Rachel Lindsay Hits Back at People Who Think She “Settled” for Bryan Abasolo
The internet had a lot of FEELINGS about Rachel Lindsay’s Bachelorette finale, and while there are always a few raised eyebrows when the last rose is handed over, this season’s ending left fans confused and unsatisfied. Some are convinced she picked the wrong guy. But Lindsay has a message for people (including her former suitor Eric Bigger) who think that she “settled” for Bryan Abasolo.
“From what was shown last night, I think Bryan was the consolation prize,” Eric Bigger told the hosts of Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family. “He was second place.”
Many fans had the same feeling. “Rachel was clearly in love with Peter. Bryan was runner-up. She chose him because he was willing to give her a ring. … She should have chosen true love over a ring,” one fan wrote in a letter that Ryan Seacrest read aloud to Lindsay during her appearance on Live with Kelly & Ryan. It couldn’t have been easy to hear, but it gave the now-former Bachelorette a chance to respond to all the doubters.

“It’s so funny to me — I’ve never been one to settle or to be desperate for anything… that’s why I was 32 and still single,” Lindsay explained. “So like, when people say things like that, like Bryan was runner-up, I’m like ‘no,’ I think you can clearly see that I have a lot of love for Bryan. I never would have just chosen a ring.”
She also addressed her relationship and incredibly dramatic on-screen breakup with Peter Kraus, saying, “That was a closed chapter for me. My focus was Bryan; I chose Bryan for a reason. Peter had his chance.” Oof. Fair enough.
