BIP’s Wells Adams Reveals the Status of His Relationship With Danielle Maltby
Before ABC announced Arie Luyendyk Jr. as the next Bachelor, some fans were hoping to see Wells Adams in the role, in part because of his stint on Bachelor in Paradise. Though Adams wasn’t actually a contestant on the show — he replaced Jorge Moreno as the bartender — viewers swooned over the romantic moment he shared with Danielle Maltby before she left. Now he’s opening up about their status in a new interview.
If you’re unaware of the pair’s background, they’ve been IRL friends since way back in 2010 and even went on a date several years ago. When they started BIP, though, they insisted they were just close pals — and then they gave us one of the most talked-about kisses of the season. For all of these reasons (plus the fact that they’re downright adorable together), fans have been shipping them ever since.
“We are just friends right now,” Adams told Us Weekly. However, he did give us a little hope by adding, “If things progress romantically, we’re going to take our time with that and not worry about the show or Twitter or anything like that trying to make us something that we’re not ready to be.”
He went on to further explain his thoughts about their situation, saying, “I knew always I wanted to make out with her because she’s gorgeous and awesome and one of my friends.” However, things weren’t so straightforward back at home. “[Maltby is] part of my inner circle of friends,” he said. “So in Nashville I think it was just too weird.”
That’s why he thinks pursuing things with Maltby while away from home was definitely the right way to go. “[W]hen we were there [in Paradise], I was like, this might be my shot to see if I lay one on her,” he said. “It was a long time coming for me. Then afterwards, she kind of echoed the same thing.”
And they weren’t the only ones who had been waiting for that kiss. Fans were just as eager, with Adams acknowledging, “I didn’t realize at the time everyone was like, ‘This is totally a Jim and Pam situation’ [from The Office]. They were all rooting for it. I had no idea at all.”
He may have been unaware, but we were certainly conscious of the potential spark and can’t wait to hear what’s next for this adorable duo.
