Apple Asiago Dog Treats = A Puppy Bowl Must Have!
Super Bowl… pff. Over it! Let’s talk about the The Puppy Bowl! Next to the National Dog Show on Thanksgiving, the Puppy Bowl is probably the cutest thing you can ever watch on TV. So, while you’re whipping up your pizza, taquitos, and sliders for Super Bowl Sunday, don’t forget to also pop in some Apple Asiago Puppy Treats for your hungry hounds.
Ingredients:
– 2 cups barley flour
– 1/2 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
– 1/3 cup shredded gruyere cheese
– 1/4 cup shredded asiago cheese
– 1/3 cup sugar-free applesauce
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
Supplies:
– football cookie cutter
– wax paper
– rolling pin
Now let’s get barking… I mean baking!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients. The dough is pretty dry so add enough water for it form into dough. We added about 1/8 cup.
Knead dough with hands and then place on a sheet of wax paper. Cover the dough with a second sheet of paper and start rolling! Roll the dough out until it is about 1/4 inch thick.
Time to cut out those puppy footballs. We used three different sized football cookie cutters because here at Brit + Co. we have all different sized dogs. Space biscuits about a 1/2 inch apart on prepared baking sheet, (they don’t expand) and bake for 30 minutes.
Don’t these look adorable!?
Wait at least 30 minutes before passing these off to your pooch.
Our pups couldn’t keep their paws off of these footballs!
Even Anj got in on the action! :) Yes, these treats are human friendly too! Little heads up: they don’t pack much punch in the flavor department.
