Ariana Grande Posts Heartfelt Message About Mac Miller Amid Split Reports
Ariana Grande never publicly confirmed or denied speculation that she was engaged to Mac Miller, and she’s not directly addressing the current rumors that they’ve broken up, either. But she did share a heartfelt message about Miller that proves their relationship is still rock-solid in the most important way.
The “No Tears Left To Cry” songstress took to her Instagram stories on Thursday, May 10, to post a photo of herself and Miller with a note that read, “Hi! This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favorite people on the planet Malcolm McCormick. I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!”
She continued, “Unconditional love is not selfish. It is wanting the best for that person even if at the moment, it’s not you.” To Miller, she added: “I can’t wait to know and support you forever and I’m so proud of you!!”
The two musicians first met in 2013 when they collaborated on Grande’s “The Way.” While they shared a kiss in the song’s video, Grande was dating someone else at the time.
Their friendship turned into more, though, after they worked together on Miller’s 2016 song, “My Favorite Part.” Grande told Cosmopolitan, “I met him when I was 19. We have loved and adored and respected each other since the beginning, since before we even met, just because we were fans of each other’s talent. We weren’t ready at all, though, to be together.”
She continued, “It’s just timing. We both needed to experience some things, but the love has been there the whole time. There were times over the years when he would call me and hear that I was stressed or overwhelmed or not doing well, and he would call my mom. There were also times when he was really broken and sad — this was years ago — and I would come take care of him, because we love each other as best friends first and foremost.”
