Three Cheers for Our Apple Cide-car Cocktail
As promised yesterday, today we’re bringing you an apple cider cocktail. But it’s not just any cider cocktail, it’s cide-car. Get it? Sidecar…cide-car! It might be our favorite, punniest take on a classic cocktail, yet! What’s even better? It’s incredibly simple to shake up, and only has four ingredients, plus the apple slice for the garnish. Be sure you have a jigger for this recipe since everything is proportional. Let’s drink!
Ingredients:
– apple cider
– brandy
– Cointreau
– lemon juice
– apple
– ice
Tools:
– cocktail shaker
– jigger
Let’s start with the two main ingredients—apple cider and brandy. Fill your cocktail shaker 3/4 full with ice. Then fill the larger side of your jigger with apple cider, and pour it into the cocktail shaker.
Next, do the same thing with the brandy. Once you’ve poured it in, dry out the large side of the jigger. You’re done with it (until the next round).
Fill the small side of your jigger with Cointreau, and add it to the shaker. If you don’t have Cointreau, you can also use triple sec.
Squeeze enough lemon juice to fill the small side of the jigger, and—you guessed it—add it to the cocktail shaker.
Now let’s get shaking! Cap the shaker and shake it vigorously until it’s too cold to hold. Then shake it a little more. Take solace in the fact that you’ll have a cocktail in that cold hand in another 30 seconds.
Thinly slice an apple. We went for one of the middle slices so we got that pretty star shape from the seeds.
Pour the cocktail into your glass.
Add your apple slice.
And enjoy!
