Take a Bite Out of Autumn with Apple Spice Cake Pops
Who doesn’t like the idea of taking a bite out of Autumn? Well, now you can with these Apple Spice Cake Pops. Each bite is full of sweet, spice, and even a little salt with the caramel drizzle. Now, let’s get started before the season’s over!
Ingredients:
– 1 box spice cake mix (we used Betty Crocker)
– 1 21oz can apple pie filling
– 3 eggs
– 1 package Wilton candy melts
– 1 can cream cheese frosting
– salted caramel for drizzling
– Tools: lollipop sticks
Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F (325 degrees F for dark or nonstick pan).
In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, apple pie filling, and eggs. Pour into a greased cake pan and bake for about 34 minutes, or until the top is lightly browned. Let the cake cool to room temperature. Then, crumble the cake and mix in 3/4 can of frosting until blended.
Roll mixture into small balls and lay on a cookie sheet, lined with wax paper. Put in the freezer for about 20-30 minutes, or until solid.
In the meantime, microwave the candy melts in 30 second intervals until completely melted. Remove the cake from the freezer. Then, dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the candy melts and insert the stick no more than halfway into the cake ball. This will help the cake stay on the stick. Gently roll the cake in the candy melt and top off with caramel. Don’t cover the cake with too much frosting or it may crack.
