Spike Your Sweets: Bourbon Apple Cider Sorbet
To round out our week of all things apple, we’re bringing you an apple cider sorbet. But it just wouldn’t be a Brit + Co. recipe unless we spiked it! The trick here is to use frozen apples to start. This will speed up your freezing time. And you don’t even have to use an ice cream maker. Because the apples are mostly water, you can just freeze the applesauce-like mixture after running it through the blender. Yum!
Ingredients:
– 3 cups chopped apples
– 1 cup apple cider
– 1/2 cup sugar
– splash of bourbon
Instructions:
1. Freeze your chopped apples overnight. This will save time when you’re ready to freeze the sorbet.
3. Combine the frozen apples, cider, sugar, and bourbon in a blender. Blend until smooth.
4. Transfer to a freezer-safe container, and freeze until solid.
5. If the texture is too icy for your taste, run the mixture through your blender again and re-freeze.
Prepare your apples ahead of time, and freeze them overnight. This will save you time once you’re ready to make the sorbet. We left the skins on our apples to give it a pretty reddish look, but you can peel them if you want to.
Combine all the ingredients in your blender. Remember the more bourbon you add the softer your sorbet will be. So splash lightly!
Make sure everything gets completely mixed together! Stop and stir the mixture if you need to. Once it’s all blended, pop it in the freezer.
Time to dig in! We can’t get enough of this boozy fall flavor!
