Beyoncé Celebrated Her Birthday by Reflecting on Her ‘Monumental’ Year in a Letter to Fans
It’s been a huge year for Beyoncé, and on Thursday, September 6, two days after her 37th birthday, she wrote a heartfelt open letter to fans about why, reflecting on all the moments that defined the past 12 months.
“At 36, I became a mother of three,” Bey, who turned 37 on September 4, wrote on her website. The note, titled “Your B*tch at 36,” then listed some of the singer’s milestones from the past year.
“I breastfed twins. I renewed vows with my husband of ten years. I came back home to the stage to do Coachella, after pregnancy. Then my husband and I released our album together, Everything Is Love. And we’ve been touring with our whole family around the world, and loving it,” she shared.
Just over one year ago, in June 2017, Beyoncé gave birth to twins Sir and Rumi, who joined big sister Blue Ivy. Bey was forced to cancel her impending Coachella performance earlier that spring due to her pregnancy, which she later revealed was complicated by toxemia.
After some downtime with her family, the Lemonade artist made a triumphant return to the stage with the most talked-about live show of the year at Coachella and, shortly after, a surprise album with her husband, JAY-Z.
“This year has been monumental for me,” the singer continued. “I thank God for everyone in my life. Thank you for all the positivity and for the beautiful birthday wishes. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn from my past, living in the present, and surrendering to the future.”
