The 'Avengers: Endgame' Character Posters Confirm Who Survived 'Infinity War' — and Who Didn't
With just one month to go until the April 26 release of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel debuted 32 new posters for all of our favorite heroes. The posters feature close-up photos of each character — Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, Gamora, Black Panther, Spider-Man, etc. — and the words "Avenge the Fallen" written across their foreheads. Sixteen of the posters are in color, representing those who survived the events of Infinity War, and the rest are in black-in-white, representing those who perished when Thanos wiped out half the universe with the Infinity Stones. (We are still not over that.) Click through to see them all — but maybe grab some tissues first. (Photos via Marvel Studios)
Iron Man: Robert Downey Jr. suits up as Iron Man (AKA "genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" Tony Stark) in what may very well be his final Marvel film. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Captain America: Chris Evans' appearance in Endgame is believed to be his last as the upstanding Captain America, AKA Steve Rogers. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Black Widow: Scarlett Johansson brings back Natasha Romanoff to kick butt as Black Widow, who will soon be getting her own prequel film. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Thor: Chris Hemsworth now has one brown eye and one blue eye as the mighty Thor. And, yes, his hair is still short. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Bruce Banner: When we last saw Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, he was using Tony Stark's Hulkbuster armor on the Wakandan battlefield, after being unable to summon his alter ego, The Hulk, into the fight. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Hawkeye: We haven't seen much of Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton in the most recent Marvel movies, so it'll be interesting to see him back in action — and with a new haircut — in Avengers: Endgame. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Captain Marvel: Brie Larson blew away fans (and box office records) as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. And if you remember the final minutes of Avengers: Infinity War, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) sent a message to her just moments before he disappeared. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Ant-Man: Paul Rudd's Ant-Man rejoins the Avengers crew after being stranded in the Quantum Realm at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Nebula: Karen Gillan's Nebula will return in Endgame to avenge her sister's death at the hands of their adoptive father, Thanos. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Okoye: The protector of Wakanda's throne, Danai Gurira's Okoye fought bravely alongside the Avengers in the battle against Thanos in Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
War Machine: Don Cheadle steps up once again as James Rhodes, AKA War Machine, Tony Stark's friend and a hero in his own right. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Pepper Potts: Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts, the CEO of Stark Industries, may not be a superhero, but she earned her own poster for Avengers: Endgame. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Valkyrie: Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie, who made her first and so far only Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance in Thor: Ragnarok, is back in action in Endgame. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Rocket: Bradley Cooper's Rocket was the only one of the original Guardians of the Galaxy who survived Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Wong: Benedict Wong returns as Wong, who appears to be alive and well — or at least alive — after the events of Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Happy Hogan: Jon Favreau will once again play Tony Stark's right-hand man Happy Hogan. Given the state of the universe after Infinity War, though, he doesn't have much to be happy about in Endgame. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Black Panther: Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa, AKA Black Panther, was among the countless victims of the Decimation in Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Star-Lord: Chris Pratt's Peter Quill perished with most of the original Guardians of the Galaxy in the battle against Thanos. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Gamora: Zoe Saldana's Gamora was sacrificed by her adoptive father, the warlord Thanos, so that he could obtain the Soul Stone. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Doctor Strange: Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Stephen Strange saw only one possible outcome where the Avengers could defeat Thanos. When they failed and Thanos assembled the Infinity Stones, he perished along with trillions of others. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Spider-Man: The death of Tom Holland's Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, was one of the saddest and most heartbreaking to watch in Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Scarlet Witch: Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, AKA Scarlet Witch, was among many who met a sad fate during Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Vision: Paul Bettany's Vision met his end when Thanos tore the Mind Stone from his head in Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Nick Fury: Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury has been integral to the franchise, but even he couldn't escape Thanos' destruction. However, he did manage to send out a signal to Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, before he perished. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Loki: Thor's brother and God of Mischief Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, appears to be dead — but we've thought that before, too. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Shuri: The fate of Letitia Wright's Shuri, the younger sister of T'Challa, was unclear at the end of Infinity War, but this poster appears to confirm that she died. Which begs the question: Is Wakanda, which holds some of the universe's most powerful technology, currently without a leader? (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Groot: Rocket has a very personal reason for wanting to avenge the fallen. His best friend, Groot, perished with the rest of the original Guardians in Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
The Wasp: While Ant-Man survived the near-apocalypse in Infinity War, his insect-like contemporary, the Wasp — played by Evangeline Lilly — did not. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Falcon: Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson, AKA Falcon, fought alongside the Avengers in Wakanda but was overpowered when Thanos himself joined the battle. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Winter Soldier: Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier, AKA Bucky Barnes, died when Thanos assembled the Infinity Stones and wiped out half the universe. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Mantis: After failing to stop Thanos from acquiring the Aether, Pom Klementieff's Mantis joined the Avengers in battle in Wakanda, only to perish with half of the universe when Thanos overpowered them. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
Drax: Like the rest of the original Guardians — save for Rocket — Dave Bautista's Drax disappeared from existence at the end of Infinity War. (Photo via Marvel Studios)
