Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s Season of ‘The Bachelor’ Already Looks Dramatic AF
We’re only three weeks away from the New Year’s Day premiere of season 22 of The Bachelor with Arie Luyendyk Jr. After getting reacquainted with the latest leading man by binge-watching his first shot at love on TheBachelorette and meeting all 29 contestants, we’re just about ready to sink into a another season of roses, adventure, and, by the looks of the new trailer, LOTS of drama.
Luyendyk became known as the “kissing bandit” on season 8 of TheBachelorette starring Emily Maynard, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to shed that title anytime soon. The latest teaser shows the pro race car driver making out with the contestants in Tuscany, Paris, and just about everywhere else, including on a jet ski while his lady sits backwards.
As is standard on the franchise, we also get plenty of waterworks as the women try to navigate their blossoming relationships with Luyendyk, as well as with each other. “It’s going to be absolute mayhem and carnage, because women are ruthless,” one contestant can be heard saying. There seems to be some particular tension around Bekah’s refusal to reveal her age — and who knows what else.

One of the biggest bombshells of the season promises to be the surprise arrival of a contestant’s ex boyfriend. “I don’t wanna be on this show, I want my girl,” the ex is heard saying. “I’m here to tell her that I want to marry her!”
It’s a surprise that leaves leading man Luyendyk angry, possibly because he has a proposal of his own planned. At one point in the teaser, he’s seen holding a ring, saying, “I’m gonna tell this girl that I love her and hopefully get down on one knee.”
It’s safe to say there’s a LOT in store! Season 22 of The Bachelor premieres on Monday, January 1, 2018 at 8pm on ABC.
