This Is How You Make the Perfect Steak
Sometimes after a long day of work, the one thing you want (besides wine, of course) is a good fulfilling meal for one that doesn’t take long to cook and makes your taste buds explode with happiness. But while this might sound like a dream, it actually can be done… with a steak recipe. (Cue gasps.) Cooking a steak doesn’t need to be complicated. With minimal seasoning and the right equipment, you can make a delicious steak that’s seared to perfection in under five minutes. We’re here to make your night a little easier by making the perfect steak.
Ingredients:
— steak of choice (rib eye, filet mignon, T-bone)
— 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (depends on size of steak)
— 1 tablespoon of kosher salt
— 1 tablespoon of black pepper
Equipment:
— cask iron skillet
Instructions:
1. Take the steak out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
2. While the steak is sitting, turn the broiler on and let the cast iron skillet sit in the oven for 20 minutes.
3. Next, coat the steak with vegetable oil, salt and pepper on both sides.
4. Pull the cast iron skillet from the oven and place it on top of the stove over high heat.
5. Place the steak in the skillet and sear for 30 seconds on both sides.
6. After searing the steak on both sides, take the skillet and place it back in the oven. Sear the steak for two minutes.
7. Pull the skillet out from the oven and flip the steak to sear the other side for another two minutes. Around this time, the temperature of your steak will be around medium-rare. If you would like it to be cooked just a little bit more, cook the steak a few minutes more on each side to get it to the temperature you like.
8. Take the skillet out from the oven and place the steak on a plate. Wrap each individual steak with aluminum foil to keep the heat in and let the juices settle.
