Ben & Jerry’s Just Dropped 4 Dairy-Free Flavors
It is a great day for anyone who can’t process dairy, vegans and those experimenting with dairy-free diets (hello, Khloe Kardashian.) America’s favorite ice cream guys, Ben & Jerry’s, have produced four non-dairy flavors for the FIRST TIME EVER.
After a lot of research they have launched desserts that contain zero animal products and are instead made with almond milk. And we aren’t talking about frilly little sherbets or sorbets. This is the real deal here. The flavors include Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chunky Monkey, Coffee Caramel Fudge and P.B. & Cookies. These guys are not messing around!
Non-dairy flavors have been a long time coming; a Change.org petition asking for the company to make non-dairy products received nearly 30,000 online signatures. Flavor creators (sidenote: Can we please have that job?!) experimented for 12 months to get the new ice creams perfect. “There’s been a clear demand for a non-dairy line from Ben & Jerry’s,” Erin Beglin, Ben & Jerry’s global marketing representative, said in a statement to Mashable. “Fans wanted all the fun flavors, chunks and swirls, just without the dairy — and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered.”
With Americans, on average, drinking 37 percent less milk today than they did in 1970, this isn’t a surprising move for a smart company. Plus, Ben & Jerry’s is known for its awareness of social issues. It even partnered with the organization Vegan Action to make sure the new flavors are totally up to par with fully animal-free standards. TL;DR: This could be a real game changer.
