Air Travel Hack: All-In-One Privacy, Pillow and Storage
Between the grueling security lines and the shrinking personal space on commercial flights, air travel is rapidly losing its glamour. Boarding a plane is often a necessary evil for those needing to get from here to there fast, but there’s a brand new travel concept that could add major comfort to your next flight — an elastic strip that gives privacy, storage and even a place to rest your head.
Just when you thought you couldn’t get a moment of privacy on a flight, graduates of Israel’s Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Idan Noyberg and Gal Bulka, came up with the genius B-Tourist Strip. Who knew a strip of fabric could make economy class so chic? Although not available for purchase yet, the travel concept gives frequent flyers something to look forward to.
A loop of elastic fabric slips around your own headrest and the one in front of you for a curtain that does double-duty as storage. Take a moment to assemble the elastic fabric and you’ll have adjustable privacy for reading, eating, working or simply drowning out the less-than-savory habits of your row-mate.
The concept means you don’t have to be in first class to have a little peace in the air. Plastic rings along the edge help you adjust the width of the band to effortlessly communicate with neighbors or flight attendants as needed. The strip also features a storage pocket perfect for your phone, glasses, earbuds or other small travel items.
If all this wasn’t enough, the B-Tourist Strip boasts a feature that brings the edges of the elastic together to create a cozy pillow-hammock for you to rest your head. While it isn’t exactly a roundtrip ticket on a private jet, this little concept could drastically change your perspective and level of productivity on your next redeye. Sorry, travel pillow. You’ve been replaced :'(
