Why This 10-Year-Old’s Lemonade Stand Just Got Funded on Shark Tank
Would you look at this sweet li’l babe? That smiling little girl is not your average 4th grader. She is the proud proprietor of BeeSweet Lemonade. No kidding. 10-year-old Mikaila Ulmer earned a $60,000 Shark Tank deal for her homemade lemonade.
This idea was birthed with the help of her loving grandmother and parents. When Mikaila was only four, she was stung by a bee — twice, in a week. To encourage her to show love for the bees instead of fearing them, her parent encouraged her to research the many benefits bees are responsible for and she learned to love bees. So, when grandma shared her delicious flaxseed lemonade recipe, Mikaila thought of the bees and decided to sweeten it with local honey in Austin, Texas.
Her idea was sponsored by FUBU CEO Daymond John, who said, “She’s a great kid with a head for business and branding. She’s got a great idea, and I’m happy to help take BeeSweet to the next level.”
But wait… it gets even more impressive. Mikaila uses a portion of the profits to support the bees who do so much for food supply. She even devotes a blog to bee education.
So, um, where do we get our own BeeSweet Lemonade? Well, it looks like she’s taking over Whole Foods in her home state of Texas. Until she expands her territory, the rest of us are going to have to wait for full production to begin, which shouldn’t be too long from the looks of it.
What do you think of this million dollar idea? What other recipes do you think could make it past the shark tank?
