‘Bachelor’ Star Bekah Martinez Reveals She Met With Arie Luyendyk Jr. After Being Sent Home
Between the buzz about her age and that whole missing-person misunderstanding, Bekah Martinez made a quick and lasting impression on TheBachelor season 22. While she and Arie Luyendyk Jr. did share a connection, she was ultimately sent home — but, as Martinez revealed in a new interview, their on-camera goodbye wasn’t the last time they saw each other.
“I just got the opportunity to talk with him a week later at his hotel here in LA,” Martinez told ET at the Women Tell All special, which will air on Sunday, February 25, on ABC. “We were just able to talk for 30 or 45 minutes and just kind of hash out our relationship and what happened.”
Martinez said their encounter was filmed but that it “didn’t make the cut.” Previously, she admitted to Jimmy Kimmel that her elimination was “shocking,” and she now says that their talk was able to provide some much-needed closure.
“I was kind of able to call him out and say, ‘I don’t think you gave me a fair shot. I felt like you were looking for a way out ever since you found out how old I was because you were afraid of how strong your feelings were for me,'” Martinez told ET. “I was able to express that, and he responded saying, ‘Yeah, I think you’re right. I don’t think I was fair and I shouldn’t have handled it that way.’ So I think we were both able to get the closure that we needed from that.”
So, is Martinez back in the dating game? According to Variety, she isn’t ready to go there just yet. “I don’t know if I would be ready to pursue a relationship with people yet – not because I’m not ready for a relationship but because I’m kind of savoring the moment right now of just being me,” the 23-year-old said. “It’s the first time I’ve really gotten a chance to do that.”
