Angry Orchard’s New Rosé Cider Will Make You Feel Princess-y
You may have swooned over the news that Angry Orchard just released Rosé Cider ($8 for six bottles), and now we know exactly what it tastes like. Despite its name, the hard cider isn’t technically rosé wine. The beverage’s rosy color comes from rare French apples with red skins and pink flesh (oooh la la), and hibiscus. According to the press release, “The hard cider style has a floral aroma, provides an apple forward taste, and is complimented by refreshingly light tannins, similar to a semi-dry wine. The bright, rosy color compliments the juicy, yet dry finish of this medium body cider.” With an ABV of 5.5 percent, a bottle is lower than your standard hard cider but higher than a light beer. Be warned: This stuff is seriously tasty and its contents will disappear quicker than you’d like.
Brit + Co’s Food Editor Anna Monette Roberts is head over heals in love with the new libation. “I tried it, and it’s heavenly,” said Roberts. “It tastes like Hello Kitty and Disney World swirled into one. It’s not sweet but tastes very fragrant and floral.” She recommends pairing the cider with a fresh baguette and French cheeses while picnicking during the day or as an aperitif at night. We have a feeling that you will love it too once you try a sip.
