Say What? Beyoncé Is Your New Favorite Shoe Designer
If your life motto consists mostly of trying to “Be Yoncé” then boy, are we about to rock your Monday. You can already eat like her and workout like her, but now you’ll even be able to dress like her – and no, we’re not talking about that athleisure collection set to release this fall. It’s been announced that the pop icon is designing a shoe with the notable footwear designer, Giuseppe Zanotti.
Sadly, no pictures have been released yet. But the author behind an interview with Zanotti in the latest issue of Forbes was shown a sketch of the shoe and described it as an ultra-thick platform with a stiletto heel (would you really expect anything else?). From what we’ve seen on those feet recently, we’re guessing they might look a little bit like what she sported at this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar party.
Zanotti, who previously supplied Beyoncé with custom heels for her Mrs. Carter World Tour, told Forbes, “I’m working on finalizing the shoe with her stylist right now. And Beyoncé will then say what she likes and what she doesn’t like. It will be one shoe only.”
While there isn’t a specific release date announced yet, it’s rumored to be sometime in the next week or two. Judging by her habit of stealthily launching big reveals (ahem, that last album) we’re guessing she’s going to Instagram a picture of the shoe and then sit back as the Bey Hive starts to swarm — and probably sting if the shoe sells out.
Based on what Giuseppe Zanotti’s shoes typically retail for (a basic sandal comes in at a $495) and the fact that a similar collaboration with Kanye West rang in at a stifling $6,000, we’re a little bit terrified to see what the price tag of a Beyoncé-approved shoe will come out to. Whether or not we can actually afford the ’70s-style heels, we’re pretty sure we’ll be crazy in love at first sight.
