Zooey Deschanel Will Play Belle in a Live ‘Beauty and the Beast’ Concert
Disney’s 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast remake was a huge hit, and now the classic story is getting retold once again — this time in the form of a live concert, and with none other than New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel starring as Belle.
Beauty and the Beast Live in Concert will take place at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday, May 25, and Saturday, May 26. The original animated movie will be projected onto a big screen while a full orchestra and an all-star cast perform the movie’s beloved songs live.
In addition to Deschanel as Belle, the cast includes Kelsey Grammar as Lumiere, Taye Diggs as Gaston, Rebel Wilson as LeFou, Jane Krakowski as Mrs. Potts, and The Voice alum Anthony Evans as Beast, who, along with the classics, will sing “Evermore,” the original song from the live-action version of the film.
“Performing Beauty and the Beast, one of my favorite movies growing up, in a special concert at the legendary Hollywood Bowl is a dream come true,” Deschanel said in a statement. “I am looking forward to what I’m sure will be a magical event.”
Two years ago, The Little Mermaid was given the same concert treatment with Wilson as Ursula, as well as singer Sara Bareilles as Ariel, and John Stamos, Titus Burgess, and Darren Criss all performing key roles. Richard Kraft, who directed, will return for Beauty and the Beast.
Tickets for Beauty and the Beast Live In Concert go on sale via Ticketmaster on Friday, March 16, at 10am PT/1pm ET.
