Supermodel Ashley Graham Is Joining the Staff of a Major Fashion Mag
If the fashion industry elected an MVP, Ashley Graham would definitely be the 2016 winner. Between her historic Sports Illustrated cover, her super sexy swimwear collection and her appearance in DNCE’s new music video, she’s kind of killing it in the modeling + body positivity realm. Taking our appreciation for her one step further, Ashley has recently announced a whole new venture in fashion: She’s joining the team at InStyle as a contributing editor.
Graham will author a column in the glossy mag called “Great Style Has No Size.” Dedicated readers may have noticed that she’s actually already authored this column in the May and June 2016 issues. Graham explains to Fashionista that throughout her 16 years of modeling she’s picked up a million different style tips and trips. She says, “I never went to college… my college experience was in the midst of catwalks, catalogs and casting calls.”
In line with the release of her swimwear collection, Ashley’s June column in InStyle offers up key tips on how to find the perfect swimsuit. She explains she wants her future pieces to highlight future fashion trends. “For so long curvy girls have had basics — basic tees, basic jeans, dresses,” she says. Additionally, she wants to shout out under-the-radar plus-size brands that don’t often find their way into mainstream media outlets. Ashley, we couldn’t love you any more if we tried.
