Andy Cohen Is Expecting His First Child Via Surrogate
Andy Cohen is going to be a dad! The Watch What Happens Live host revealed on Thursday, December 20, that he’s expecting his first child via surrogate.
“Tonight I want to share a little personal news of my own,” Cohen told his audience as Thursday’s show came to a close. “To the viewers at home, I call you my friends at home because we are friends. You have supported me through almost 10 years of Live. This has been an incredible, joyous journey with you all. I am grateful to be able to live my dream every day and grateful to you for coming along for the ride.”
Explaining that he wanted to be as transparent as possible with his “friends at home,” he shared the exciting news. “Tonight, I want you to be the first to know that after many years of careful deliberation, a fair amount of prayers, and the benefit of science, if all goes according to plan, in about six weeks time I’m going to become a father.”
Amid excited cheering and applause from the audience, he went on to reveal that a “wonderful” surrogate is carrying the child for him. “Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something that I have wanted in my heart for my entire life,” he said.
Original Real Housewives stars Teresa Giudice, Vicki Gunvalson, Ramona Singer, Kyle Richards, and NeNe Leakes were on set with the host and could be seen excitedly celebrating the news.
Cohen didn’t reveal any other details, such as the baby’s sex or whether he will be raising the child independently or with a partner or co-parent. But given his self-professed love of “oversharing,” the Bravo host and producer will likely share more details when his child arrives.
“Though it’s taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be the most rewarding chapter yet,” Cohen, 50, concluded. “Here’s to 2019.”
