and bits of cheese in the same bite. This $6 pack is described as "well-balanced" and "mild" so everyone will enjoy snacking on the slices.

Trader Joe's

Double Cream Brie

Brie is where it's at, and it gets even better when you whip up a simple baked brie to pair with the rest of your charcuterie goodies. To make mine, I'll snag this $8.49 block, chop it up and put it in a ramekin, and bake it at a high temp until it's nice and bubbly. It makes the perfect snack to dip crackers in, plus you can easily elevate it with two of my favorite add-ins below...

Trader Joe's

Spicy Honey Sauce

Yup – hot honey supremacy! Drizzling a bit of this on top of my baked brie truly changes everything. Both the sweet and spicy components of this $5 bottle pair wonderfully with brie – you'll be addicted once you try it, I promise.

Trader Joe's

Fig Butter

This $3 fig butter also goes absolutely nuts when you use it as a baked brie topper. It's super simple and subtly sweet. If you love complex, elevated flavors, you've gotta try this pick. It also works well on toasts, sammies, and even burgers!

Trader Joe's

Fig & Olive Crisps

Out of the literal millions of crackers Trader Joe's has to offer, I think these $4 babies are the best money can buy. Each bite is infused with flax, sesame, and sunflower seeds for a yummy crunch, plus, they're made with figs and olives that provide a delectable salty-sweet balance. What I like most about 'em is they have great structural integrity, so they don't break when you use them for dipping or layering between meats and cheeses.

Trader Joe's

Prosciutto Wrapped Fresh Mozzarella Cheese

This $5 snack has the best of both worlds, so it could be a good grab if you want to set up a snack board quickly without spending over $15 on a full suite of meats and cheeses. They're definitely easy to inhale because they're flavorful as ever!

Trader Joe's

Garlic & Jalapeño Stuffed Olives

I could go on and on and on and on about these stuffed olives. They're insane. A jar doesn't ever last long in my fridge. Each plump bite is packed with slivers of garlic and jalapeño, though they're not overly spicy. The brine balances everything out wonderfully. I like to serve these in a tiny bowl on top of my charcuterie boards and eat 'em up!

Trader Joe's

Ciabatta Demi-Baguette

This bread is a must if you're looking to made a baked brie with your charcuterie board: slice it up, toast the pieces for a bit, and you have the perfect vessel for a spoonful of melty brie paired with either the hot honey or fig jam. I tend to buy this "demi" size because I often enjoy my charcuterie boards with one or two other people, but TJ's also sells full-size baguettes to feed bigger crowds!

Trader Joe's

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

These PB cups easily rank in my top 10 favorite Trader Joe's products of all time. Encased in decadent dark chocolate, these bites also hold plenty of creamy peanut butter for a timeless treat – especially one you'll want to unwrap after chowing down on charcuterie!
