Avocado Lovers, Meet Your Dream Job
If one of your hobbies includes eating avocados in creative ways (i.e. toasts, smoothies, literally anywhere else), you might want to dust off your resume. Good Fat, an Australian avocado restaurant popup, is seeking a Head of Avo Control to taste test the goods ahead of their November 2 opening in Sydney — and it sounds like a creamy green dream come true.
Roles and responsibilities include sampling each and every one of the restaurant’s 20 or so avo-centric dishes, including (obvi) avocado toast, smoothie bowls, and avocado ice cream.
But if you think your love for the creamy fruit is enough to put you in the running for the gig, think again. As per the job description, candidates must have a “proven knowledge of how to check avocado ripeness by gently pressing the sweet spot” as well as “a minimum two years experience in smashing avocados on toast or similar.”
While we’re pretty sure even the most casual of avocado-aficionados can attest to having said skills, we’re still wondering how anyone would *actually* prove their smashing and squeezing abilities. After all, this is the first time we’ve heard of such an avo-centric job. Perhaps a curated portfolio of your weekend Insta-toast posts would suffice?
Speaking of Insta posts, the job also requires promoting the popup via social media using the hastag #OzAvoGoodFat. The salary (in case you’re still seriously considering the gig) is as many avocados as your heart — or stomach — desires, plus unlimited items from the Good Fat menu. While the gig doesn’t pay cold, hard cash, is there anything else you’d rather spend your money on anyway?
If you’re not picked for the gig, but are in the Sydney area (slash willing to travel for avocados!), you can still bask in avocado glory by visiting Good Fat through the entire month of November. All dishes will be priced under $20 AUD, which is totally a reason to sample every possible thing on the menu. For those of us stuck elsewhere this upcoming month, let’s just hope we get some more avocado restaurants around the world ASAP. Until then, we’ll be brushing up on our mashing skills.
